This is a nice quiet beach. We stayed in Brookings for a few days and wanted to find a quiet beach close by for the dogs and kid to play and just enjoy the Oregon coast in July. This beach fit the bill quite nicely. We got there and parking was ample as there were only three other cars in the parking lot. When we got to the beach, there was only one other family to be seen. The kid immediately stripped down to hew bathing suit and got to playing in the water and sand as kids should be able to do. I saw the sign in the parking lot that said dogs are to be leashed, so wanting to obey the law and not being from the area and knowing the local protocol, I kept my small French Bulldog and dachshund on a leash. Although I saw a couple of other people with their dogs off leash and nobody seemed to mind and everybody and dog kept to themselves and I think it would have been okay to let mine run around off lease for a while, I decided otherwise. We spent a couple of hours on this beach, and the kid, dogs, and adults all seemed to enjoy themselves and the wonderful July weather in Southern Oregon.

A couple of miles north of Brookings. Easy access, good parking lot, picnic tables on an asphalted pathway. Path accesses a sandy cove, which is surrounded by rocky outcrops. Parking lot and path is almost at sea level, so no scrambling required. You can walk south on the beach, and go from cove to cove. Each one is more isolated and quiet. The third one down is very placid, guarded by several rock formations. An impressive series of quiet beaches. Free.

Joe and I drove from SF up to Bandon, OR and made a stop here, a few miles north of Brookings. The rock formations here are absolutely incredible, and there’s tons of wild blackberries that you can pick and eat. It was absolutely gorgeous, and definitely worth hanging out for a morning or afternoon. It may have been the most scenic part of our entire coastal drive.
