Revisited had breakfast eggs, etc, pretty good, coffee is good. Hamburger is dry, thin and probably frozen.

They were the absolute BEST diner in the Bronx! My favorite place to go to at any time of the day! I absolutely miss this place and I wish they didn’t have to close(although they are opening up across from their original place but I don’t think the exact same concept) All of the staff are so sweet and my wife and I were regulars! They always made sure we were happy and taken care of! I would get breakfast at any time of the day or my favorite, sautéed veggie wrap with a side salad. It was always fresh. This place still deserves so much love even after it has closed. Thanks so much for all you’ve done! Can’t wait to see the new place once it is ready!

Unfortunately Quality Café has closed as of December 28th, 2015. Management is currently in the process of opening up across the street at 1805 Edison Avenue! We expect the opening date to be within this month of January. We will definitely keep everyone updated. By the way we are definitely keeping our same baker to serve the delicious donuts.(Hooray). Hope to see everyone soon!

I just heard Quality Café will be closing and reopening at a nearby location in a few weeks as Quality Grill. I hope they take their donut maker with them because the last time he went on vacation I was suffering.

Pretty good as in choices, prices and quantity. We got the meatloaf dinner special. Comes with soup(two were available that day: seafood bisque yummy or Manhattan clam chowder) meatloaf, 2 choices of veggies(I chose mashed potatoes & green beans), and a choice of pie! All for $ 12. The meatloaf can be better but the mashed potatoes & gravy were really good! I chose the Boston crème pie, very good & big portion.

I want to love this place, I do but they have so many issues. First, the staff is awesome. It is one of those places that they will remember your name. I have never had an issue with service. The food is okay. The flavors are on point, but eg. The home fries have more onions than actual potatoes. You are lucky if it isn’t burnt and greasy. The omelet is a gamble… Sometimes it isn’t fully cooked. The cheese(feta) is sometimes sprinkled inside when they get too lazy to cook the omelet with it. I have found creepy burnt mystery chunks in my home fries and in my chicken fajita wraps. I know nasty and worse, I keep ordering because I have hope. Their donuts are unbelievable… Amazing! Why? Because it’s made fresh everyday, so Quality please change your menu. Make your items fresh everyday like your donuts and you would shoot up. I stopped eating here and go upstate now where they actually give you fresh waffles and fresh home fries. I gave this place two stars because 1– the donuts 2– the service. Also, please clean your restaurant!!! Take pride in your business and your neighborhood. I live here and would love to support my community.

Nothing too special, I think you’re better off going to the place directly across from it. Had a bacon grilled chicken panini, and never have I ever in my life had something that had bacon in it be flavorless. Panini also had cheese which did nothing for the sandwich, had to bring out the salt pepper and ketchup, but not even bacon could save the panini, my friend ordered their tuna melt and had to eat it like toast because the tuna was just loaded on to slices of bread, also very bland Service was average, nothing over the top but also wasn’t neglected and forgotten about. Overall wouldn’t come back

amazing vegan donuts that is close to home. I missed dunkin donuts so bad. This place is even better. The donuts are so good, i was skeptical, i thought a good vegan donut could only be found in a pricy hipster venue in manhattan or brooklyn. one bite out of the chocolate frosted donut and i was in love(I guess you could call it love at first bite). The price is amazing as well. i thought it was going to be 2 or 3 dollars but its only 96 cents a pop. I will be back soon

I have been told by a few people when speaking about diners in the Bronx that this is the best in the Bronx. Well after going this evening, if this is the best, I’m moving! Maybe they had an off night? It was very off on many points. The diner itself is nothing fancy, old fashioned„ nothing much has changed for many decades, but I usually don’t go to diners for the ambiance and décor but the good diner type food. The menu was large with many choices spanning across American, Greek and Italian. The waiter was ok, not overly attentive but sufficient. No wine or beer, first bummer, ok I’ll have a snapple banana from the cold case in the front, I’m flexible. I ordered to start, the special soup of the day of potato soup which was just ok, not the best, not the worse, it tasted better after seasoning myself with salt and pepper. My partners salad was nice and cold and fresh with a nice creamy Italian dressing on the side. My open faced roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and spinach arrived. The mashed and gravy was very good, but I took one fork full of spinach and literally spit it out, gracefully of course, I am a lady still! It was bitter and tasted bad! Almost like freezer burn or going bad. The roast beef was a disaster, thin, dry, disgusting! It was like they took supermarket packaged sliced roast beef and over cooked it! I could not even eat it! My partners open faced turkey sandwich was palatable but still had an odd taste and dry. His side corn was like my spinach, tasting of freezer burn! Maybe they make a great Burger or souvlaki platter, but this tasty lady will never find out because I’m not going back and I’d advise you to eat across the street at George’s for«quality» diner food!

This was my favorite diner as a high school kid, back then it was called Quality Donuts, I always use to order ‘Disco Fries’ or Gravy Fries. Found my self recently going there for late dinners after work and meet ups with old friends, it doesn’t seem to have changed much. They use to have a huge machine in the back room to make donuts and I believe they are still homemade. The donuts are really fresh, even at 10pm, I liked the plain glazed over the chocolate but both were really good.

This is a regular diner nothing fancy or special. If you’re looking for a quick diner breakfast this would be the place to go. They advertise«worlds best coffee» but I can’t say I agree. The coffee is ok.

