Justin Restaurant

Came here once when I was desperate. It wasnt clear to me what the menu items were. I looked around and had trouble picking something. I ended up just asking for a bowl of soup. It was decent, filled my belly but it wasnt sabroso. On another note: I take the 4 train right above the restaurant to work every day and every morning I smell their chicken cooking. I don’t know what they season their food with, but the smell makes me nauseous every time. never ordered chicken here because of it.

Food is great… Waitresses are rude as crap and are just rude. I had to put a complaint in with the owner (or at least who appeared to be the owner) because this one waitress was so cheap on the over-​priced pork. Btw, i am a beautiful confident african american woman who does not deal well with rude individuals.

I’ve lived in this neighborhood all my life and tonight’s experience with them is the last straw.
I called Justine Restaurant this evening to place a delivery order for dinner, after placing the order I asked the lady how much and how long should I expect to wait for the delivery guy to arrive? She says $ 24.50 and 30 minutes. I have ordered here before so they have my number and address saved in their computer system.
Note: By foot I live 8 minutes from the restaurant, 4 minutes driving and 5 minutes by bike.
I was fine with the price and waiting time was reasonable so I thanked her, so I wait… after 50 minutes of waiting I call the restaurant back to see if something was wrong. The lady says the delivery guy has already left to make my delivery, I complain that it’s been almost an hour since I called… she tells me there are only two delivery guys on staff and they’re busy. I said she should not have told me it would be 30 minutes if she knew they’re backed up. She caught an attitude quick and used verbal shrugs to downplay the situation, I asked to speak to the manager, and of course the answer was he was not in. She asks me to hold on, puts me on hold, then she’s gone.
The delivery guy arrived 30 minutes after I called to complain. I asked him why he was late, he acted as if I was insulting him to ask such a question… he said «what do you mean? I just left the restaurant, you are my first delivery» — sounds like a veteran delivery excuse. I told him it’s been 1.5 hours since I placed the order, the lady told me 30 minutes, and I already arranged an order with another local spot. He said the lady could have not ever told me 30 minutes and that I heard wrong, called me a liar and that I should be more patient.
Note: I realize deliveries is how these guys make a living so I did my very best to not give this guy a hard time, despite him calling me a liar.
I told him I’m sorry to refuse the order, and perhaps it was the kitchens fault for the delay but I cannot justify waiting 3 times the wait time window I was told.
If he was telling the truth then the lady lied to me but if the lady was telling the truth the he had already left 50 minutes in, then the delivery guy was lying to me in saying I was his first delivery (since I live 6 minutes away)… either way, I won’t be ordering from them ever again. You may think I’m overreacting but remember I said earlier how they save your phone and address in their system? What do you think will happen next time I order… yup, you guessed it… I will get some special secret ingredients in my food.
If the lady would have told me they are very busy and backed up and the delivery could take approximately an hour, then it’s my discretion on whether I should wait or have them delete my order. It’s very wrong for a business to mislead their customers, based on this principle, that’s why I refused the order.
Expect poor service, late delivery (they’re notorious for this, I’ve experienced it for years), and food that will raise your blood pressure.

Horrible horrible customer service! When you call to place an order the ladies on the phone are rude. Food is over priced. they used To be a good Place, specially theyre chicken and sin hueso were the best, but I dont know what happened to them smh. Delivery sucks too

When I first moved to this area of the Bronx, my wife decided to try their coffee. The three times I went there, the female servers, and cashier worker would not take my order, but would run to their co-​workers to comment on my physical stature. I had to ask for management in order for them to get my order. Uneducated and Unprofessional.

Very consistent and a great place for a late night urge for chicharrón de pollo and arroz con habichuelas !! One of my favorite places in the Bronx

I do not speak Spanish well, but they took the time to make sure I understood them. I had salami, sausage, egg, and fried cheese. It was all delicious.

I am Dominican and I know about our food and this place is not my fav, the food is not good at all.

The food was just o.k. perhaps the most interesting thing was the huge plastic container they gave me for my lemonade. The wife ordered a Pina Colada which she enjoyed very much.

The worse Restaurant I been service is really bad the food is old and tasteless, over price & I saw a mouse under a table I would never go there again. El valle on Jerome. Ave is way better

This is the best Dominican and Latin food around the area… food is great at a low rate, attention is fine and the coldest beers in the bronx are here.

Sometime they food fresh sometimes not I guess it depends what time of the day you call … And the females on the phone can be a little nicer

Do not eat at this restaurant!!! My friend works for a company that will not be named and when he went to the back he saw a huge cat sitting on top of a bag of rice then begin to Chase several mice and the conditions of the kitchen are DISGUSTINGGG!!! Ignorance is bliss…

After eating at dominican restaurants/​chimi trucks/​vendors all over manhattan, queens, bronx and bk– justines has probably the hands down best Dominican food in the city. There food is always fresh, the price is right and the service is usually decent. Probably the best Chicharones de pollo and chivo (except in DR) I have ever had, basically whatever type of Dominican food you want you can get there.

Food is also great in here!!! Chiccaron de pollo is the best here!!!
