I’m not even sure where to start with this place. The food was actually pretty tasty, but the service was horrible(not just wait staff, managers too). When we came in, the manager almost seemed surprised that we wanted to eat there. Upon sitting down, the waiter came up within 30 seconds and asked us if we were ready to order. I ordered a sandwich and a side of guacamole. The sandwiches were all quite good. The guacamole… was just guacamole. No chips to eat it with. That’s weird. I ask if there are chips on the way and am told by our terse waiter that it doesn’t come with chips, and that«he can bring me some potato chips, but(he’ll) have to charge extra since that’s not what I ordered.» Who serves guacamole with no chips? Anyway, our sandwiches were good, however we were never once offered a water refill. Upon bringing out our check, we see that every single item on there is listed as $ 1 higher than what it is listed on the menu. We point this out to the waiter, who then says«Oh yeah, we’re getting new menus printed, there was something wrong with these.» We point out that he should’ve mentioned this, or they should write over the prices on the menus. He literally responds with this«Yeah, you guys are right, but I can’t do anything you know, I’m just a waiter.» Wrong answer. You go get a manager and have him sort it out and honor the prices on the menu we ordered off of. He did apparently have the authority to add a 20% gratuity to our bill, which seemed generous considering he never once came by to refill waters. Upon leaving, the manager overheard us talking about our experience on the sidewalk. We explained our frustration with the prices, and we were told the same«Not our fault» story. A quick peek at other Unilocal reviews show this same complaint back in November, nearly 3 months ago! Tell me again how long it takes to get menus printed? At this point, I can only assume this is a flat out LIE they tell just to overcharge customers. Anyway, we said they should have told us at the very least, and he said«Well, your waiter should have said something, but he was probably in a hurry since we try to close by 10:00.» I look at my watch and it’s 9:57 and we’re standing on the sidewalk. From the moment we walked in, they seemed in a hurry to get us out. However, there are NO hours listed on the door, and there was ZERO sign that they were getting ready to close. It’s New York City, if you say you serve dinner, I’m expecting you to be open until at least 10:00. If you’re getting ready to close, DON’T SEATUS! Or tell us the kitchen will be closing in 10 minutes. There was ZERO indication that they were preparing to close. I work around the corner and will not be returning. Deceptive pricing, rude service, and odd menu(seriously, you ever try eating guac with no chips? It’s like eating baby food).

Wandering in off the old cobblestone streets of DUMBO you have an eclectic and refined medium sized café that serves some elegant, appropriately sized treats. The vibe is just the smallest bit upscale without taking itself too seriously.

Like all places in DUMBO, Archway is overpriced for what you get. The food is passable, though if there were more lunch options in the neighborhood, I would never go here. The portions are small, the food is expensive, and the service isn’t great either.

At first I was shocked to see a 2 ½ star rating but now I get it… Ordered an overprice half soup, half salad. The chef double/triple wrapped the soup container in plastic wrap to make sure it didn’t spill. Great but then it look me almost 5 minutes to unwrap the soup without making a mess. Even being careful the soup slipped u from my hands and spilled all over my phone and work desk! I called Archway explaining what happened hoping there would be some compassion to get a new soup(since I just left that place). I got such a rude response about how they’re not going to pay for a soup I spilled. Ugh EFFTHAT!!! There are so many places around DUMBO to get better tasting and better priced soups! I only came here because I like to be loyal to my neighborhood restaurants and cafes! NEVERCOMINGGBACKAGAINANDNEITHERAREMYCOWORKERS.

