Yes, they mixed what I needed. Yes, they made me come back the next day because it was too late in the day to get a script filled. The girl doing the check-out could have been nicer about it though. Eh, I don’t expect much from a formulary pharmacy.

Go thru the arches. Seriously or you will never find this place. Tucked neatly into the bottom of a medical building this tiny pharmacy has it all. Quick service, friendly people, and drugs! In my mind, that is really all I need from a pharmacy. Oh wait, quarters. You need quarters to park. I only had a few so it got a little interesting. Either way, great girls working there and I’m a fan!

Wonderful independent pharmacy with good prices, fast order filling and great personalized service when you have a question. They actually answer their phone – immediately, with no need to press numbers to get to a real person! Prices on what I’ve bought are as good – or better – than chain pharmacies. The staff is smart, engaged, caring and speaks excellent English – way different from the chain experience. A couple times I had issues with my prescription which were not the fault or responsibility of the pharmacy. The staff went out of its way to research the issues – calling the doctor, the pharmaceutical suppler etc. – and called me back with a complete answer promptly. That kind of follow-through just doesn’t exist anymore, or hardly at all! There’s no sign on the outside, and you walk in through Cloister-like arches to get inside. Store is pleasant, small and non-hectic– with one person at most in front of you. They fill your order immediately, 5 mins at most. Unlike chain stores which routinely have 20 minute waits even during quiet times, apparently designed to trap you like a rat in a cage so you’ll drop more money there. Pierce has no parking lot but I always find a spot on the street close by. Oh and did I mention they answer their phone? Oh yes I did but let me say it yet again. THEYANSWERTHEIRPHONE! CVS is out of my life and it feels so good! Update: For some reason this review was filtered before. But I have no connection with this pharmacy. I’m just a happy consumer and I don’t know why my review was filtered.

J.E. Pierce is the best pharmacy that I have ever used. Much like the reviewers before me, I grew tired of using Walgreen’s(where I was forced to wait hours for prescriptions and received lackluster service). The staff at J.E. Pierce is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and just plain cool. I can’t say enough good things about them. How many pharmacies answer the phone when you call? That alone is worth the patronage. Plus, as a product of a «mom and pop» family business, I can’t help but support the independent businesses of Boston.

Amazing. This place is everything CVS is not. They are quick, cheap, and the people who work here are knowledgeable. Some of the prescriptions I have compounded here need to be kept cool. One hot summer day I asked the pharmacist if the meds would survive my long bike-ride home. They gave me a cold-pack to keep things cool! In the three years I’ve been having my prescriptions filled here I’ve never been less than totally satisfied.

I’m psyched to hear that J.E. Pierce provides Plan B for $ 35 instead of $ 50, as I will file that away in my «in case of emergency» file in the back of my head. Before even reading their Plan B awesomeness, I came here to write a review of their compounding awesomeness. A while back I came down with a hellish sinus infection(that would later be tied back to my mastocytosis, yay!) and my ENT thought it might be worth a shot to try an experiment with an amphotericin nasal lavage thing(think medicated neti pots). Anyway, I called my not-so-awesome neighborhood CVS and they had no idea what the hell I was talking about. I called a few more pharmacies before stumbling upon J.E. Pierce, and steeled myself and began the«ok, this is going to sound really weird, but I can I get an amphotericin solution for…» and the cheerful sounding pharmacist cut me off and said, «Absolutely, we can have that prescription filled within the hour, just fax it over» Music to my ears. As others have mentioned, finding this place can be a little difficult since it does appear to be in the ground floor of an apartment complex, but it is so, so so so so so worth it. If I didn’t live in Watertown and have all my prescriptions at CVS(and am somewhat a sucker for their 24 hour convenience as well as the fact I can walk there) I would absolutely go here for everything. In writing this review I’m seriously reconsidering moving all my scripts here actually. Seriously, it’s a –pharmacy-. That’s it. No «as seen on TV» aisle, no makeup, no tabloids… You get your prescriptions filled and handed to you by a –pharmacist-, who will(and can) discuss dosage, side effects, ways to combat side effects, drug interactions, everything in a knowledgeable and calming manner. Dealing with an actual Pharmacist as opposed to a pharmacy tech makes a huge difference, especially if you are dealing with multiple or complicated or rare medications. A life saving difference to be honest, as on more than one occasion I’ve been given incorrect into by a pharmacy tech at CVS. Plus, even as a stand alone store, they are kicking the chains asses when it comes to the price for emergency contraception, which is awesome.

Oh thank god for Ariel P’s review. Accidents happen and I needed Plan B. Super quick, discreet, nonjudgmental, not awkward(unlike prescription experience in general at CVS), and a mere $ 35(CVS charges $ 50+). Walking into the unmarked building, I felt like I was walking into an apartment complex, but the pharmacy was easy to find once I stepped inside. I was in and out in 5 minutes but I plan on returning to fill any future prescriptions, especially if I have questions. While at chain pharmacies, I often question the knowledge of the pharmacists, I felt confident here. They had many people working away behind the counter, not just dilly-dallying. In the end it’s all the same drug no matter where you go, but I felt soo much better going to an actual(and local) pharmacy to fulfill my pharmaceutical needs.

Peoples of Unilocal — let me be useful and tell you where you can get your prescription done in 5MINUTES(!). Somewhere friendly professional and efficient… It’s at 1180BEACON. There is no sign and no board outside. This little pharmacy tucked away in a building full of doctors offices is the place to head to if you, like me, are sick to death of CVS and Walgreen’s where you are made to wait 2 hrs, surrounded by sketchies and treated like you’ll be selling on/chemically modifying what they give you. I’m so glad I found this place. They also have some magazines, drinks, cards, and pharmacy stuff. A good collection of old drug bottles on display and they advertise having the best coffee in town. I’ll let you onto another secret… the coffee isn’t all that good. But it’s 85c(!)
