unsanitary conditions met with sub par falafel? Improperly fried, mishandled, and the sit down experience made it that much more awkward. No thank you.

I just picked up lentil soup, falafel, hummus and baba ganoush, Everything was outrageously delicious and fresh tasting. The baba gaboush in parrticular was perfection, the best I have ever tasted with just the right smokiness, The restaurant is a little hole in the wall near Century 21, they have a few tables and a street window for warmer weather. I am definitely coming back for more and to try other dishes.

first of all, the owner deserves mentioning– such a hospitable & generous man, he is just super lovely overall. Nothing fancy here, just solid eats: — Fried Kibbeh better than my own mom’s… hand made by his brother daily & seriously 5 star worthy! — Excellent falafel served fresh w/tahini. I skip the sandwich and just order a plate of falafel. Only downside? — No toum/garlic sauce You will be staring enviously at Karam across the street wishing for that dollop of garlic to accompany your food.

I’ve eaten at every schwarma spot in 11209 and let me be totally clear: Bab Alhara’s lamb schwarma is the best in Bay Ridge. Also, try their rice pudding its awesome. I eat here at least once a week. And the folks who own it are SUPER nice.

You get what you pay for. The falafel sandwich is crazy cheap and while the falafel themselves are fine the sandwich was completely tasteless. Bland hot sauce and tahini, scarey looking lettuce.

It’s too bad this place is so close to the legendary Karam because Bab Alhara is pretty good, and I think it gets overshadowed by the aforementioned restaurant. The $ 3.00 falafel sandwich has to be one the best deals in Bay Ridge. The falafel is made fresh when you order it, and the sandwich is pretty big. Perhaps not big enough for a meal, but it does make a good snack. Everything else I’ve had here has also been solid. My only complaint is that I wish they had Turkish bread. If they have it, it never seems like they have it when I’m there.

This little hole-in-the-wall restaurant is pretty cool. It has nice décor, good food, and a friendly guy at the counter. It’s kind of one step up from the Halal food carts in the neighborhood. The food seems to be a combination of Greek and Middle Eastern. The sandwiches are called«gyro shawarma» and are served with white sauce(not the more sharma-y garlic sauce). The service can be pretty slow, but only because they cook the food to order. So, if you’re in a hurry, call ahead.