I have never felt so insulted at a restaurant. Stay away from here at all costs! I’ll be completely honest — the food was actually pretty good. The pulled pork, veggies, and wild rice were very well cooked. However, what really ticked me off was the service, dishonesty, and the rude and unprofessional person handling the bar. When we got the check, we realized that we were charged $ 1 more than what the menu stated. By that point, our card had already been charged so I asked the guy at the bar who was handling our bill how come we were charged more, and he stated nonchalantly that all the prices were increased by $ 1 and that they needed to update the menu but that it was on the wall menu board. I was a bit shell shocked and just let it go. However, after thinking about it, if they had changed the prices, at least they could 1) have the waiter tell us the menu prices weren’t correct, 2) have a little sticky note on the menu saying the menu was being updated, or 3) just get new menus! I asked for my $ 3 back for our 3 entrees, but the service the guy at the bar gave back was cold and nonchalant. He basically shrugged and acted like he was doing me a huge favor by refunding me $ 3 with no apology for the hiccup. I was like«That’s it? Are you guys not going to do anything about it?» to which he responded«You got your money back didn’t you?» and then proceeded to walk out on me and ignore me without any sense of sympathy for the mistake. It’s sad because this restaurant is actually pretty cozy and feels homey, but the attitude and inhospitality totally ruined the experience. I could care less about the $ 3 at the end of the day, and to be honest the food was actually really good, but rest assured you will never have my business, and I will make sure to do my best to spread the word on how bad this restaurant is.

Ordered two of the daily specials with a friend, pastrami sandwich. Nice ciabatta bread, good seasoning on meat that had fat running through it so tough it had to be ligaments. Dirty tables with drinking glasses upside down. I’ve never seen this done without a clean napkin placed under neath, highly unsanitary. Too many good places to eat in Brooklyn to return to this Dumbo dump. Giving it an extra star for its price.

The Bad: This is in the up and coming Dumbo Neighborhood of Brooklyn. This is a place for true New York City residents only. I don’t think this restaurant is meant for tourists. If you don’t live here, it’s going to turn you off. The Good: This is an excellent place to get food right before work or during a lunch break. For dinner it’s a relaxed occasion. It’s casual dining, so if you want to get a bite with your co-workers it’s perfect. It’s French cuisine, and the restaurant has a cosmopolitan, worldly feel to it. I’ve seen a restaurant in Washington, DC called DGS which did similar overtures accommodating customers, and the proof is the consistent quality.

I love this place on the facts that — I really really really really really like their jam and brie sandwich. I like the rolls they use, and I’ve introduced myself to one of the servers-managers named Brandon. He seems to really care about what he’s doing. I’ve been here at all hours of the day, but really the Archway is in my rotation for picking up a nice chicken salad(with the greens — not chicken salad as in chicken and mayonnaise) for lunch. I hate this place because because because — These guys don’t have alcohol. So, one could stay anonymous I guess. Not so hot for desserts.

First of all, I always get take-out from here so this review has nothing to do with dine-in experience. They got a relatively wide collection of sandwiches, and I think they are decent in quality and portion size — not saying they are overwhelmingly big, but they are about the right portion for a quick lunch. Staff at the take-out counter is usually very friendly and helpful. And I almost forgot to mention, their smoothies are the best!

If you want to stay and eat, don’t order at the counter. Better yet. If you want to eat here, consider literally anywhere else. The service is slow and the staff is disorganized. The sandwiches were okay, but the experience was terrible. I’ll never return.

After coming here for a month I really enjoyed this place. I’ve dined in and enjoyed their breakfast but their iced café au lait is my favorite. So if I need coffee I come here. It’s just under $ 5 which is more expensive than what I normally get at any other spot but it’s amazing. So just yesterday I went in and found out they implemented a $ 5 minimum. Umm okay. Today I went in and ordered my usual iced café au lait and a Nutella banana croissant when I saw that they had my favorite blood orange San Pellegrino I decided to get that instead of a croissant. Well the chick with the accent decided to tell me to make up my mind. Not charging $ 7 for a croissant with a smear of Nutella and a $.50 banana you won’t speak to me like that. I didn’t pay for my order yet and no one made the croissant. I’m able to change my mind if I so please. She made it seem like I come in here everyday confused on life. I usually have my shit together. Speak to the customers like they pay your bills. I have no need to continue to spend my money here. I have a Starbucks a block away from me and many other establishments near my place of employment.

One star is for coffee they are serving, which is pretty good. I used to order often from this place and food was decent. Then it just started going downhill. I promised myself that I am done with this place. Did not go there for about 2 months and then decided to give it another shot. I ordered vegetable platter(hummus with vegetables) and threw it out because it tastes like soap. Never again!

