I’ve been here once. I really liked the ambience… live music. The place is kind of small and our food«ropa vieja» was served a bit cold.

I really liked this place we had a reservation for 4 people by the time we got there the place was crowded. From the moment we entered the music playing put us in a good state of mind we were enjoyed it. Even though as I mentioned it before the place was packed, our food didn’t take much to be served . We ordered platanitos con carne mechada and mofongo with shrimps as appetizers OMG the best mofongo ever then as entrance we had lechoncito that rice with coco was flavorful and vaquerito which wasn’t that remarkable for me but my friends loved it. Good service, good ambience and great food the drinks not so much by the way they have two Michelin stars

Always enjoyable every time I stop by. It’s normally packed on the weekend so if you don’t mind sitting by the bar, it’s a great place to hang out. The atmosphere is very relaxed. Great for date night. I’m a vegan and my diet is limited… I fell in love with the mushroom quesadillas! They’re very accommodating substituting sautéed spinach for the normal side orders. They have pretty good sangrias on the brunch menu as well… If Latin Cusine is your thing, then it is a must try.

Attended brunch in October 2015 here and loved the food. I came for a birthday brunch. The most popular dish ordered at our table was the steak and eggs, everyone love it. I ordered an omelette with sausage and plantains it was delicious. Of course we opted for the unlimited mimosas and sangria. Very nice atmosphere, food and drinks.

Whenever I come to this place it’s a hit or miss, more so lately it’s a miss. Last time I went I made a reservation beforehand. When we got there we wasn’t on the list, so we asked to speak to the manager. When we spoke to the manager about it he made it seem like we were lying so I had to pull out my phone to show him that I called the place the day before. Eventually he told me we had to wait for an open table and we’d be seated next . While waiting another party came and had the same problem, but the woman who spoke to the manager was very upset and loud and threatened to leave so she got sat before us ! The same night our server was so rude, barely attending to us and looked as if he didn’t wanna be there the whole time. So when it came to tipping time we only gave him 15%. When he walked away with the tip he was visibly upset and started to point and talk about us to the manager . Whenever you go there, the food is never the same taste or quality. Calamari was so rubbery and chewy we sent it back . Overall I would not go there again or recommend this place.

Attentive waitress that brought drinks nonstop during brunch. The brunch drinks were surprisingly strong. The food was delicious and I will continue coming here

My family and I came here for my sister’s 50th birthday, we had reservations for 8pm and we were seated at that time. The service was on point. The waiter took our orders right away and we got everything in a jiffy. The mojitos and sangria were delish!!! The salmon with the fingerling potatoes was great. The churrasco was amazing. The deviled shrimp was also delish. The place was packed on a Friday night. The music was really good, the atmosphere was exhilarating. We would definitely be going back.

It was my sister’s 50th, and the whole family went to celebrate. I’ve never been to Havana Café, and I was pleasantly surprised. Havana Café was pumping the minute I walked in. Interior is all brick(whether it was solid brick or not, it added a kind of cool and old-fashioned hint to Havana). Interior also had a lot of pluses for me, dimly and softly lit– which I always love, and the balance of the brick with the soft metal sconces and hanging lamps, was cool. We were asked to wait a just a tad, in order for our tables to be arranged for our party. Soon after, the host was most certainly attentive. To add on to the festivities, one of my other sisters brought balloons(and the birthday cake). Boy…Music was so good, I was dancing in my seat! Too bad we had 8pm reservations, dancing doesn’t start til much, much later. The sweet sounds of Merengue, Salsa and Bachata were in the air. I wanted to get up and dance ! It’s such a lively and a happy spot to be in. What I particularly liked about Havana Café, is that despite of the music playing, folks could still carry on with a full conversation. The music’s volume was perfect! I’ve been to other Latin restaurants(in NYC and White Plains) and the music is blaring, and all you can make out is that last word of the other person’s sentence. Please don’t misinterpret me, but there’s a time and definitely a place for everything. Obviously in a more reserved restaurant, you’re going to refrain from fist pumping and the like, however, in a restaurant like Havana Café, you let loose, can get all loud and fist pump all you want. Now… For the service… Can’t complain. Our server was in tip-top shape with our orders. Cocktails were pretty potent and dinner was good. Towards the end of our dinner, our server whisked the cake away and brought it back to the table with a cake sparkler and sang ‘Happy Birthday’. In the end, Havana Café was positively pumping and honestly, for a party of 8, and for it to be a Latin restaurant, it didn’t break my brother-in-law’s pocket.

