I live in the hood and am lucky to have probably the best café/bakery in the all of Boston across the street. They have recently closed the doors to expand their space as they gobbled up the next door store. It’s sad they are closed… but I can’t wait to see the new and improved space as they were always over packed everyday so this expansion was sooooo needed. TRYTHECHEESECAKE! unreal, not heavy light as a cloud.

Closed for the next 8 weeks while they expand. They are taking over the storefront next door.

This is a very good bakery but I am a little disappointed with the one at Brookline. There is no room for table inside and they don’t serve some items on breakfast. I was looking for the porches egg with cheese and tomato but they don’t have this particular one. By the way still one of the best bakery of Boston!

A little expensive maybe but SOSO good. It can get a bit crazy on weekends, so go early. The coffee is delicious, the pastries are scrumptious(try the pistachio croissant), and the rest of the breakfast food is awesome too(I recall an egg sandwich with avocado and tomato, am salivating just thinking about it). If it’s nice weather, eat outside, either at the tables in front, or take a little walk to Longwood Mall nearby and picnic among the historic trees

Stopped in here this morning for breakfast around 11am. Very convenient location across from the St. Mary’s C line stop on Beacon. I have never been to the other Tatte locations but I was surprised at how compact the space was. Considering it was pretty busy it felt a little cramped. I did notice there is seating outside so in the warmer weather its probably not as bad because its more dispersed. The baked goods especially the croissants looked delicious but I opted for the breakfast sandwich and a 12oz mocha to go. I had a bit of sticker shock at the cost as it was roughly 15 bucks. I am not usually accustomed to a 9 dollar breakfast sandwich and was thought it was a bit pricey for what I was getting(just your basic bacon egg and cheese on sourdough). The sandwich itself was very good and the egg was the perfect amount of runny, the bread was just toasty enough to have a good crunch and they used a really nice sharp cheddar. My only gripe was the bacon wasn’t crispy and was very greasy and limp. Overall I would give Tatte another go and give one of the bakery or lunch menu items a shot instead which seemed more priced in line for the product, as good as the breakfast sandwich was I would have to pass in the future just because it is truly overpriced IMHO.

I was in the neighborhood(ran a race earlier at Fenway), and stopped by to pick up a treat for the lady. I called around and this place had high reviews, was within walking distance, and had cinnamon rolls(she really loves her cinnamon rolls). I rolled up in there around 3pm on a Saturday and the place was pretty packed(definitely a good sign). Everything looked pretty amazing from the lunch specials, assorted pastries, to the fresh loaves of bread. I opted for their version of a cinnamon roll(resembled a brioche with some glazing in its center). I also got an almond croissant, chocolate croissant, blueberry muffin, and latte. The best thing was the latte by far, while the pastries had good flavors they tasted a couple of days old which I find hard to believe given its location and all of the people I saw. I would think they make it fresh daily. If I was a local I would certainly give this place another shot but since I visit 3 – 4 times a year who knows when I’ll be back and why risk a repeat performance when there’s a whole city to explore.

This is the worst of the Tatte locations that I have visited. All 3 in Kendall Sq in Cambridge are superior. This one happens to be the smallest, so it gets overcrowded very quickly. The pastries also seemed to be a bit more limited as they never seem to have the amazing croissants I get from the other locations. The almond and pistachio ones are some of the best croissants in all of Boston. The staff here definitely seems overwhelmed. Took 20 min to make a sandwich. Ordered a meatball sub. They told me 15 min later that they ran out of baguettes. Check out the picture for the masterpiece I got.

Dear God I wish this place was bigger! It was an early Saturday morning and the line was already out the door. It’s a quaint little shop with just a few tables. Luckily, I snagged the first spot I saw way in the corner. With my big winter jacket, a huge tote bag, and a scarf wrapping half my head, I mosied on over to politely ask if anyone was sitting there. Score! I had a seat. now. to get back in line to order… hm this may be a challenge. With an array of different puff pastries and pies and flakey goodness beckoning me to eat them, how can I leave without picking up 10 different things?! Unfortunately, my belly is only so big and Boston has so much to offer. So, I opted for a simple latte with a ginormous butter croissant to start. I also ordered the avocado tartine, although a close second option would have been the pork belly sandwich. I love that they are vegetarian friendly! The tartine was just perfect. Being a California girl, I love avocados on everything — that’s not an understatement! It was light, filling, and it’s a healthy breakfast too! Definitely a win-win here. The latte was just perfect. The food was delicious. The service was a little spotty(hard to get good service when there’s so many people). No bathrooms. They take card. Nice location. Cute shop, but darn I wished it was a little bigger! Eh, I’d say I’m a fan!

