The Best Pernil in the whole entire world! I have never tasted it as good anywhere else. Not even in Puerto Rico … The BOMB

This is fantastic dominican food. You can tell it’s legit because no on inside speaks english. I got a rice bow plate with all different types of meat: chicken, lamb, pork etc and was very full afterwards all for the price of $ 10. The atmosphere is very friendly. It seemed like a family owned restaurant becuase all the employees were stiking conversations with their customers and it made me feel at home. 10⁄10 would recommend and come back.

You don’t know good spanish food until you’ve eaten here. I’m talking mami’s cooking, hole in the wall, authentic Dominican flavor. This place has no time for the fancy schmancy because they are spending their time and earnings on giving you the flavors you crave. If you want real home cooking this is the place for you. Get your order in early because a lot of the special good stuff goes fast like their dynamite pernil with the crunch cuerro(pork skin) Mmmmm mm YUMMY! Oh and they cater! So if you have a party or lunch gathering impress your guests and order from Alex luncheonette! The ONLY reason I give this 4 stars instead of 5 is because you can’t sit n eat AND they close early 7pm and they don’t open on Sunday’s. But I guess for food this good, rest is essential :)

Don’t get fool by the outdated looks of the place. They serve fresh homemade like Dominican food. Very affordable and one order can feed 2+ people. So far they. are not facing any serious competition by neighboring, better looking places.

Best Spanish Food!!! Hands Down! The soups, Rotisserie Chicken, Empanadas, beans, rice with beans, The oatmeal juice. There is not one thing in that place that is bad. Everything is great and full of flavor’s that burst in your mouth. I just love this place. There is definitely a reason why there’s always a line outside. The staff is also very sweet!

I hunted for a restaurant like this, and boy was it worth it! Don’t look for a menu on the wall, because they don’t have one, and I hope you speak Spanish, cause If not you better to learn to point at things you like! This place is so good, I loved it and so did my bestie. I will visit each and every time I’m in NYC. The food is fresh and specials are added daily to the hot steam table. Super authentic, good prices, great portions and selections! Note: long lines that move fast Not many seats to sit inside excellent, I mean excellent homemade Pineapple juice Fast, friendly service!

There are three other Spanish food spots within seconds of this spot and I come here every time. Top Pick: Chuletas con arroz blanco y habichuelas Second Pick: Pollo Guisado con arroz blanco y habichuelas Who am I kidding this is my order every time I go in there. Food is good. Place is tiny so always packed. It’s a neighborhood spot. Authentic Dominican food.

This is a great place to get delicious and affordable Dominican food like my momma used to make. They can make you your own individual plate or even party size dishes when you order ahead. I can’t lie, the food may be even a little bit better than my mom makes it lol. Only issue is that the restaurant is a small place and it gets really crowded very easily.

There’s a reason it’s almost always packed with customers! That’s because the food is among the tastiest you’ll find on this side of the elevated train tracks.(The other side has Roberta’s, though it’s a different scene altogether.) Most any decent Latin American restaurant can be judged by its beans and rice, and Alex Luncheonette falls squarely in this category. The perfectly seasoned black beans have a subtle depth and flavor that’s hard to replicate. I know; I’ve tried. The steamed rice, whether you get the white or yellow variety, is always delicious and ever-so-slightly fatty. Things really only get better from there. The rotisserie chicken holds the moisture that only a slow-cooked meat can, and the pork is luscious and juicy. It’s easy to get carried away if you don’t mind the cholesterol. The décor leaves a little to be desired, but with your face in the awesome food, you probably won’t even notice or remember what color the walls are, just how long after you finished eating you kept licking your fingers!

Definitely the food to get when you’re starving and want a hearty meal. Food taste is very good. But with the high volume of food incrementing throughout the years, I believe they have lost their homemade seasoning touch. :-)

Awesome taste of culture. I had the oxtail and rice and a fried cornmeal thing. It was sooo good. My boyfriend had the steak and veggies with yams. Both are the reasons when we are in the area we will go back! :)

have been coming here for years, Had my party catered from this weekend for my daughters sweet 16 and I have to say Alex was a great help. he guided me on how much food to order. Not only do they provide you with all the serving spoons and racks/sterno’s you need, they are free of charge. Most importantly the food was AMAZING… my guests were taking about the peril and pastelon all night long. Thank you Alex and Junior luncheonette crew for making sure my party guest left happy and full. not to mention the price was reasonable and well worth every penny.

You know this place is going to give you real authentic food since the cooks are dominicans from the neighborhood who bring the taste of home to you. This place is open only for lunch specfically so you will have to come early to pickup food if you want the dish as dinner. I love their rice and beans with maduros and oxtail, so much flavor and it will fill you up for the whole day. They also have really good sancocho(idk if i spelled it right) and other various soups. Their chicken is also very tasty since they dont give you the fatty parts. Just a warning this place does get crowded and there arent tables to sit you just gotta grab it and go !

I used to live across the street from this place as a teenager, so the last time I’ve eaten here was around 2004, but even back then the food was delicious. I always used to order the rotisserie chicken and yellow rice with olives and the chicken was always so juicy and well seasoned and the rice was tasty. I’ve been to a loooooot of spanish places around the city since then and they never compare to this place. Very cheap too, a small container of the chicken and rice was $ 3 and a large was $ 6; not sure what it is now. Luckily my girlfriend lives a few blocks from here so we’ll be ordering from here very soon. Edit: So we went there and the food was as amazing as I remember. Get the baked chicken if you are there, it’s seasoned so damn good. Unfortunately they didn’t have the yellow rice with olives that I used to get when I went there, but get that if you get the chance because it was slammin when I used to order it years ago. Just be prepared to have to point out what you want because a lot of the staff speaks almost no to broken English with a few who speak perfect English, but they are super nice about you not being able to say exactly what you want and having to gesture your order. But this food is as good as it gets for spanish food as far as I’m concerned and I’ve been to tons of spanish places. I was worried nostalgia was clouding my judgement of this place, but after returning it is definitely that good.

The food is good but the service is horrible… i never encounter such disrespect when ordering food. They don’t grant their customers the slightest courtesy. I would never order food from there again and I advise you to do the same… try Chiquita’s on Myrtle Avenue by the chase bank the food is just as good and the service is great. i wish i could give them zero stars

Yes! Their food is DELICIOUS! EVERYTHING! If you’re around the area, stop by and you wont be disappointed. But just make sure you go early because if you go late(4−5pm) there wont be any food left.

You want good food? Let me clear my throat… do you want great food? Then let me tell you about Juniors. I was in a taxi when, just when I’m about to be dropped off, the cab driver mentions that he was going to Juniors to pickup some dinner. I quickly asked, «Is it good». He gave me a wide smile as his eyes slowly closed and wandered… then he answered, «La comida es rica»…The food is delicious he said in spanish. Soon after, I went to juniors and ordered some food(its not a place to sit down and eat… to small. When i got home and tasted the food I was like, «OMG, this is amazing». I think everyone in the block heard me… please know i am a lady but have wild outbursts sometimes. LOL! i even had them cater my son’s birthday. For $ 175.00 there was enough food to feed about 30 maybe more. There picknic-pork shoulder(pernil)…kickass! Their spagetti with chicken, perfection. Give it a try, you’ll love it!