My friends and I have been here a few times. My review in summary: Price for dinner would be $ 30 – 40 with a drink. The quality of food is good, I pretty much tried everything in the menu :) The servers however, are kinda tough to call because the music + the crowd in this place is just so loud, and I mean really loud! You also need to shout at each other over dinner to compete with the noise. Having said that, this place is good for repeated dates or casual dine but I wouldn’t recommend it on a 1st date LOL! There is usually a 15 – 25 minute wait time for tables especially when you come for dinner.

My fiancé and I have been to Havana Café for Sunday Brunch only. We haven’t been in a while until my fiancé celebrated a surprise birthday brunch on a Saturday. Im mentioning dates because we were told that their amazing flavored Sangrias are on Sundays only. Nevertheless you cant go wrong! Well portioned drinks that taste great! The food: WOW!!! We forgot how delicious the food was. Ive had almost everything from their brunch menu. My absolute favorite is the Steak and Eggs with White Rice and Platanos Maduros. Im a steak guy what can I say! It was a big Churrasco steak medium well! The Ropa Vieja is also a good choice! It comes on top of a corn flour Arepa. The Torejas is like a French Toast which is one of my fiancé favorite. The drinks are really good too! Highly recommend this place. The staff is nice. Unfortunately our waiter dropped the specialized Hennessy Cake(brought that in from outside), I couldn’t even be upset it was a funny moment, too bad it came at the dispense of our cake. The manager was accommodating to the accident. Her very professional about it too. Cant complain. The place gets packed easy and if you plan on having a big party, call in advanced! Overall great time when I go. Good food good drinks good service!

Was supposed to do lunch at Mamajuana down the street at 12:30pm got there and it was closed! Ugh so quick back up plan. I knew Havana Café was super close. I called just to make sure they were open and they were. Walked in and noticed most people were hip to the Havana Café hours and found it slightly full. After being promptly seated we were greeting by Isis lovely attentive waitress. Décor, food presentation snd taste was on point. I got the Salmon burger as sn entrée and the spinach and cheese Empanadas de Espinaca. Amazing! The passion fruit mojito was delicious however if you’re looking for a bit more buzz from your drink ask for an extra shot. I was good with mine because it was a Monday and a lunch get together… but if it were a Tuesday? It goes UP!

I visited this restaurant with my boyfriend a couple of months ago. They have bottomless brunch and a limited selection of breakfast items. To be completely honest, the white sangria is what did it for me! The food wasn’t all that great, and we had to wait a long time for it to come out. I would visit again, only because the prices are reasonable and perhaps I’ll have better luck with my food on. Second visit. UPDATEDREVIEW: I visited Havana Café today, December 19th to celebrate a birthday and the experience was much much better. We had a reservation at 5 pm, and even though that was the case we still have a 10 – 15 minute wait because the table was not ready. Thankfully everyone in my party was willing to wait. Everything else was great. I highly recommend the camarones al ajillo as an appetizer, and the ropa vieja as an entrée. Absolutely delicious! We ordered the red sangria and it was pretty strong but amazing nonetheless. Everyone enjoyed their dishes, from the mofongo to the boliche, the pastelon to the arroz con pollo. Our server was great and was very attentive. Will definitely visit again.

If you are hungry and picky, this is the place for you. The Yuca mofongo with red snapper was perfection. On a fork. The vegetarian pastelon almost made me swear off meat. Super lively on a Tuesday night. The sangria made me smile all the way home.

