Albee Dental Care

Awful first visit. Driving around 20 minutes to find a parking space. Get there 15 minutes late and the Doctor left! Save yourself the headache of the parking and lack of patient services! Will not be back

I had a slightly chipped tooth that was driving me crazy. I didn’t want to go on vacation with it still bothering me and my regular dentist couldn’t see me for over a week, so I went to Albee as a walk-​in.
Professional staff. Packed but not unpleasant waiting room. They saw me in pretty short order. The dentist took a (no charge) X-​ray to make sure there wasn’t anything more serious going on. With that confirmed, he very cautiously smoothed out the chip and sent me on my way for less than half the cost of a six-​month cleaning and checkup at my regular Manhattan dentist.

I usually don’t post bad reviews but this time I’m really upset and i feel like i have to do it. Im not going to write a book here but just say that I’m very disappointed. Waisted lot’s of my precious time and money with them. Even the new dentist i use now confirmed that they did a «Sloppy» and «Unprofessional» job. I would never recommend them to anyone!

I had a great experience with doctor Kollaros. He was thorough and let me know what was going on. He made me feel more at ease rather than on edge. The xray tech was very sweet and quick. I was in and out of there within 30minutes (it was Black Friday though and there was hardly anyone there) I truly recommend this office and that doctor!

Let’s start from the beginning…
Initial Phone Call: Pleasant. Appt was able to be made quickly. I called on a Thursday and was set for Friday at 12 noon.
Arrival In Office: Usually there is no cell phone use in the lobby but this particular office doesn’t have that rule and/​or just doesn’t enforce it. Multiple cell phone conversations going on alongside the television. So it was a bit nosey.
X-​Rays: Walked past a dude sitting in a chair eating food. A woman sitting on the stairs in the stairwell telling him to wash his hands. Definitely made me hop he didn’t work there. The X-​ray tech seemed rushed and bored. The room doesn’t seem to have a door and the x-​ray tech had another patient stand by the door. I was definitely surprised and annoyed. Who wants a random stranger staring into their face (that’s exactly what the other client was doing!) and mouth as you have your mouth open for all to see. When I vocalized that I’d prefer not to have someone staring into my eyes while having my x-​rays done I was told «ain’t no one looking at you»… Ummm… STRIKE ONE!
Waiting for Dentist: 10 mins later and still waiting…
At the conclusion of visit 1 my impression was inconclusive. The staff isnt the best but the dentist seemed knowledgable. They seemed to understand my needs and explained my option. I went home believing they had submitted the findings to my insurance to approve the dental work. Boy was I wrong.
VISIT 2: I saw the periodontist ($ 50 copay which im still unsure about b/​c my coworkers with the same insurance all say theyve never paid a copay) and the dentist and they worked together to see what my next steps would be. Here is where the issue began. The dentist submitted the wrong work to be done from the FIRST VISIT and so I had to wait for them to resubmit my work to my insurance and wait for approval again after already waiting a few months… STRIKE TWO !!!
2 months later I received a call from SHALON (nasty attitude, aggravated toned, dismissive persona) the receptionist who informed me that I was approved for the SAME WORK that I had told them I did not want and didn’t agree to from the SECOND VISIT 2 months before! She became very nasty and was dismissive. She seemed confused and uninformed and when I asked to speak to the supervisor she said «there isn’t one, there’s just me. I handle all of this.”(WELP! If that’s who’s «handling» things I can tell that place is in worst shape than I now believe) she told me I could have another consult! FOR WHAT?! I already had not 1 not 2 but 3 in the past 6 – 8 months and NOTHING IS BEING DONE RIGHT! I’ve given then 3 chances to correct their mistake and they haven’t! All the while collecting copays and money from my insurance! UGH! THIS PLACE DIDN’T SERVE ME AS WELL AS THEY SHOULD’VE! They were completely negligent!!!
I WON’T BE RETURNING!!! If I could give «0» stars I would!!!

The woman who answered my phone at this office was a PILL. I needed an emergency filling, and for some reason she had trouble understanding this basic dental situation and was very unprofessionally irritated with me on the phone.
Then, I asked what her office would charge for this procedure. She said that she could not give me a quote over the phone, but that I would have to pay $ 75 and get a set of X-​rays (which I just had three weeks ago, but that didn’t matter) in order for the dentist to then quote me a fee. Many, many reputable dentists I have either visited or investigated lately have a published list of charges for the various procedures they perform (or at least a published range of fees).
For both these reasons, I sought emergency care elsewhere.
This strikes me as a strange policy for those who clearly wish to be found on google as an «emergency care dentist.»
The impatience, arrogance, and nastiness of the receptionist simply shouldn’t be tolerated, especially when there are so many people with basic social skills who need work.

I’ve been going here since they were in Albee Square Mall. Great staff, roomy and comfortable waitng area. They accommodate your every need. You know everyone hates going to the dentist, this is one dental office that you won’t feel that way about.

this place was not too great. i went for a first cleaning here and was called 30 minutes late for an x-​ray, then had to wait another 20 to be taken into the exam room, where i waited another 20 minutes for the doc to come in. the dentist cleaned my teeth and kept spraying me in the face with water from the pick. she didn’t even polish my teeth and was not gentle at all (I later found out that the hygienist is on maternity leave so the dentists are doing everything).
everyone here was very nice but the problem is they expanded far beyond their capacity to effectively manage. they have a ton of exam rooms and a staff that is clearly overwhelmed (especially if you go at the end of the day). they make a lot of mistakes with paperwork and even insisted on charging me a $ 50 deductible even though I knew I didn’t have one with my insurance.
this place has potential (clean office, modern equipment and friendly staff) but they probably need to double their staff in order to run it properly. i will not be going back.

Great people work here making it a pleasure to see the dentist. Doctors here don’t go cheap on the local anesthetic, and butter you up with just enough before you leave so you’re comfortable. Clean chairs, helpful staff, glad I found them!
