Once Upon A Child

They wouldn’t even look at my clothes because the bin they were in was too big. The clothes they did take from a smaller tote, told me afterward that they don’t buy onesies under 9 months. And only what they would buy are matching outfits. A summer onesie is an outfit, unless I’m crazy. They wouldn’t even buy the pants that were name brand and never worn because it wasn’t part of a set. They were very rude and weren’t happy or apologetic at all. Never going back here. I’d rather deal with a rummage than go here again.

I have frequent visit cards to ouac’s in three states: Missouri, Illinois and Wisconsin. I’ve also visited the store in Naples, Fl. This is the worst I’ve seen.
Most of the clothes show a lot of wear and aren’t trendy. I purchased a jacket and the zipper came off after first wear. Brought it back, the employee walked 10 feet over to the manager. Manager didn’t look at garment or turn around to acknowledge me and refused to take jacket back.
I recommend the resale shop in Wauwatosa, near Yo Mama or next door to kids in motion in New Berlin for more quality clothes and better customer service.
Avoid this place at all costs!

I am writing this 1 star review because my wife came home infuriated at the customer service here to which ended up ruining my day.
Wife brings in bags of baby clothes. They refused to take them because they were not in laundry baskets.
Wife goes next door to JoAnn Fabrics to purchase laundry baskets, and then the woman at once upon a child refuses to take the clothes in the laundry baskets because the baskets are too big and she doesn’t want to hurt her back.
She asked if my wife wanted to go next door and ask if they had any boxes she could put the clothing in.
Now wife is even more angry because she just spent money on laundry baskets she did not need to and still has 10 tons of baby clothing.
This is absurd.

If I could give this place less than a star I would. First, they don’t tell you to call ahead on their website. Drove 20 minutes to sell and they weren’t taking anymore clothes (two hours after opening nonetheless). Then, the owner (as she identified herself) took a toy from my son and was rude to him and to me when I asked her about it. When I told her she scared him and upset him her reply, and I quote, was «well he upset me because he was playing with my toy.» I told her she should address the parent, not the child. I will NEVER spend another dime in this place. Speaking with the owner was like speaking to a five year old child in her logic. She better be glad I had my happy heart on today or I would have not been as nice as I was. Do NOT spend your money here! She should be ashamed of herself.

Bought a baby gate and when I took it out of the box (2 weeks later) it was broken and they won’t let me return it, because it’s been two weeks. I said it was never used but they are still being difficult. I told them to look over what they are selling before they charge $ 30 for something that’s unable to be used!

I have to say I was a fan of the store until yesterday. I went in to grab some things for my daughter and the store was buzzing with people. So I get in line with 3 people in front of me. No problem. When it’s my turn she got really nasty with me so much so that lady behind me had to put her hand on my shoulder. So I went to pay and I gave her my card. She asked for ID no problem but she didn’t asked the other ladies in front of me. I gave her my credit card and she wouldn’t give I back. I had to ask for it three times. Then I had to yell at her to put my Card in my damn hand. Come to find she charged me for stuff that wasn’t in my bag and I called her on it. Then she made it seem as if I was causing a scene cause I wanted it corrected. And the manager didn’t say sorry or anything. I don’t know if she was the district manager but I will never give them a damn dime and none of my family or friend will either. You don’t treat people like that and think you’ll be in business long. Seller Beware! This store is known for taking a Very long time to go through your items. (meaning you will most likely get tired of hanging around for 2 plus hours) when they finally call you to tell you to come back for your $ and items, if you can’t make it there before they close … They keep it all … Including your Rubbermaid bin! When I phoned them shortly before they closed for the evening and stated my concern about not getting back in time., they could have cared less. I went to the store the next day to speak with the manager and was treated very poorly. I will never step foot inside the store again. I hope those who received my daughters top name new clothes enjoy them!

I’ve been here a few times and have mixed experiences. I’ve heard that they’re picky about the clothing that they buy-​meaning name brand, not stained, not smelling like smoke, etc, but the clothing says something different. A lot of the toys, books and strollers have a lot of dust on them. My daughter reached to grab a toy and her hand came back gray. Oops. Second, the entire store smells very strongly like smoke. I bought a few items here this morning and when I opened the bag I was caught in an overwhelming smokey smell. Even the shoes smelled. Third, the staff here isn’t very friendly. I’ve never tried to sell things here before, but I do shop here on occasion. There are women behind the counter that clearly see people walk in and they don’t bother to greet anyone. My experience at the register was subpar to say the least. The woman didn’t say a word to me the entire time.
That being said, I bought three pairs of infant size 4 shoes for $ 13.50-so the price is good. Just make sure you wash the clothes to get the smoke smell out and wipe down any toys. I wouldn’t buy any baby bouncers or crib stuff here just because of the smoke smell.

