The BDC is a fairly small space, but it’s a great resource for the community. Lots of panels and events about journalism and the arts. The space itself is pretty small(no need to spend more than half an hour if you’re not there for an event). If you’re going the Bronx Museum, take a Bx2 down the Concourse and check it out. Highly recommended. Gallery is free, by the way.

This center provided me with one of the most amazing experiences I have had in the recent past. I came upon this gem after a friend invited me to a screening of a documentary that chronicled the violence going on in the Southside of Chicago as well as parts of Philly. The documentary played outside on the wall across the street from the center. Inside were a plethora of photographers and the«who’s who» of the journalism world. As soon as I entered the space I knew that I was in the presence of a great and vibrant group of people. The energy in the place just made me excited to be there. And it wasn’t until I left the event that I realized that many of the people I became acquainted with were at the top of their games in the photography and journalism field. That is essentially how down to earth many of the people are. I love this place so much that I am going to take time to volunteer there whenever I can. It is always a blessing to find a place with good and positive energy. I will not be giving this opportunity up.