I see this place has a lot of positive reviews, so I can only imagine that most people have had a decent time here. However, after my last time, I’ll never go back. I used to grab food from here years ago, just the occasional lunch with a friend or something, and it was always okay. Never great, just okay. A few months back, my girlfriend and I wanted salads for dinner. I unfortunately suggested this place based on previous experience. We were confused as to why cobb salads weren’t on the menu(they are pretty much a staple item in most diners and restaurants), so we proceeded to order salads with the ingredients of a cobb salad. The waiter(possibly also the manager) decided to charge us for each individual item we ordered ONTOPOF a salad on the menu that we did not get nor ask for. He was very flat and seemed annoyed at our confusion over the price. All in all, we were essentially charged a for a 15 dollar salad(with items we did not receive) in addition to being charged individually for eggs, bacon, avocado, etc. It is also worth noting that the salads really weren’t good at all anyway; my girlfriend barely touched her’s. There are much better diners in the area.

By FAR the greatest diner in the Bronx. The food is great! The homemade donuts are delicious. We usually ask for Megan, who is so sweet and so attentive. If you go, ask for megan and have the breakfast. AMAZING!

I dropped by here with my wife on our way to Pelham Bay Park. It was one of the few restaurants that was open super early, and it was jam packed with a crowd of families, so I figured it couldn’t be that bad for a diner looking breakfast restaurant. I must say, I was quite surprised when I actually went in. Friendly wait staff, and everything that came out were fresh and clean. I shared a breakfast platter that came with a couple of eggs, sausages, hash brown, and toasts with a side order of waffle fries with my wife. It was a bit too much for breakfast, so we’ll probably just order 2x drinks and a platter next time, but it tasted good. I loved the dollar coffee/tea. It was a freshly brewed coffee. It wasn’t the best coffee, but it wasn’t the worst, and for a dollar at a right portion, I can’t have any complaints :-) I didn’t expect much when I went in, but this definitely will be my go-to-breakfast restaurant when I go to Pelham Bay Park.

My boyfriend and I dropped in here tonight because we wanted to stay local due to the rain and now I wish we had taken our chances driving– this was one of the worst dining experiences that we’ve had in a long time. The waiter(possibly the owner?) Felix was inattentive overall and very unhelpful regarding the menu. He didn’t refill our waters once during our visit despite the fact that there was only one other table there besides us. But they were a table of two young girls that he could be heard audibly flirting with, so perhaps that’s why he couldn’t find time for us. Anyways, we came here hoping for and being very much in the mood for Cobb salads, but were told with a smirk that«they don’t make those anymore». I don’t know who«they» is, or what grudge they hold against Cobb salads, but they should try burying the hatchet when you consider that you can get Cobb salads nearly anywhere these days. Regardless, we browsed the menu for another few minutes and couldn’t find anything appealing, so we decided instead to order the ingredients found in a Cobb salad; egg, bacon, avocado, tomatoes, and cheese. It seemed like a good idea at the time considering that the salads were listed at $ 9, but more on that later. I wanted ranch dressing on mine and was told(once again with a smirk) that they were all out. Disappointed a second time here now, I settled for blue cheese dressing. After eating an order of otherwise ordinary mozzarella sticks, our salads arrived and I was not impressed. The chicken was well seasoned and flavorful, but other than that the ingredients were not noteworthy. There was one hard boiled egg, few avocado, four slices of tomato, two slices of bacon, and six strips of cheese over tasteless iceberg lettuce with a few pieces of romaine here and there. I didn’t enjoy it in the least and my boyfriend found it to be exceptionally mediocre. Now, what we weren’t warned about until after we received the bill was that because we weren’t ordering from the menu, we would be charged $ 19 for house salads(which is lettuce, tomato, cucumber, peppers, & onions. Of which, we only got 2 of those things, so we got charged almost $ 20 for lettuce + tomato, which is lovely) and then an additional $ 6 for bacon, $ 3 for avocado, $ 3 for cheese, and $ 3 for two eggs. Our bill came to $ 41 all together and when we questioned Felix as to why our bill was so high, he was rude and arrogant while donning a very matter-of-fact tone. He explained everything as I did above rather annoyed and mechanically and then proceeded to walk away before we could ask further questions. My boyfriend and I resigned to the fact that, whether we like it or not, it’s his place and he could charge $ 10 for water if he wanted to. We paid the bill without further argument and left. I can’t speak of the other foods offered since F and I only got salads, but I’ll tell you this; steer clear of this place unless you want to pay close to $ 50 for insultingly average food and awful service.

A few dishes into a late breakfast upon randomly trying this place, my friend suddenly sits bolt upright decreeing, «Guys – EVERYTHING is good here!» He was right. The pancakes,(pancakes!) crisp bacon, lox bagel, homemade donuts and rice pudding… Bottom line, you get a serious quantity of quality at the QC.

I’ve never had a bad meal at Quality. The food comes out quick and delicious, and the staff is friendly. They always laugh when I order«super extra crispy bacon». I realize they’re laughing at me, not with me, but that’s ok. And my bacon is always perfect. I always get breakfast regardless of the time of day. My dining companion has gotten the lunch items and the souvlaki platter is SICK(in a good way). Huge plate of food, and so delicious. Prices are great, too! My family requests their donuts every time I visit them on LI. Way better than Dunkin. Take the 6 to Buhre Ave and get yourself some… quality… food at Quality :)

First off, I’ve never actually eaten here before, at least not in the sit down and have a meal sense. However, I use the Buhre Ave. 6 train station pretty often and this place is right down the stairs from it. On colder days and early mornings I often find myself walking in and ordering a cup of coffee and maybe a donut or two for the train ride. They have one of those«World’s Best Cup of Coffee» signs in the window and I can’t help but think of Buddy the Elf…“You did it! Congratulations! World’s best cup of coffee! Great job, everybody!” Unfortunately it’s just standard diner fare coffee… drinkable, but no bragging. The donuts are pretty good, and Cheap! But the rest of the pastries are only so so. Bathrooms are for customer’s only, so just grab a donut or cup of coffee if you need a little relief before/after the long ride into Manhattan, either one will come out to less than a buck. **April Underdog Challenge Day 3**
