I ordered a strawberry shortcake on a Thursday for a Sunday party. Ten minutes after I ordered the cake, we had to change the party to Saturday. I called the bakery immediately, told them who I was and asked if I could have the cake for Saturday at 11a.m. rather than Sunday. I was told«absolutely, no problem!» My husband went in on Saturday to pick up the cake and they had no record of my call, even though he brought the receipt. There was one strawberry shortcake in the fridge and the woman pulled it out for him. My husband asked if it was fresh and was assured that it was. We were so excited to present it for our party… I had tasted their cake just the week before at a work function, so was eager for our family to try it. It was STALE, and too late to pick up and serve another cake. Disappointed, we returned to the bakery today to explain what had happened. A young woman with a horseshoe piercing in her nose listened to our story and said, «too bad». We were embarrassed to have served that cake to our guests, paid good money for a promised fresh product and were completely blown off by the«woman in charge.» We will never spend our money there again. My grandparents owned 5 bakeries in Delco for 40 years and never treated their customers that way!

An institution. I’ve been coming here for all my 40 years. The sugar cookies are consistently delicious. They’re always stocked with all varieties of goodies. Lovely cakes. Festively frosted cupcakes. It’s nice to see places like Kyjs are still around. The ladies that work there are friendly even at 7am!

This was recommended by a friend and it was awful. Girl was rude — more so because I had never been there before. Ordered birthday cake to pick up next day. it was a pound cake and it was dry and tasteless. So disappointed. Supermarket cake would of been better.

Had some time to myself on a day off. I decided to check a couple of places off of my Unilocal Delco list. This had been on it for a long time. Definitely 4 stars because that pound cake is worth the calories. It would have been 5 stars if they had some coffee at 3 pm. Or any drinks for sale whatsoever. But they were nice enough to give me a free cup of water.

Western Delco mainstay. Where else can u find and old fashioned bakery with REAL cakes and pies, Not the supermarket junk? Additionally, they take preorders for homemade pierogies a la the old chester way. Seasonal favorites always abound! Just got my handmade easter eggs which come in 6 varieties. My GOTO place for holidays and special occasions.

Kyj’s(pronounced ‘keys’) is a Delaware County mainstay. The number of outlets has decreased over time but they distribute their products to other vendors. Ordered some donuts and Danish. The filling for the blueberry Danish was preprepared and not homemade. 16 donuts, a Danish, and a large coffee for under $ 20. Pleasant service as well

Love this place! We went there on Tuesday & picked up a cake that was chocolate cake over cheesecake with chocolate mousse(I forget the name of it) — It was the most delicious cake I’ve ever had! The staff was very nice &helpful.she even fit Happy Birthday on there :) I don’t go there often, but everything I’ve tried was great !

I had been to Kyj’s once before many years ago and always thought of them as a bakery selling cakes, cookies, pastries, etc. Then, I read on a local foodie blog for Philly, that they offer really good pierogies. I immediately called them and heard all out about their pierogies: in addition to classic pierogies, they make them in a variety of different flavors(crab, cheesesteak, jalepeno… the girl gave me a list that went on and on, and then she said they will custom-make orders too). Their pierogies are made fresh on Tues and Thurs in the Chester bakery, and they run a bunch right over to b-haven. Anyway, I was so impressed, and though it’s a bit of a trip to get there, I went over that day. I also stopped at another local place that makes fresh pierogies(will not mention their name) and got another batch so we could do an apples-to-apples comparison for dinner. Hands down, the Kyj’s pierogies were much better; the casings were soft, not chewy, and the filling had an awesome velvety texture. The taste, of course was the deciding factor, and it was a lot more creamy and rich than the other ones. Best part was, Kyj’s is a fair bit cheaper for far better quality. Kyj’s offers a ½ dozen(potato) for $ 3.75, and a doz for $ 7.99. The other place has a ½ dozen(potato) for $ 5.98, and a doz for $ 10.98. Needless to say, we’ve been twice now in the past couple weeks, and are super-happy with this discovery. We are going to branch out and try more of their items next… those peanut butter candy cakes sound AWESOME! Update 10÷15÷13 — Tried their version of an oversized Tastykake peanut butter kandy kake, and it was EXCELLENT! I am posting a photo of these 4″ diameter whoppers. The kandy kake is my favorite of all Tastykakes and I’ve downed quite a few in my day. I have to say the taste was spot-on even though the chocolate was not as hard and it seemed like they had a smaller layer of pb on it. Somehow the proportions and consistencies still worked because the taste was just like a pb kandy kake. Btw, Kyj’s calls them«peanut butter blossoms» and you need to pre-order, at least if you’re getting them from this Brookhaven location. I am posting a photo of these awesome treats! Can you imagine the eyes of a child seeing one of these? Priceless!

Some of my earliest birthday memories include KYJ’s cakes!!! Throughout my childhood my mom would always pick up a bag of sugar cookies or cream cheese cookies to reward good behavior, the honor roll, a clean room, etc. Even in college — she would bring a box down to the University of Richmond for parent’s weekend or overnight a box in the mail for me and my roommates to share! I’m 30 now — and got a taste for some KYJ cookies the other day — luckily I don’t live too far! A quick call to mom — and she picked up the yummy sugar cookies for me! Sitting in my office now munching on them and trying to get over the 3:00PM hump! Yum, yum, yum!!!

as much as I enjoyed their treats as a child I will not purchase any items from this bakery again… the service was rude, rushed and more rude… asking questions is not allowed although the cost of a pound of cookies, etc is not posted… even the young employees seem to have an attitude… great old school cookie taste bad new age attitude…

I love this place! They have the most delicious cake. I’m completely addicted to their pound cake, and they have some decorated cakes there that are absolutely gorgeous and very reasonably priced! Also – they make their own peanut butter candy cakes, which are AWESOME!!!

Rude, rude rude– like can’t care if I live or die rude. Not too nice stuff either, they are getting old and burnt-out I think. Go to Sinfully Delicious. Better attitude, beautiful creations, and I personally think better value for the money. If you are going to be decadent, make it couint.
