My husband and I eat and drink at this restaurant almost every Friday night. Their food is delicious especially their churrasco with rice and beans. The new owner is a wonderful lady, great mother and very attentive to your need. They play Latin jazz on Wednesday’s and latin music on Friday nights, after 11pm people move the tables and start dancing salsa. I always enjoy their sangria, food and have a wonderful time hearing their music.

This place has horrible service. The waiter didn’t speak English and was unable to fulfill us. I asked for a Caesar salad and he told me they didn’t have romaine lettuce. My friend asked for meat lasagna and they said they don’t have the meat. My other friend ordered a drink and wanted kettle one and they didn’t have vodka. We had to go to the bar to ask the bartender for water horrible service won’t go there ever

The service here was really slow. There was only one waiter servicing the dining room which had about 7 tables with people. Two of which were large parties. It took over 30 minutes just to get bread and water. The main course that i ordered was chicharonnes de pollo with rice and gandules. Usually when i get chicharonnes de pollo they are cooked from the breast of the chicken; the food I received was dark peices of chicken with fat it was just unappetizing and my rice was COLD. my husband ordered the spanish steak with white rice and pink beans. Steak was bloody and had absolutely no flavor at all. The beans have pork in it which my husband doesnt eat so the waiter was going to bring him a new order of white rice which we never received so we just got tired of waiting and asked for the check. MORALOFTHESTORY: dont waste your time or money.

This place tries to sell the allusion of finer dining, but the food& staff fall short. First of all, the prices are outrageous for the quantity and quality of the food. I ordered a steak that came with mashed potatoes. The potatoes were cold and had no taste. The steak was rubbery– impossible to eat. My husband’s chicken was undercooked and still pink in the center. The salad comes with a house dressing that looks grey and very unappetizing. I couldn’t bring myself to try it. The only thing I liked about this place were the drinks and live music, but I definitely won’t ever step foot in their again.

Today I try Blackened Salmon with yellow rice and black beans as the chef recommended, taste so delicious, the salmon skin is nice and crispy. My husband pick churacco with mashed potato also tasty. We came around 1 pm Friday the place nice and quiet. The waitress so friendly. The bathroom also clean. Good try today.

That food was GROSS!!! The waiter was too busy watching TV to bring our food. When the food final came out I wished I stayed home. The baked clams were over cooked and still attached to the shell. I know I could have gotten a better piece of steak from the supermarket and I’d bet my entire paycheck, that those mashed potatoes were instant. Waste of money. I’ll never go back.

A review of a customer of 2012 reminded me of the only time I went there early in 2000. The roaches were crawling on things behind the bar. My friend ordered, and after seeing the roaches, I didnt order. Seems like 12 years later, they still have a severe infestation. Sad.

Ambiance: Latin restaurant that plays Latin music and kind of remind me of my grandma’s house in DR. Service: The waitress was nice although she took a million years to bring the check even though we were practically the only ones at the restaurant. Food: We had the calamari which was okay but not the best I had. The portions were big which is nice. I had the churrasco with mashed potatoes and it was pretty good. It came with a vinaigrette type of sauce on the side which was good but nothing like the sauce at Bruckner’s. My friend had the seafood asopao(which is like a Dominican version of risotto) and it was pretty tasty although a bit to watery for my taste. Overall the place is chill, nothing fancy but decent. Would I go back? Only if I happen to be in the neighborhood which is not likely.

Congratulations Willie’s! You’re the best at being mediocre. First of all, I usually enter restaurants in the neighborhood with a degree of sarcasm. It is never misplaced. First of all, it’s dark as hell in there. Secondly, the busiest part about this place was the bar. Thirdly, if you’re going to have the place decorated like my mom’s apartment… SHESHOULDBEINTHEBACKCOOKINGTOO. I never thought that Puerto Rican food could be bland and boring. Someone actually compared this place with Peter Luger’s…hahahahahahahahahahhahaha!!! Stay home, Buy yourself some 5 dollar steaks, turn off all of your lights, turn up the Salsa music and enjoy! PS. For added effect — Hide the condiments and invite all of the old people from the community center in your area… INSTANTWILLIE’S EXPERIENCE!!!