This place was a nightmare. The waiter practically cost us a trip to the hospital! The only reason this place gets a second star was because what I ate was decent — not the best i’ve ever had but it was pretty good. The main reason I will not return to this place is because similarly to many of the other comments, the servers were beyond RUDE. If you have any type of food allergy, I do not recommend coming here. My friend is deathly allergic to cashew nuts. She ordered a mozzarella salad. When the dish arrived, there was pesto all over the salad. She had a bad experience with pesto before, because a lot of pesto sauces have cashew nuts in them. The minute she saw pesto, she asked the waiter if there was any nuts in the pesto, and said no and acted like he didn’t want to be bothered. She took one bite of that pesto and right away her throat started closing up. We called back the waiter and asked again, and he had an extreme attitude like he did not want to be bothered. He came back informing us there were nuts in the pesto sauce after his original mistake. We then asked what type of nuts, and with an attitude he said«I don’t know. I have to ask again the same thing I just asked.» and rudely walked off. When he came back, he told us they were cashew nuts. My friend ran into the bathroom and began vomiting, and having a bad allergic reaction. We had to leave and the waiter was like«You should warn people before you have a food allergy you know.» And we asked originally the other waiter how she is allergic! The other worst part was when we were leaving they still charged her for the salad! She took only one bite and began vomiting, and they still charged her. Both of our bearded waiters were extremely rude, and that was the last straw. We called over a different waiter named Jose and he was extremely helpful. He wasn’t the one who messed up the order — but as we were leaving he came to our table to make sure my friend was okay and apologized to us — when neither of the other dumbo waiters even said one word! Jose was extremely kind while the other two should be fired. When we left my friend continued vomiting in the street thanks to these guys and we got her the appropriate medical help. So overall, this place gets 2 stars for decent food and Jose. Other than that, this place was a waste of time and money and served someone food they are allergic to. DON’T COMEHEREIFYOUHAVEFOODALLERGIES!

UPDATE! I decided to give them another shot after the manager called me to apologize for my bad experience. Bad move on my part. AGAIN there was food missing from the order when it was picked up. Luckily we realized before we left. Today, A co worker ordered from there again(after I had STRONGLY advised against it) and after placing a rather large order, had 15 items missing come pick up time. When he went back to pick up the missing items, they tried to make him pay for them TWICE claiming the items were in the bag, not missing. These people do not respect their customers, and they will ruin your lunch hour if you let them.

I highly recommend the bbq pulled heritage pork entrée. It’s a good-sized dish with bbq sauce, wild rice, veggies and pork. If you prefer salad, one of my friends ordered the portobello salad and she insists it was delicious. Top it off with tiramisu and you’re all set. The service was fine. This space looks more like a bar from outside, but you’ll find ample table seating inside. I thought it cool to have the seating area up on the mezzanine level, giving you a bird’s eye view of the action. My experience there was fine and I can’t write this review without pondering the bad reviews, though. I’m kinda looking forward to meeting the owner.

My office is just a block away from Archway and I eat there several times a month. I always get the Turkey BLT or the rotisserie chicken entrée. The people that work behind the counter up front are always really, really nice. I’ve never had a problem here ever. I can’t comment on the sit down service as I always take my food to go. My only feedback is that I wish they had the larger 21oz bottles of San Pellegrino sparkling water.

My friends and I ordered, paid and then wanted to sit down in their dinning area. We were told no. So our order wasn’t good enough? Yet they had plenty of tables. Guy managing was rude. The food was good. Better selection than all the food trucks. Service poor. Not friendly.

In the heart of Dumbo lies a sweet little café with quaint little menus and local art decorating the walls. This café is called Archway, and they serve excellent fresh food and yummy coffee. Been here more times than I can count – their vegetarian friendly menu is great for breakfast or lunch. It’s Dumbo prices, so be prepared to shell out at least $ 10 for a breakfast sandwich, but it is super healthy and well worth it in taste.
