hubby and i finally stopped in to cielito lindo for dinner. we were both truly impressed with the customer service and quality of the meals we ate. i had a bowl of menudo — omg. it was the best. it didn’t have hominy as i’ve been used to, but that was alright, because the taste and ingredients were fresh and delicioso! they gave me a plate with all the add-ins(onions, cilantro, oregano, etc.) and 3 fresh tortillas. it was such a large bowl, i had planned on eating half and taking half home… needless to say i slurped every last drop right there. and the gal asked me what happened to my plan on taking half home? i had to admit that it was SO good, i couldn’t help myself. the salsa verde and red salsa were equally as delicious. hubby had two soft tacos with ground beef and rice/beans. the beans were the best he’d had(and i’ve tasted) in quite a while, and the rice was SO good — flavorful and cooked just right. his tacos were the best — fresh and perfectly seasoned beef with just the right amount of ‘fixings’.

Located in an old gas station. Has a few tables at a counter and two small tables. I always take my food to go. Great carne asada tacos and carnitas burrito. If you like good authentic Mexican food then you will find none better in the brooking area.

I travel to Brookings for work and family and eat at my usual spots but this time I decided to try something quick and easy on my last day in town. I had the breakfast burrito and the chorizo was perfect. The tortilla they use is warm and soft and doesn’t fall apart as most do. The service was attentive and quick. I would recommend this quick breakfast to anyone even though it is located in an old gas station I would be back. I do think they should get rid of the old gas station pull ups to look more like a store/grill

My husband and I stumbled upon this little hole in the wall mexican store/restaurant. we were wanting a quick breakfast burrito without having to resort to Taco Bell. So finding this place was a little treat. the place definitely was authentic we had the Machaca burrito it was good but a tad bland and no salt and their red salsa was bland as without spice or salt; but it’s okay it still beat going to a Taco Bell ect. Last but not least The service was ironically a bit bland as well.

This is a typical hole in the wall restaurant… A old gas station that has been turned into a mom and pop restaurant. * employees… Some what friendly. They didn’t go out of their way to be polite… There was one lady behind the register counter that was very friendly. * inside building… Clean. Smelling of great mexican food. * food… ABSOLUTELYGREAT. My wife had a CARNEASADASOPA which she said was great. A lot of flavor. I had a CARNAASADABURRITO. Absolutely WONDERFUL… Not to bad for $ 8.50. … We ordered a soft CHICKENTACO($ 2.49) for CAMI(our chihuahua dog). She ate the entire taco. Meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato. We also ordered a CHILIRELLENO which was very, very good. ** over all experience… GREAT… We loved the food and will continue to eat there… ** cost. a little high. We spent $ 25.00. BUTWELLWORTHIT

Authentic Mexican food at this hole-in-the-wall old gas station location. I’ve eaten the best of Mexican food and this place is a great local find. I love the basic bean and cheese burrito here(so good!) The chile verde plate or chile verde burrito is great, too! Or the chile rellenos(yum!!) Have loved all the tacos I’ve tried. I crave the food here. Don’t be put off by the location. And sometimes they aren’t the friendliest :-(But I’ll keep coming back. The food is worth it! Forget about Taco Bell! This is the place to go!

Great food, horrible service. If you can put up with the very poor customer service you might enjoy the food. The bad service leaves a lasting bad taste that is barely neutralized by the food.

If you are looking for taqueria style mexican food. This is your place. Before Cielito Lindo a.k.a. Texaco Mexico to the locals… good carne asada tacos were not easy to come by. The super burritos are also very good. A little pricey for taqueria food though but it’s the only in town like it.

I stopped in based on the positive Unilocal reviews. I actually didn’t expect to find any seating, but there are 4 small tables. Definitely not a fancy atmosphere… very much still a gas station ambiance, but since I was getting my food to go, who cares? I got a basic carnitas burrito with a small red salsa. Too much for me to eat and only $ 5.95, so a pretty good deal for 2 meals! It was really an excellent burrito. The meat was extremely tasty and tender, the salsa was a tiny bit hot, but exactly right. The 2 ladies working there were efficient, pleasant, and friendly. It’s not the kind of place for a fancy dinner date, but I’m really looking forward to stopping in again. They have a pretty extensive menu… and birria, which I’ll try sometime. I should have gotten the posole, but that will have to be next time. Yes… real Mexican people cooking good quality food.

The food is delicious and the prices are spot on with other mexican places in town. As others have said the service could use a smile here and there but its take out? No one has ever been rude or messed up my order. Five stars for the best burritos in town.

So dank. This place is the best. Best Mexican food in town and the people are extremely cultural and charming. I recommend the tongue burrito.

I love coming here anytime of day! Wether its for a chicken chimichanga or the shredded chicken super nachos! You might be fooled by the outside of the place because it does look like an old gas station! And once you’re inside don’t be confused by the small cooking area! These ladies know how to make food and they are super nice every time! :)

When I want a taco, this is where I go. The adobada pork here is really good. Everything is reasonably priced as well. HUGE burritos! I’m giving only 4 stars because there is consistency issue with the flavor depending on who is working that day.

Not a good place to stop, it is in a gas station, not sure if the clerk who makes the food washes her hands between money and food prep. Very scary!

5 stars? Have the Jim’s and the Judy ever been in a real Mexican restaurant? Lets subtract a few stars for my 2 fish tacos swimming in grease on the plate, keep subtracting for my side of beans and rice costing $ 4.50, and you know I am subtracting a star for the lunch counter lady who had the personality of a tetanus shot. I sure do miss my taco trucks!

Directly across from the Curry Coastal Pilot Newspaper and centrally located this mini market houses Cielito Lindo in Brookings. I had two fish taco’s and they were $ 1.99 each. If you have a craving for authentic Mexican this location is a must. If your travelling by bike or car, pull in, I love good mexican food.
