Rod Dee is a bomb Thai place. Probably one of the best around Boston. It’s cash only, so don’t forget to withdraw some money before coming here. The atmosphere is very casual. nothing too fancy. It doesn’t deliver to Boston College, but it will deliver to apartment nearby. I got the rice with squid last time. but I’ve also gotten pad thai with crispy chicken and tasted the Bangkok Duck. Those two dishes are sooooooooo good, especially the duck. The portions are relatively big, and prices are relatively cheap. So you definitely get your money’s worth. This place is just a great to just chill and eat some good Thai food. Definitely coming here again to order the bangkok duck! :D

This small takeout restaurant serves delicious Thai food and drinks for a good price. What I appreciate is that they offer to make your meal as spicy as you’d like. Also, many of their menu items give options for meat, chicken, or seafood add-ons. I have been and ordered from there several times and have yet to be disappointed. Not to mention that I often go with a friend from Thailand who claims that the food taste very authentic They have a wide array of menu items including desserts but a few great picks are their pad thai with crispy chicken, pad see ew, tom yum noodle soup, tom yum fried rice, and thai donuts. My favorite meal thus far has been the pad Thai with crispy chicken with added spice and a thai iced coffee on the side.

Great place to hangout with the delicious real Thai taste meal. I have been there several times and each time i will order different menu, meal of rice, noodle, or sweet. The taste is favor by most of the Thai people, because its not a mix of western and Thai but its pure Thai style.

This little Thai place is a slight walking distance from my place and boy, is it needed! Cheap, delicious, and a wide variety of options. As a new grad student, my budget is awfully tight but I like to still try and get out like I have money to spare. Rod Dee is the perfect place. You can easily take out and bring it back home or sit in the restaurant. It is very casual sitting but it isn’t super dive-y like some places that offer takeout in the area. They have a ton of options on the menu for meat lovers and vegetarians alike. I’ve been there twice and loved both my and my husband’s food. The curry is delicious and a steal at less than 8 bucks. I’ve also had the crispy squid and pad thai — both very tasty, especially for a cheap meal. Keep in mind that it is cash only — but they do have an ATM there in case you forget.

Very good food, but a few«catches» prevent me from giving 5 stars. The food is very good Thai, not too greasy and tastes fresh. The price is right, as well, with entrees costing about $ 7 – 10, soups $ 3.50, etc. Overall, it’s well worth the price and you won’t be disappointed or end up with an upset stomach like you will at some places. On the other hand, the delivery takes a few too many pot shots at you. They’re cash only(a huge pet peeve of mine since I rarely carry cash), and they have a delivery minimum of $ 15. Since the food is cheap, you have to order quite a few items to get to that number. That’s great for leftovers, but in my opinion things like Pad Thai are better the first night, so I end up wasting some of it and feeling bad that I ordered it. I recommend this place. It’s even better if you pick up.

Wow. I’m furious. I love their food and all, but I deducted 2 stars merely for crappy service. I called to ask them if they deliver to Brighton, she says yes. I put my order in then the lady hangs up on me without asking for my address. When I call back, «another lady» says its a $ 15 mininum. I put another lady in quotes because she claims someone else took my order, but I recognized her voice. I know they’re busy, but they should really know the drill. It took forever to call them back because the line was constantly busy, not their fault, I know. But I shouldn’t have to call multiple times to get an order. Boo you Rod Dee! I’m bringing my entire household’s thai food business elsewhere!

It’s a question that has plagued generations. Wars have been fought over this very conundrum. Neither Democrats nor Republicans know the answer. Dear Abby would be stumped. Should I order Pad See Ewe or Pad Thai? Pad See Ewe is amazing, but sometimes just noodles, broccoli, and chicken gets boring. Pad Thai is also amazing, but(wo)man cannot survive on Pad Thai alone. Once in a while, the pallet needs something else. Rod Dee has found the solution. A dish called Star Noodles. Wide, flat noodles with carrots, broccoli, bean sprouts, mushrooms, egg, shrimp, and chicken. A combination of Pad Thai, Pad See Ewe, and a little something extra. Rejoice. But rejoice with cash, ’cause this place won’t take cards.

This is basically takeout only. Yeah, they have a couple of small tables, but who wants to dine next to the trash can with people hovering over you and someone opening the door, letting in blasts of cold air during the winter months(which in Boston is like half the year) every 20 seconds? Rod Dee is cheap and tasty. For $ 7 or $ 8, you get a really yummy dish that’s enough food for 2 or 3 meals. Absolutely perfect if you’re on a student budget. Absolutely perfect even if you’re not on a student budget. Is it the best Thai food on the planet, or the most authentic? No… but so what? Seriously… it’s good. Damned good! I don’t care what you call it. While you’re getting your knickers in a twist over semantics and linguistic deconstructivism, I’m going to be sitting over here eating some incredibly good Pad Thai and Luck Samee Long Song, enjoying myself and feeling very sorry for you.

