Most locals seem to love this place. I’ve been there twice by 8 am and the place was sold out, so from a business perspective I’m not sure what their plan is bc there is literally nothing on the shelves at that point, to invite people into the store. But that being said, the donuts I’ve had there were really good. Covered in glaze so that helps. They’ve just been doing it this way forever and they’ll just continue with. I did have a cupcake and have to say that the icing was a little chemically tasting, so not certain what ingredients are used.

UPDATE!!! I did get the carrot cake I longed for in my first review.
I ordered a couple dozen for a coworker’s birthday a few weeks ago, and they were amazing. All fresh everything.
Their donuts are perfect. My faves are the glazed lemon filled and the apple fritters.
Next up, cheesecake! I mentioned it to Rick on my last visit, and he just happened to have a sample, which I tried and it was perfect. Nice and smooth… thick… hefty… just the way it’s supposed to be.
This is absolutely my go-​to bakery, and at least half a dozen people have asked me for the contact information so they could place an order over the past few months.

Phatso’s bakery is by far the best donut shop I have found in Philly. Dunkin donuts can keep their frozen donuts because I will definitely be a return customer from here on out!

Co workers brought some donuts in for our morning meeting. Not sure about the price but they said it was pretty cheap compared to other places. I’m not a fan of donuts but had myself a glazed one. It was pretty good, seemed fresh enough! I think if you are a donut fan you should try this place out or if you’re looking to bring some sweets to share in the office this is a good spot.

Visiting from Florida went to Unilocal for a bakery. When a place almost sells out by noon that tells you something. Best muffins and lemon filled donuts ever. That’s all that was left, yummy. Also love the father son vibe.

By far THE BEST Apple Fritters in the area, it actually melts in. your mouth. The buttonholes ar amazing. I ordered a last minute birthday cake and Rick was able to accommodate. The cake was beautiful and absolutely delicious!!! My daughter loved it! Thank-​you so much.

Really great donuts and friendly service! Just don’t blink or you may drive right past it on this rather nondescript street. If it’s your first visit, definitely let them know and you’ll likely be in for a free treat. The glazed donuts are easily as good as crispy crème!

I haven’t been there but people at the office bring their donuts into work. I wasn’t particularly impressed. In actuality they were a bit greasy and oily tasting. Not going to be my donut place.

Amazing — another Chester /​Delco staple! I’m pretty sure that Krispy Kreme infringed on Phatsos recipe… try as they might, Phatsos still has Krispy Kreme beat! Those glazed donuts are ab fab … no, not fabulous for your abs, but absolutely fabulous as they totally and completely melt in your mouth. So glad I do not work or live nearby, or else, I could quite possibly be the next contestant for Biggest Loser.

Long story short, I had to change trains on my a.m. commute and get off @ the Chester station @ like 6a.m. Like an oasis in the desert, theres a beacon of light across the street and I SMELL DONUTS. An ol’ fashion bakery/​donut shop drew me in like a magnet. And yes they were soooo gooood. Donkin’ aint real donuts (hint: they taste the same after 2 days in the bag) Check it out people.

I have to say that nestled in the heart of Chester, Pa is a fine little bakery that delivers big. The stuff is simple — breakfast fare mostly. But the doughnuts were great. Stop in and say hello to Rick, the owner, or his son. You’ll be greeted with a smile and leave with one of your own.
