Delicious made to order Columbian food. The owner Laura was super helpful making suggestions and we had an amazing breakfast. Huge variety of homemade empanadas — we will definitely be back!

My first time here and had the Bandeja Paisa(steak, arepa, chicharron, maduros, chorizo, white rice, beans, salad and a fried egg on top of the rice). Never had it before and was amazing. The steak and beans was flavorful. Everything together was so good. Would defiantly go back there again but this time to try their empanadas! I thought it was a bit pricey for two orders of the Bandeja with one soda and a bottle water and a 20% tip came to $ 50. The place is small and just a few seats and tables and your food is made fresh. There’s no counter to pick food from. So, be prepared to order and take out unless you go early.

Cute little spot in the heart of Morris park, its definitely a hit. La Masa is a family own restaurant that does not disappoint. The ambiance is nice and the food is spot on. We tired a few of the empanadas, the Guava is hands down my favorite and the runner up were the Hawaiian and the nutella. I had the Maduro Relleno which was delicious and my husband had the patacon which was good but he preferred the maduro relleno. My one complain is that it was super freezing in the restaurant, given the fact that we went in the winter it is understandable, but it made it just a tiny bit hard to enjoy the awesome food. None the less I will be going back.

Finally! A worthy Morris Park Latin food restaurant! La Masa offers really good Colombian comfort fast food. Our personal favorite is the«Rellano Maduro» with ground beef and cheese and an order of plain white rice with delicious red beans on the side.“ Their«Yuca fries» are also delicious. Their«Arepas» and«Empanadas» are very good. They offer three different types of secret sauces to spice up your meal, there all good. Joshua and Laura are wonderful hosts, and very attentive to ensuring you are pleased with your order. We mainly order out, the restaurant is very small, consisting of a counter and few small tables maybe seating 16 people at most. They recently started delivering which makes it very convenient to order. Happy we have another menu choice in Morris park. Highly recommended.

Found this place browsing through Unilocal and it did not disappoint. We had La Bandeja Paisa and the yuca fries. Everything delicious. There was enough food for two of us. Although we did indulge in two empanadas each. We had the guava and cheese, Nutella, dulce de leche with cheese and the cheeseburger empanadas. The empanadas are freshly made to order — warm and crispy. The spot is small, cozy and cute. The service was great. If you’re looking to try some comfort Colombian food, then this is the place. If you’re looking for some alcoholic libations, this is not the place for you. Meter parking offered right in front.

We live in the neighborhood and are very pleased that La Masa is here. We visited for the 1st time today and we were pleased with the service and food. I ordered the El Cache and the ingredients were very fresh and delicious. The Lulo, or natural fruit juice drink, was also very good. We also had Yuca fries and a stuffed maduro, that were delicious as well. The people that work here are very nice and helpful. The food is cooked fresh so it does take a little longer than usual. However, in my opinion, the extra time is worth it. The only drawback is that the place is pretty small and could only fit about 10 people. They do takeout and delivery though.

Nice addition to the neighborhood! I am a bit of an empanada snob, and these are solid. You can have enough to fill you up for well under $ 10. The chicken and beef ones are the best in my opinion, but be sure to check out their very tantalizing menu. I ordered rice and beans and was served white rice from a rice cooker, much to my disappointment. One of the best parts about this place is the service. Seems like a very family-run business, and they are very passionate about their food. They also have a pretty extensive juice menu. Supposedly they are on their way to getting a liquor license. Happy hour anyone?

La Masa is a small place and family owned. The owners are lovely and you can talk to them about anything. When they first opened, they mostly just had empanadas but their menu has been growing. Since I’m an ‘empanada freak’ and have only been here twice, so far that is the only menu item I have tried(will try more in the future, promise!). The beef, cheeseburger, chicken, and broccoli rabe(mix of Italian and Colombian flavors, nice!) are all on point. Their dulce de leche, guava and cheese, and apple pie empanadas are divine. They are sweet but not too sweet, it’s just the right balance. They also have smoothies and juices. I had the mango smoothie that was really soothing after getting over being sick(usually cold drinks are not soothing after having a sore throat). All dishes are cooked on the spot and are fresh so expect a bit of a wait(maybe like 15 minutes). However this is not an issue for me and I rather fresh food than stale food. I hope to try more dishes in the future and will be looking for any excuse to go back!

