Air Conditioner New York

I hired Air Conditioner New York in April, 2013 to install two window a/​c units in my Manhattan apartment. At first glance, immediately after the installation, they looked fine and they worked. Recently, after getting an extraordinary amount of rain, I noticed a leak of water around where the a/​c unit was installed. After closer inspection, I saw that the parts used to seal the sides between unit and window frame had been broken in installation and large holes exposed to the outside.
I emailed the co. three times and left a voice-​mail to ask for help with resolving this; no reply. Extremely unprofessional. Not a co. I’d ever consider using again. Additionally, when you dial them, you get a non-​professional sounding voice-​mail message that sounds like someone’s personal phone. Just shady…
I will hire a professional to fix the damage they’ve done.

I scheduled an 8am appointment. I got a text at 7:30am that day saying he was an hour behind, and would be there between 9−10am. It’s now 12pm and he is still not here. The dude dodges any phone calls, doesn’t reply to texts, no one picks up his «office line». He is obviously doding my phone calls. I absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND.

You’ve got to be kidding me! This company (aka guy with a cell phone) is a joke. I called them last week about having 2 units installed in my building which requires a company with a very high insurance policy. After a bit of an attitude I was told they met the requirements and they sent me a text to email them some information so they can submit their insurance info with the building. I did and never heard back so I called again 3 days later. This time the guy tells me they’re not going to run around calling the super and that the building is wasting their time. Then he HUNG UP ON ME!!! I am happy to give my business to someone else. Lose the attitude!
UPDATE– I called this afternoon hoping to reach someone other than the first guy I spoke with, but to no avail. Again he’s incredibly rude and tells me I was supposed to email them the management info not the super. I tried to explain that in my building the super handles it and I don’t understand why he’s being so rude and hanging up on me. He tells me they’re not interested in my business and to find someone else. I was so shocked by their customer service I texted him saying so and that I was submitting a complaint with the BBB. He responded «we are not registered with the BBB, go away, the BBB does not have any governance over us.» He then goes on to criticize me for sending them the supers info since they always send the information to the management company– who cares who you send it to and why does it bother you so much that this is the way my building handles it? He then proceeds to call me an idiot! Yes, he called me an idiot. I stopped responding to his texts but he kept sending harassing messages until I finally threatened to call the police.
Never in my life have I been so appalled by any business as much as I am this one. Please, do not give them your business!

Had a great experience with Air Conditioner New York. Called them late in the day, they made a quick appointment with me, showed up promptly as promised and did a totally professional installation. Thanks! My only critique would be I wish the cleanup afterwards would have been a bit more thorough, but I’m splitting hairs… I’m a fan of any NYC company that shows up on time and does what they promise to do. That’s harder to find these days!

I am truly disappointed with this company (one man show). I went according to these reviews and shame on me.
I called the number listed on the website (347 257 8709) and had no issue getting the guy to come and re-​instal my air conditioner. I had explained to him that the air conditioner had been installed incorrectly and was leaking water inside my apartment. The air conditioner had also been causing the window to rattle when running. The guy on the phone (He never gave me his name) assured me that he knew what the problem was and could fix it. I scheduled the appointment and he showed up.
20 minutes later (after he had reinstalled the AC and screwed 6 brackets into my window) he told me that the issue had been solved. I took his word and gave him the $ 100 that he has requested, in cash of course — mistake!
About 6 hours after he left the air conditioner began to leak into my apartment again and the rattling had also begun. I texted him at the number above. He reassured he would fix it the following day, since he was already out of the neighborhood. That was about 2 weeks ago, and he has yet to come back.
5 calls, 4 texts and thee «promises» to swing by during 1 — 3 p.m. and still nothing has been done. He has yet to come by or even apologize for missing the appointment (s). I have taken three separate afternoons off waiting for him to stop by. Each time, his promise of «i am on my way» has been broken. No apology, no response and $ 100 out the window.
He even has the audacity to keep the video he recorded up on his site. I have emailed him to take it down, and of course, no response.
DO NOT recommend or use this guy. If you are in the position where you ever may need him to come back and instal something correctly, it will never happen. Spend the money using a reputable company… not a one man show who obviously doesn’t take customer service seriously.

Got a window unit installed for $ 80; not bad. I was happily surprised that they were able to set up an appointment for about an hour after I called, though they showed up 30 minutes later than they said they would. The guy who installed it wasn’t super personable, but he was pretty fast and did good work.

If Clarke can get back to me with someone that can help me,… he will. I might just be one of those difficult customers. Clarke is very reasonable.
Update,… Clarke called me back to clarify that they are not in the legal business and that they just don’t top mount ac units. If you just want it in the bottom part of your window,… they do that. I’ll give them another star for a follow up call.
I just talked to a guy at this company (Stuart?) and he said it was «kinda» illegal to top mount air conditioners. This is news to me. I’m going to research it.

Had great service from these guys today. Clarke still answers the phone, but they now seem to use the name Air Conditioner New York, at

It’s going to be close to 100 degrees today and tomorrow, and I needed two 5,000btu units (with support brackets required by my landlord) in my new place. I thought I wouldn’t get anyone to call me back (Vlad didn’t), but Clarke set up a time at 9:30am for the same morning. I got a call when they were 15 minutes away. They were within an hour of the set time, which isn’t too bad. I was quoted $ 125 altogether for the two installs.
The service tech was the best, friendly and funny, and did a great quick job. (I’m mad I forgot to get his name.) I was using my computer, so he asked me to check out their site and see if I wanted to do a testimonial like the videos that they post. (I did one when he was done, just 20 – 30 seconds of conversation.) I had cash ready to pay, and he didn’t even count it.
Basically had no problems, and the service was so polite. All is well. If you have to pay someone to do this for you, they’re a good choice.

After being rejected by Vlad (he has 5 stars on Unilocal), I tried calling several places that would install window air conditioners in Brooklyn. This is the only place that actually picked up the phone. I called at 9AM, and the rep on the other end gave me an estimate of $ 100 for a Frigidaire 10,000BTU and a 2 hr time frame. Fast forward 4 hours later, the rep arrived. Although I was annoyed by their tardiness, they nevertheless installed the air conditioner within 20 minutes. The rep was friendly and didn’t mind that my cat was all over him. I am now $ 100 poorer but 100% cooler.
I would use their services again if in a bind.
