Mal’s Tree & Landscape

My housing association needed a dead tree removed. Although this company was quick to send someone for a quote that seemed reasonable, they were totally unprofessional in their dealings with us in that they didn’t wait for our decision on their quote (while we consulted our neighbours) and failed to inform us when they came around and did the job. This seriously disrupted our next door neighbours as well as those in our condo who had small children. It then took two weeks and phone calls for them to clear the mess they’d made in the neighbour’s yard. What was worse, and why I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone who needs a professional outfit, is that we still have not received a receipt for the money we paid them despite numerous phone calls to Mal and promises from him that he hasn’t bothered to fulfill. If you’re fine with a company that does what it pleases when it pleases with zero consideration for its customers that can’t be trusted to its principle’s word, then by all means hire this outfit.

My parents’ house has a large tree in front that desperately needed to be trimmed. I called Mal and he was able to send someone out the next day to asses it and give me a fair quote. The process was easy and they did a great job.
They also do snow removal which is helpful since I don’t want my parents outside shoveling. Luckily this winter was a breeze but I have Mal’s number saved.

Promised his team would show up and asked me to be home… No call… No show… No apology… Totally unprofessional. A Shame because the company did have good reviews…

This place is a star in its field. They have great precise ways to not only cut, care and build for any assignment, they also great with making sure they take care and address customer concerns and needs. I helped my great-​aunt with her business with her them because she needed them to give order to her front and back yards. They gave her a decent and fair estimate. They trimmed, cut and all took care all the problem areas and even helped improve the care of her apple and lemon trees she has planted. They have well trained professionals and they use their best equipment and tools that they have to use. She was fond of their work (and believe me she is picky!), she even had them come back later in the summer to build her the really nice patio she wanted and that after get 3 different consults.
I highly recommend at least setting up a consult and look into what they have to offer. You won’t be disappointed. They have you and your needs as their top priority because they believe in top satisfaction for their work. Any issues you feel or think that are present, just call them !

Mal’s came back and cut down the remaining trees. Happy the owner was in contact with us about finishing the job

This business drove over the lawn, leaving deep tire ruts the length of the lawn. Mal had integrity enough to admit to the damage & promise to fix the damage, but unfortunately never came to fix it, despite setting up four different dates to do so. We hate to write a negative review about a business, but feel we have no choice because they have not yet come to fix the damage after 3 months. We are giving the business every opportunity to do the right thing and fix the damage, clear their conscience, and their reputations on Unilocal and in the community.

I don’t know if they’re any better value or more/​less responsive than their many competitors, but boy do they do good, precision work, from trimming to planting to cleanup. Aces.

Surely, these reviews are biased as satisfied customers don’t usually review. I took a chance on Mal’s because they were the most expedient in addressing my urgent tree problem. They got here, cleared my tree and were on their way at a reasonable price. I couldn’t have asked for a better situation. Thanks Mal!