I am not sure why there are so many bad reviews. I have never tried to sell but I do buy all of my sons shoes and some of his pants/​shorts. Why would I pay $ 48 for shoes when I can get them for $ 7-​$ 10. As far as management I just returned a pair of shoes and shorts and had no problem. I have always had a great shopping experience.

Horrible staff that has never heard of customer service. This is the most unfriendly group of people I have ever seen in the customer service realm. I cannot believe that anyone would give them repeat business. They are rude, do not offer help without asking and after dragging items there decide that they aren’t taking anymore that day (they said no word of this on the phone). They cannot prioritize or do things in an orderly manner. After waiting an hour for them to sort through a small box, they then said they needed more time to enter in computer. Meanwhile three people were standing around chatting with each other. There prices are so outrageous. Everyone is better off joining resale baby sites on Facebook… so much more affordable. The prices here are ridiculous especially with what they give you on items you are selling. They are so clueless. They do not know what the relevant or desirable brands are… What a joke! Stay away from this miserable place!

I know I have left there not feeling altogether great in the past but my recent experience will make me not return. Ever.
I bought 4 overpriced dresses last week. When I got them home 1 was far too large so I went to return it. I was told that since it was considered a Holiday dress (velvet), it couldn’t be returned.
I paid $ 10 for it and felt that I overpaid as it was considering it wasn’t anything special but to then be told that even though tags were on and it was within a week I could «sell it back to them for significantly less».
Unacceptable customer service. I have felt that my business didn’t matter in the past but now it has been confirmed.
Children’s Orchard on Hwy 100 and National is always better quality and ALWAYS less expensive. They are moving to New Berlin to expand so I will simply never return to Once Upon a Child.
When I politely mentioned that this will make me not return to the owner she didn’t seem at all concerned.

Staff was rude and snotty… barely took any items, also took them 4 hours to call me and for the record the hat they did buy has a hole on the left side lol so maybe the inspectors who work there should be better trained as well as given a lesson on manners smh I wouls not recommend selling to or buying from this business

Decided to give it one more shot, as I had other errands to do in the area. Big shocker… they stopped buying 3 hours early! Yippee. Seriously, why post buying hours on Saturday if you never adhere to them? Hire one more staff member, or just say we buy until we feel like stopping.

Horrible! That’s all I can say about this place, their costumer service is awful, no communication, lack of respect, I can go on. I want everyone to be aware of how bad this place is, do not take your items to them, they will rip you off and donate your items without your knowledge. I wouldn’t even give then a star they don’t deserve a half of a star, please be beware and don’t let them fool you.

It is a waste of
My time and energy. Had a horrible experience from the rudeness and snotty staff. Telling me it would b a few hours then went all the way home and it was less than a Hour. They didn’t take any of my barely worn gap and other name brand clothes cause they were apparently more than two seasons old? I have seen some of the crap and it’s not name brand and looks crappy. 3 bins of great cloths and only got $ 10!!! WASTE of my gas and time and energy

I was very much looking forward to visiting this place given that our second child, a boy, is due in a few weeks. Unfortunately, I was completely underwhelmed by this place. The previous Unilocaler mentioned how picky they are here which indicated excellent quality. I couldn’t disagree more. Most everything was overpriced and in average condition. I saw very little good to excellent shape. I picked up a car seat cover to find quite a bit if hair attached to the inside –gross! The shoe bins are filled with overpriced crappy shoes. The strollers and other baby gear quality varied greatly but were all overpriced. They have a walker that currently retails at Walmart for about $ 29.99 that they’re selling at $ 20 — that’s hardly a deal. Many of their toys are filthy and most — like everything else — are overpriced.
I’m bummed. Truly, I was looking forward to this being a go-​to place. It’s just not worth it when I can shop sales and come at or slightly above their prices. I’d much rather go that route than navigate through this over cramped and over priced mess of a place.

i’ll start this out with a positive. the management is extremely picky meaning excellent quality. I used to recommend this company to anyone who wants name brand clothes for less than retail price. I say used to be because the owner has proven to be unhinged. read google reviews. I never had an issue until today. I wrote a review 2 months ago stating that I thought the management was too picky in choosing clothes to buy from customers. I have still been shopping there and selling there since. I dropped off some clothes today and got a call from the owner stating that I had to pick my basket up and i can’t sell to her until I take down my bad review. I said I would if that made her feel better but she continued to be defensive. I asked if she read the positive statements but she continued to defensive and boarder line hostile. I told her I was entitled to my opinion and obviously I didn’t hate her store because I wouldn’t have continued to come. the conversation didn’t end well and I didn’t pick up my basket and I will not shop there again. usually people who own their own businesses want to rectify issues and make the customer happy. this owner apparently does not.