This was our 1st visit. We purchased a Groupon meal for 2. The Sangria was very good. We enjoyed the garlic shrimp and bread for sopping up the garlic flavor. The Peril could have used a bit more seasoning my husband was a bit disappointed as he did not receive any cuerito. I had to remind him that it was Cuban food not my Puerto Rican Pernil. I will return again for the pargo.

After hearing such rave reviews about Havana Café, my fiancé and I decided to finally give it a try one Friday evening. The décor is absolutely gorgeous, even in the bathroom which is impressive. There are tons of pretty restaurants with questionable looking bathrooms, but this one is perfectly designed and was absolutely immaculate. But I digress. I’d heard so much about their mojitos, so to start I immediately ordered a passion fruit mojito. If you drink nothing else at this restaurant, do yourself a favor and have a mojito. It was probably the best mojito I’d ever had, and I’ve had plenty. As far as the actual food goes, the menu was full of so many tasty-sounding dishes that I had a very hard time choosing. I’m going to have to go back several times just to taste all the things I had my eye on. Because I’d heard so much about it, I settled on having the mango ribs with a side of yuca fries while my fiancé had their salmon burger. Our meal was as close to perfect as you can get. The flavor on those ribs were on point and the yuca was great, just missing a little salt. The atmosphere and the vibe of this place is so warm. I even ran into an old friend from high school who was at the bar, which was packed even though the restaurant wasn’t(I’m telling you, try the mojito!). Service was perfect; our water glasses were never empty, our waitress was such a sweetheart, and there was never a long wait for anything. I’ll be going back a few more times in the near future because there are too many dishes I still need to try!

So it is highly recommended on a Friday night after 6pm especially in the summer to have a reservation or be prepared to wait about 45 mins and they are pretty tight to that schedule. And might I add they sat us without the 3rd to our party of three… very stag of them! Atmosphere so this place is somewhat popular in the neighborhood even though there is a beloved Mamajuana’s down the block. If you’re going to out to catch up the eventual noise level does not lend to rebounding… it’s more of leaning in and screaming. Staff was pretty attentive, but we weren’t sure that was because of us or the wanted the table at quick as possible… lol you know how that be in some spot especially when busy on prime nights. Our waiter Michael was great on suggestions and timely on checking back and the bus boy staffing was almost to the level of annoying they were so efficient. Drinks are fairly decent me and my girl attempted different by ordering a Havana Creamsicle(liquor 43, cream, vanilla vodka) it gave the faint taste of a creamsicle but required more cream. Another girlfriend had a rum punch which was actually decent. I eventually switch to Tropical Mojitoes(some blend of several fruits) which were the better choice for my evening drink wise at least. So what was suppose to be dinner and drinks turned into a decision of several appetizers. And a few that we off their special menu for that evening… choices that proved fruitful in the end. We also op for the classics… calamari, coconut shrimp… cod fritters which by the way to die for Yum! Did I say I liked the fritters lol . Overall the experience warrants another visit possibly for brunch and definitely a dinner visit since we didn’t actually have dinner this time. Cons for me: more crème in the creamsicle… they need to up their bathroom situa and the noise levels which may be what it be.

Clean is the first word that comes to mind as I walked in. We had our monthly business meeting here so drinks were not part of the equation. Dishes were tasty and service was memorable Comedy night was starting as we were leaving and that would have made the night extra special but the food was memorable all the same.

What a little Cuban gem in the middle of East Tremont Ave. We really enjoyed our time here and can’t wait to go back during warmer weather to sit outside. Dinner was great. For drinks, we had sangria which definitely set our chill mode :). For appetizer, chicharron de pollo was delicious. I don’t remember it being that big of a portion but definitely enough for 2 people. For entrees, we both had the Churrasco with moro. This skirt steak was juicy, tasty, and a big portion. I was a happy girl ! Loved the ambiance and the décor. Service was great as well. Can’t wait to come back one day! Would love to check out the brunch.
