Very cute store with a outstanding mix of hipster friendly items! The store is tiny. The staff not friendly at all. Not a hello, not a welcome or a thanks for coming. Strange.

Went to return a defected kitchen towel which I paid a lot for and was told that since I used it once that I would need to pay for it. Unreal — hurting customers due to a defected product its not good business practice. Will not go there again.
I was thrilled at first to see a new local business open in Coolidge Corner that sells well-made, environmentally friendly products. I have been incredibly disappointed, however, with the customer service. I have visited 2 – 3 times to look for gifts, and was not greeted by an employee when I walked in any of those times. No one even asked if I needed help as I browsed the store for nearly 10 minutes today, despite the fact that at least two people were working and there was only one other shopper. I found this to be very unwelcoming and the experience made me less inclined to come back. If the staff created a more welcoming environment, though, I think Boston General Store has great potential.

A great collection of high-quality home gifts, especially focusing on dude-centric items. I love the dog coats, old timey toothbrushes and toothpaste, small batch coffee beans and accoutrements especially. Perfect for the hard to buy for.(Also: McCrea’s single malt scotch caramels!)

Great new addition to the Coolidge Corner neighborhood. Lots of unique gifts, most following the farm-to-fork, natural/organic, urban adventurer, made in america, lumbersexual craze going on these days… cards, journals, firestarters, reclaimed watches, DIY herb gardens, all-natural toothpaste, waxed canvas bags, single-piece leather wallets… tons of cool things tucked into every corner of this little place. Will definitely stop back to see what new wares they carry. Already spotted a few good christmas gifts for my friends and family.

The latest addition to Coolidge Corner neighborhood, Boston General Store seeks to provide a modernized version of the purveyors of old. From Japanese pour-over coffee systems and cutting boards to spiced honeys and scented candles, this store is going to be a real boon when gift hunting. On first look it may seem like an attempt at an adult Urban Outfitters, but the stock is clearly of the highest quality and the atmosphere brings polished wood and leather to mind. The staff is cheerful and fairly knowledgeable about their eclectic inventory. If I had one qualm, it’s that many of the items did not have price tags. That said, the store has been open less than a week at the time I write this. I’ll certainly keep Boston General Store in mind come the holiday rush.