For the of java* Tatte was one of the nicest Bakery & Café that I have ever been too. First of all the place seems like the inside of a hipster’s tumblr page, where all of the reblogs is furniture from Restoration Hardware. Does it live up to the hype and long lines? Yes it does. People begin to hawk for tables so try to get there early, they serve come heavenly coffee. Came with a group and tried chai latte, cappuccino, and just regular black coffee, all where on point. On a side note, their food is amazing. Had the warm duck confit salad and it was to die for. Too bad After I left I read that their nut boxes made it onto BuzzFeeds ‘bakeries to try, before you die’ list. So now I just have to go back… Recommend: Pistachio Croissant* has a pistachio filling lathered inside. Nothing compares. Coffee* because. Always. Freshly baked bread Instagram: @coffeebeantown

Recommended items: Pistachio Croissant, strawberry almond croissant, freshly squeezed orange juice, and most likely some other baked goods. Stay away from: Nothing. Try everything at least once. I went here for brunch with my gf on Columbus day and the lines was short and we got seats pretty easily… However, this is not normal. It didn’t take long for a huge line to form immediately after we ordered. The line is normally long and the food(if not one of the baked goods) tend to take a while so time yourself accordingly. We got the pistachio Croissant, strawberry almond croissant, shakshouka, croque madame, and freshly squeezed orange juice. The pistachio croissant and strawberry almond croissant were the stars on our table. They both taste so good… in ways words just cannot describe. The pistachio one was slightly sweet and savory. The pistachios provided a nice crunchy texture to the entire bread. It’s one of those baked goods you could eat infinite amounts of and never get tired of. The only thing I wish is that the spread was thicker on top as the top part of the croissant had too much bread and not enough spread. I guess you could bite down both top and bottom at the same time but these croissants are quite big! The strawberry almond croissant fruity and sweet, yet not too sweet. Definitely much of a dessert croissant and I can see someone getting tired of it if they eat too many, unlike the pistachio croissant. The shakshouka was pretty solid. It had a bit of a kick to it which I liked. I would definitely try if you enjoy tomato based dishes. Croque Madame was pretty good. The egg was cooked just right(over easy) but was just too small for the huge bread. It was just a pretty good breakfast sandwich. The oj though… My girlfriend doesn’t really like oj(more for me) but she loved it, as did I. Just the right about the sweetness, tartness, and pulp! If you come here, do yourself a favor and get the oj.

This is an expensive place and depending on what you order, it’s hit or miss. The good: Nice viennoiserie and decent sandwiches. Had the bacon-lettuce-avocado-tomato sandwich. The bread was really nice and there was a lot of bacon in the sandwich, but the sandwich maker was really heavy handed with the onions. I’ve also had several of their croissants, and they have all been good. The bad: I would not recommend the pear and almond tart. One small slice is a pricey $ 6. The crust tastes nice, but is dry. The poached pear is good, but it’s just sitting in the dry crust. The dry crust plus the sparse filling makes for an overall lackluster pastry. Plus the flavor of the almonds really doesn’t come through at all. The various«rose» pastries were all dry each time I’ve ordered them. Yuck. Avoid! Overall: Very small, but convenient location– right off the st. Mary’s stop on the green C line. Not much indoor seating, but some outdoor. Staff could be friendlier, but I didn’t come here to make friends. The pricey food is 50÷50− either it’s good or devastatingly dry and flavorless.

Love visiting Tatte when I’m in Boston! They have amazing breakfast sandwiches made to order and served on freshly baked bread. Their croissants are all delicious. I’ve sampled an array of them and they always hit the mark, consistently good across the board. They also serve great coffee. Place definitely gets crowded on weekends and seating is very limited.

