Listen up boys!!! There are three types of dinner-date women TYPE #1: The Gormadizing Eater. She saves money by only eating when she’s on a date. Generally she’ll accept a dinner invitation from anyone. From Gavin Newsom to Flavor Flav, as long as you’re paying she’s there. It doesn’t matter where you go or what’s being served— with this chick, quantity is key. TYPE #2: The Date Nibbler. She’s timid or even apathetic in the ordering process and often orders a salad, which the baby-voiced chick probably won’t even finish. TYPE #3: The Normal Woman: Although rare, these unicorns do exist. She is excited by choices and flavor. She has the grace not to pig out(well, in front of date). She is much more interested in quality than quantity. Type #3 would really enjoy Apropos Café. It’s charming and romantic. The menu standouts are the salads and bruschetta offerings, oh and the desserts. The wine list is decent also.

Very nice atmosphere in a very small space. It works best as a wine bar– I tried to make a meal of one of their delicious pizzas but was still hungry afterwards. I’m going to try to go back soon since they have bottles by the half price tuesday. They seem really knowledgeable about wine, and the space allows you to enjoy it a quiet way– perfect for a relaxing evening.

We used to spend our Sunday afternoons camped out with the paper at Colson on 9th St. but as it has been getting more and more crowded we have recently been going to Apropos instead. It’s a tiny little space, but nicely decorated and cozy. The bruschetta($ 3 each) are delicious, particularly the white bean purée. The paninis are also good – actually, probably the best I’ve ever had – and come with their signature«cole slaw» which has cabbage and raddichio, sunflower seeds, and is perfectly seasoned(mmmm, I want some right now just thinking about it.) The coffee is good and they also have a pretty extensive wine list. It’s a good place to spend an afternoon – and I imagine a nice place at night wine and a bite of food. I can’t wait to cozy up there this winter.