Its cheap, its fast, its clean, and its tasty. I could just leave it at that but this place deserves more props than that. If you are expecting a fine dining experience, this place is not it — its an order at the counter, squat any table you can, get your own damn water and utensils, clean up after yourself, no frills kind of place — and that is fine by me!(Which is kind of remarkable to think that this place is a serious step up from the original Rod Dee) If I can get a great meal for under $ 15, be served in 5 mins, and the flavors are good, I’m there. — Scallion dumplings — Perfectly crisp(cuz its fried!), could be more chivey. Don’t use the dipping sauce, its weird as heck. — Seafood Pad See Ew — Yummy! Not greasy, generous w/the seafood — one of the best versions I’ve had. — Vegetarian Curry — Not too heavy, not too sweet, lots of veggies and tofu. Just right. If the parking weren’t a complete cluster around this place I’d be here all the time. But this is not going to stop me, I’ll walk next time, then I’ll have an excuse to eat more. ***UPDATE*** Takeout ready in under 15 mins. Their food was not as good packaged to take out as eaten in, but still tasty. The chicken was a bit dry compared to the pad w/seafood. The Green curry had a nice flavor, lots of veggies, could have put in more seafood though.

This place has the best Thai food in all of Boston. And you have to go to Rod Dee Thai because it is almost completely different from the New Rod Dee. My favorite is definitely the Beef Pad See You and the Crispy Chicken with anything! Can’t wait to stop by soon and satisfy my craving for thai food right now. Also it is pretty small in there so seating is limited.

The best foods are really the hole in the wall spots. Rod Dee Thai is a perfect example. I’m pretty sure I would loved this place more if I didn’t stuff my face hours before Rod Dee Thai, but I was only in Boston for a weekend so I had to get everything in. haha I know Pad Thai is not really authentic Thai food but you have to their HOUSESPECIALPADTHAI. It’s the craziest thing in the world. The CRISPYCHICKEN on it is amazinggg! I personally asked them to put a fried egg on it as if wasn’t heart attack enough. I think i would have died and gone to heaven if they made my egg over easy or sunny side like i hoped it would be but it was over medium well. Their REDCURRYCHICKEN was very good too.

Hands down, the best Thai cuisine I’ve had in Boston. It never disappoints. The pad thai is LEGIT, esp. the pad thai with crispy chicken… nomnomnom. The star noodle is also good, as well as the fried rice. However, my favorite is the Rad Nar with chicken, which is this pan fried wide rice noodle dish with veggies and cooked in this thick Thai gravy. SOOOOOOOO good. If there is a heaven I hope it tastes like this. I can’t even finish writing this review because talking about it makes me crave it so bad. Definitely recommended. It doesn’t hurt at all that each dish is $ 8-$ 9.

OK, you fat bastards. I’m gonna tell you the awesome secret dish to get here… crispy squid. It’s damn good. For the ten minutes I was eating the squid, I was one with the universe. I understood what it meant to eat delicious food. Don’t eat it with sriracha, soy sauce or anything else. The salt and pepper that it is cooked with is the perfect complement to the batter and the squid is cooked just perfectly. One more thing, if you go with a friend, you’ll probably family-style the dishes. Don’t do it with crispy squid. Eat your own crispy squid. Anyone who disagrees may PM me and I will send you spam and hate mail.

Since college, I’ve enjoyed coming to eat at this local business. However, this time around, I only found the soup and pad kee mao with duck to be «ok». It lacked the sizzling flavor. I wasn’t truly disappointed but I think I found another better thai place. Pad kee Mao dish with Duck — The duck lacked true roasted duck flavor. Tom Yum Soup — Good. The concept — you order food at the counter and pay first then sit down to eat. Beware of crowded days since there is only about 5 small tables. See my photos.

Everything about this place brings me to a happy foodie place. This is totally authentic Thai, home-style cooking. My Thai friends would pretty much order from here everyday. I would take the 4-hour bus ride back to Boston just to be able to eat at Rod Dee. Crispy fried chicken and omelette(plain, beaten egg that’s fried so that it’s crispy and salty) are some extras that you can request to top off any dish. Tom yum soup noodles, Indonesian fried rice, Thai-style sukiyaki, ba mee hae(thin, yellow noodles served dry with minced pork) are some of my all-time favorites here. Don’t miss out on the Thai iced tea and Thai iced coffee as well.