What a nice coffee shop and bakery. Although a little bit pricy, the Lavazza based cappuccino was good and the pastry — nut boxes — are yummy. May be a tad too sweet, but then I never add sugar to my coffee drinks, which balances well. Note that some pastries go on sale in late afternoon, which makes this place a little more affordable for people on a budget. Amid the current summer weather, it is so nice sitting outside. Too few places around Boston offer this option.

This bakery was a suggestion by buzzfeed as one of the best 25 bakeries in the world. Obviously being in the area, I had to drop by and try out something. Thanks to the popular Unilocal suggestion, I tried the famous pistachio croissant and I was just amazed by it. It was so rich, fresh and delish*. Shakshuka was what I chose for brunch. I’m not a fan of heavy, greasy or decadent breakfast dishes but this was surprisingly so yummy and pleasant for my tummy: p Do try cheesecake with crumbs. It had the perfect amount of cheese making it neither too creamy nor heavy. You won’t feel disgusted and you could easily have multiple slices! Strawberry shortcake tarts were not only pretty to look at but tasted awesome too.

I’m going to go ahead and give Tatte 5 stars because I really think it does everything super well, and the whole place just seems very… deliberate, in the best way. The menu for lunch/brunch/meals is amazing — I want to eat every single item listed. The pastries are delicious. The nut boxes? Perfection. I basically need a bigger stomach so that I can actually eat everything I want when I come here. I’m moving to Kendall soon and can’t wait to try the one there too. Also, outdoor seating, which is always awesome.

The best damn breakfast sandwich i’ve ever had. Don’t even care if it’s $ 8.50, you get a ton of sandwich for that. Crispy sourdough, perfect bacon, awesome cheese, and gloriously runny egg. In the to-go box, the latter is both sandwich component and condiment. Waste none of it. It’s magnificent.

I’d been wanting to try Tatte for awhile, but never really wanted to make the trek all the way to Cambridge. After having lunch at Gyukaku, I noticed that Tatte was right across the street. The nut boxes were definitely first on my list. If I had been less full, I’d definitely have tried more. My friend and I split a pistachio nut box. We were given a fork and knife to eat it with, but honestly you can just pick it up using your hands and eat it. Is it overhyped? Maybe. Is it expensive? Definitely. Is it still good? Yes, definitely. The crust is buttery without being too rich, the nuts are caramelized but balance out the sweetness of the caramely binding. It’s simple, not to mention beautifully made. I’ll definitely be back to try the flourless Belgian chocolate brownie as well as their other sweets. I like that they have Stumptown coffee as well. It’d definitely be a great brunch place — their shashuka is also on my to-try list. With its cute and welcoming atmosphere and quality food, Tatte is definitely a must-try. Not to mention that its nut boxes made it onto Buzzfeed’s bakeries to try before you die list.

Such an amazing European bakery! The smell of fresh baked pastries permeates the small space the second you walk in. Had a delicious latte with almond milk, in fact it was so good that I have been craving it ever since! Did not eat here but both the pastries and lunch sandwiches looked amazing, so I will definitely be trying their food next time I am there! The space is very small and their are only a few tables inside the store, but they do have some outdoor seating. If you love fresh, delicious pastries accompanied with good coffee then this is the place for you!

This is definitely one of my favorite bakeries in Boston, above Flour. However, this location is literally the worst. You need to scrounge for seats like a seagull and be ready to attack the minute anyone gets up from their seat. If you are planning to come to the Brookline location, be prepared to either come with one other person, or take your items to-go. What you should get(for breakfast/brunch): * Any croissant. These croissants are the flakiest I’ve had in a while, and make a complete buttery flake mess. But it’s amazing. * Breakfast sandwich: the sourdough bread is HUGE. Honestly, I took a slice off because it was so much. But it’s good to know Tatte thinks I can eat that much. Once again, everything on the sandwich is very rich and full of flavor, with crunch from the bacon, and softness in the bread. * Any latte(I got an almond milk latte) in a «for-here» cup, because they put pretty designs with the milk. Obvi for the insta.