I visited this place over the summer, maybe June? They were open but still doing some construction. Nonetheless it was a cute looking little spot. There is not much seating so this is something to keep in mind. This day I was craving Colombian food which is pretty hard to find in the Bronx so I was so happy to find this little spot. I had the maduro relleno and empanadas. Both were very tasty, but the empanadas were a hit for me, they brought me back to when I was younger growing up in Corona, Queens. Thank you so much for making Colombian cuisine an option for people in this area =)

Owner is very friendly and attentive. I had empanadas de Chicken with cheese Cuban, guava and cheese, cheese burger, and Patacon de Pollo(El Cache) and Maduro ground beef and cheese. And a guava juice with milk! Everything was delicious. Nice and small it’s perfect !!! Only negative should not give plastic in utensil if dinning in! Everything else was perfect so not a big issue!!! Will be back!!!

The place is very cute. Only a couple of tables. The Maduras(stuffed ripe plantain) are amazing. I got it stuffed with shrimp in a tomato/scallion sauce. The portions are enough. If you are really hungry add rice and beans. Try ALL the sauces!

I heard good things about this new restaurant in Morris Park, so I decided to give them a try tonight. La Masa serves Colombian food with an emphasis on empanadas — kind of an oddball in this historically Italian area of the Bronx, but definitely a welcome addition. Their storefront is super small — simply decorated with ~4 tables and stools lining a back counter. It’s really not practical for large groups(or even families) but perfectly fine for one or two people to sit and relax. I decided to get takeout so I placed my order online(you’re able to right on their website). I was really impressed by the menu, there are so many unique types of empanadas it was hard for me to choose which ones I wanted. I ultimately decided to go with a chicken vodka and a chicken and cheese — and since the family was hungry I ordered some wedges, yuca fries, and two aretas: cheese and shredded pork. The empanadas were definitely the best part of my meal; they were filled(but not too stuffed) with chicken and fried to perfection — super tasty. The aretas were okay, I liked the shredded pork one but the cheese one left something to be desired — partly my fault though, the cheese congealed a little and I think if I had eaten it fresh and not let it cool a little on the way home it would have been better. The wedges were good albeit a little too greasy for my taste. Unfortunately I never got to try the yuca fries — when I opened the bag when I got home they weren’t there. We called to let them know and they did an amazing service recovery — top notch customer service which I appreciated greatly. The empanadas will keep me coming back here, they were delicious and definitely the highlight of their menu. Keep up the good work and the great customer service!

I am Colombian and live in the Bronx, so for me to see that there is a Colombian spot out here was great. CONS: –This is not the place to expect to sit and eat an entire meal like at a restaurant. It is very small, literally with a table for 4 people and I think maybe a few stools. When I first walked in I thought it was closed. There was nothing but a small fridge behind what resembles a bar. You order and go! — The beef empanada was a disappointment, was just too generic and salty, definitely not my favorite. — Although they do have a 3 for $ 5 special for the empanadas that is only if all 3 are the same flavor, bo0o0o! PROS: — It’s FREAKINGCOLOMBIAN!!! — The young girl who takes the orders is a sweetheart, glad to see young girls becoming familiarize at such a young age with entrepreneurship. — The chicken and carne empanadas was good! — Of course my drink, Colombiana was great. I’ll definitely be back to try out the rest of the menu items.

Just an overall fantastic experience. After having the privilege of indulging in their delicious food during the Unilocal holiday hangover cruise I knew that this would be a place I must visit. Luckily, my bf is a fellow bx resident thus it made it easier for me to actually make the trip to the bx. Quite honestly, the food is just so good that I would travel to the bx regardless if I had a huge empanada craving. The owner is so nice! She was very accommodating to our needs. Everything is freshly made but please note that items could be sold out when visiting. They are just that in high demand. Even though the empanadas look tiny they are filling and the 3 for $ 5 carnivoras I highly recommend(can pick and choose between 3 diff meats or 3 of the same flavor for $ 5). If not each empanada is around $ 2. The place is so cute and tiny. Most ppl seem to order out but others actually sit in this space. I wouldn’t name this location a prime special occasions type of place but more of a relaxed, homey atmosphere. The owner did mention expanding their business to the city and I sure hope they do! The empanadas are just so rich in flavor and freshly made that anyone could easily become a regular here.