Went here for a girl’s night out and had a great time. I’m a vegetarian, and our server was very accommodating. I had some delicious ravioli with mofongo and the prices were a little steep but not too bad, I would say don’t plan to spend less than $ 40 here if you’re with a group. The server we had was very friendly and took time with each of us to make sure the order was correct. Would go again.

Roach crawling across the table as soon as we sat down. Spoke to the manager about it who was very nonchalant and basically said it happens in food service. Will NEVER eat or drink here again!

I was a regular here. We had the same waiter a lot of the time, so he got to know us pretty well. Not upscale, but reallllly hearty and pretty cheap. There’s live music a fair bit. The bread they bring out at the beginning of the meal is garlic bread by default. Order tostones, but if you indulge in the accompanying sauce, be warned that your entire body will reek like garlic all night and possibly into the next day. The churrasco steak and Spanish steak are my favourites, but the porterhouse is almost as good and twice the size. They make some Italian food, which is great, but there’s no reason to order it. Ask for the homemade hot sauce. A good place to go for just drinks, too; you meet some real characters at the bar.

So my gf and I have frequented Willie’s quite a few times and normally enjoy ourselves. Our last 2 visits this summer left much to be desired. The food was good as usual but the service was just bad. On our last visit on 8⁄12 we arrived a little after 8PM. We were promptly seated and given menus. After we made our orders everything went down hill. Our waitress never returned to our table after giving us our drinks. Once the food arrived I purposely left my empty glass near the edge of the table in plain view. She walked by us at least 5 times and never looked our way. Not once asked us if everything was ok or if we needed another drink. The place was somewhat full but I have seen it busier. We finished our meals and if it wasnt for the busboy who stopped by to refill our water we wouldnt have had anything else to drink. Its a shame because my gf and I were planning on staying there a bit longer to enjoy some drinks and the DJ after dinner but with that piss poor service we just paid our bill and left. Its a shame really because it seems that there is only one really good waiter there. I didnt get a chance to get his name but he’s a tall spanish guy. Every time we have sat at one of his tables our night out has been great. Its really a shame because this past outing there has left us with no desire to return in the near future. If we do stop by again we will make sure we get a table at the spanish guy’s section. Too bad it seems that he is the only really good worker there.

We got here and didnt even even get acknowledged for 15 mins! After that we were seated about 15 minutes later which was ok being we didn’t have a reservation. When seated it took forever to get a drink! Although the waitress came over It took over 15 mins and the drinks were horrible watery with no straws which we had to wait an additional 5 minutes to get! After that we placed our order and didn’t see the waitress ever again! 30 minutes passed by and still no salad no would you like another dink nothing! We were completely mortified to be ignored the entire time! We didn’t even stay for our meal we just paid for the horrible drinks and left! Over all this place lacks service! Not what I’m looking for when going out! If you want to dine out and get. Ignored then this place is for you! Other then that pass!

This is a family olé faithful! We love to come here, although it’s all the way across town from my mom in Riverdale, it’s a great place in the Bronx. Where else in the city can you get steak with platanos(fried green plantains) or maduros(fried sweet plantains)! Granted the steak is not prime, it’s still flavorful. All the food is seasoned well and tasty. We love the porterhouse steak with onions and mushrooms(the gravy/sauce is killer), the Paella is my personal favorite(I really don’t like sharing it with anyone), and I love the house dressing on the simple garden salad. Great comfort food; you feel like your eating home cooked food at a friend’s house. Don’t feel like an outsider if you are not Latino, they welcome everyone here(we are Jamaican & American). On Fridays and Saturdays they have live music and dancing. Only in the Bronx, never anywhere else and I love it!!!

A very, very under-rated steakhouse in the Bronx. Willie’s caters to fans of Latin Jazz as a few times a week a band plays while you eat some great tasting, juicy steak with some rice and beans. However, the owners of this place has changed often the last few years. The current owner isnt the friendliest. I walked out one time because of his attittude. The thing is, the owner, which is always there, doesnt keep me away. Check it out, you’ll see.
