Scaglione brothers bakery and deli is a hidden Gem. This place cooks up breakfast and lunch. They have fresh bread baked on site and all the cooking is done there fresh… Soups are great for the winter. They have specials everyday. Wednesday they serve a delicious apple bread which they serve with turkey usually. I personally have it as toast with butter and have a omelette. The atmosphere is always good and most of the people that come in are greeted by their first name. If you are not from the area they will still welcome you and of course cook up a great dish to your liking… Only down fall is the place can get busy like any great deli and putting an order in can be task full if you come at the prime time hours. All an all this place is a must dine if you need a good lunch or breakfast meal. If fresh cooked meals, well made sandwiches, or soup is what you desire this is your place to be. They also offer seating on site as well.

been here numerous times for breakfast and lunch. their sandwiches are both creative and delicious. always fresh and the service is always on point. I usually try to go with their specials because everything is so good.

Scag’s is just a legend for our family. My grandparents live just around the corner, and the infamous Scaglione bread has been the centerpiece to all of our Sunday family dinners. It’s the best bread, like, ever. Seriously. It’s really crispy on the outside, but you break open that outer shell and find a beautifully fluffy and soft interior. Their scones are also something to be savored. Scaglione is an old school staple in this Italian part of the Bronx and a keystone to this community. Luckily, it has remained that way for decades, and that’s why we love it.

The bread is great, their sandwiches are amazing, and they have plenty of great Italian pastries to choose from. The brothers own and run the bakery and often when you go there many of the locals from the neighborhood are having lunch or coffee and shooting the breeze. Can’t get much more authentic than here.

I would give 5 stars just for the bread, but when I order my sandwiches and a pastry on the side… it pushes me to complain to Unilocal for not having 6 stars or even more. Scags is a staple of the neighborhood and is always worth the wait, there’s seating inside, gluten free Italian food products, fresh coffee and a deli that knows how to construct a delicious hero. Forget the other delis that do a good job and go where they do a phenomenal job!
