Oasis … truly lived up to its name. After a few hours of biking around the Belt Pkway we ended up in Bay Ridge hungry and tired, we came to this great place for a falafel and hummus plate. The host set us up in the backyard and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. The food was terrific, abundant. Next time I’m in the area I’ll be sure to stop by again.

We’ve lived in the neighborhood about a year and when ever I would be looking to order food I took note of first oasis because of all the great reviews. Well yesterday I finally found myself needing to grab a bite and in the area so we gave it a try. The place was empty inside which should of clued me in to stay away from anything brave. Unfortunately the positive reviews led me to try something I would normally stay away from and I ordered the lamb kufta. Although it did not taste bad I can’t say that I left very satisfied. In a few hours I found myself feeling terrible and as I write this I am still feeling the effects of food poisoning. Yesterday was a terrible experience. I recommend you stay away unless it’s busy or you want vegetarian. Myself I have a good mind to call a health inspector after the miserable night of chills and throwing up. On a brighter note my girlfriend enjoyed her lentil soup and is grateful it had not been poisoned.

One of the first Middle Eastern/Mediterranean places I’ve ever been to. It got me to appreciate and enjoy Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food. The few times I came here, it is quiet with few customers but don’t be fooled, the food here is great. I recommend the magic combo. It is delicious and there’s a lot of food. Not a huge fan of the stuffed grape leaves but that’s just personal preference. Delicious falafel and yummy yogurt sauce. I highly recommend trying this place if you haven’t already yet.

One of the best for Middle Eastern cuisine. Best babaganoush on the planet. Very accurate spicing on most dishes. I was raised on fine Lebanese home cooking and although this restaurant is not Lebanese, the cooking is surely home style Middle Eastern. The owner/chef and head waiter are very friendly and welcoming. Dine in or take out. Portions are very generous. Eating in service can be slow, but that is what you would expect of fresh made to order food, so sit back, have a drink and relax because your treat is being prepared. Anyway, I prefer a slow casual dinner after a hectic day.

I had the 3 piece falafel for the appetizer and the chicken kebab for the entrée. I must say, the quantity is amazing. The falafel was crispy from the outside, just as one would prefer. Salad was the perfect balance needed. The chicken kebab was nice and juicy served with great fluffy rice. Amazing meal overall.

Been here a few times, each time had an amazing meal. Service is great and nice atmosphere. Always got the platter for 2 and received a assortment of plates, humus and kebabs, for a very good price. If you are hungry and want a full good quality meal for a great price come here. Will return again !!

Want to know what it feels like to have 5 star service? Does anyone even remember what it feels like? Today, the kind of service provided by the owners son was that if the White House. I felt as if it’s taboo to be treated in such a way. Great job.

Honestly, cannot give this place enough stars. Both times Rami(manager?) was more than a pleasure to speak with, the order was ready fairly fast, and the food was DELICIOUS. My wife and I ended up getting the vegetarian combination supreme(yes, it’s as much food as it sounds like). Could not suggest this delicious dish enough. The Humus and Babaganouj are great, the Grape Leaves are great, the Tabbouleh is great, the Fava Beans — FANTASTIC, the Mussaka — PHENOMENAL. And, lastly, the bread is just perfection. Please, just eat here, you won’t be disappointed.

My boyfriend and I were walking around the Bay Ridge area to look for a spot to eat. Decided to try this place out and I’m glad we did. I ordered the special of the day which was the roasted lamb shank for $ 17.99. Delicious! The lamb was roasted three times and it was so tender that the meat fell off the bone. It also came with steamed veggies, salad, potato and rice. My boyfriend got the shawarma supreme($ 25) and he loved it as well. The seasoning for each meat was well done. The portions of the dishes are pretty big that we both needed doggy bags to go. We also shared an appetizer of falafel. Would definitely recommend this place!

WOW! The best, authentic middle eastern food I ever had. I’ve been eating Mediterranean food on a regular basis for many decades. In addition to the beautiful ambiance, reasonable prices and amazing customer service, my mind keeps going back to the food. Going backwards, their homemade baklava is like nothing I’ve had before. Is not your standard gooey filo dough and nuts dessert. This is how it’s supposed to be. I just realized that if I review all the amazing things I enjoyed today, this review will go on forever. The same can be said for all their homemade food. So tasty, presented well, better than anywhere in America. I’ve never had falafel that could compare. If you want greasy food, go elsewhere. If you want a new, regular, favorite, make this place your home. They’re in Bay Ridge, 4th Avenue, directly across from Harbor Fitness. Also ask for Rami. He offers great suggestions and gives the kind of hospitality you’d expect as a guest in his private home. I’ll be back there weekly for the rest of my life!

The owner’s son is a very outgoing and upbeat young man. He saw my friend and I out front considering the menu, so he stepped outside and sold us on trying the place. He takes great pride in his dad Sayeed’s expertise as a chef and in their family recipes. He explained that a lot of their vegetarian dishes can easily be made vegan without cheese or butter because it’s all freshly made-to-order anyway. He told me about their long history as restaurant owners, and how they had a place for 30 years called Magic Carpet in the Village. The waiter is a very sweet and attentive gentleman who’s been with them since those days. In the past few weeks I’ve eaten there several times, and brought my family. The food is extremely fresh and unique-tasting. Being distinctive is hard among all the Middle Eastern restaurants around Brooklyn, but somehow First Oasis does it. One in my family always orders the burger, and he says even that is especially good. Because it’s all made fresh, the wait for food can be longer than expected, but I’m okay with that. I always get delicious lentil soup with a lemon wedge, and hot mint-cardamom house blend tea. I love the Vegetarian Combination: hummus, babaghanuj, falafel, stuffed grape leaves, and salad. I like the salad fine but I love the tabouli better so I get it substituted. It comes with tahini-yogurt sauce(I skip that), pickled turnips and black olives. Sayeed’s falafel has a distinctive donut shape that ensures a fully-cooked and moist interior and a crispy and not overdone exterior. So flavorful! It’s seriously the absolute best falafel I’ve ever had anywhere. I also love the Vegetable Ouzi: a wonderfully seasoned stuffing of chopped carrots, peas, celery, rice, chickpeas, raisins and nuts baked in puffy flaky phyllo, made vegan by using olive oil instead of butter. It comes with cucumber yogurt salad but I get house salad instead. This dish is generous and filling, so I share it or plan to take half home. Leftovers from First Oasis are ALWAYS eaten. Miscellany: The TV plays soccer, college football, or lovely Arab music videos. There’s outdoor seating in the back but I haven’t eaten out there. The restrooms are always pristine and well-stocked. A discount on parking is available at the underground lot across the street next to Harbor Fitness.

Super excellent food. Bursting with flavor, each dish was beautifully presented. My husband commented that even the salad which came on the side with the falafel platter was delicious. Usually you just get some shredded lettuce, but not here. We came in late(9:30) & the place was empty, so you KNOW everything had to be made FRESH. simply OUTSTANDING. HIGHLYRECOMMENDED

Consistently well prepared food in large portions. I ordered the half chicken and falafel for dinner and ended up eating it for lunch the next day. The chicken was juicy, sweet, and tender. It had a kind of barbeque sauce flavor but with a middle eastern twist. I’ve also had the chicken sharawma DELISH. Falafel was crispy and came with a bed of salad. I really love First Oasis’ food! Everything tastes fresh, home cooked and delicious!

Wow Oasis! This spot was empty last night when I walked in with my BF for dinner– and an empty restaurant is usually a red flag for me. The reviews seemed to give this place a lot of praise so we went for it. This spot is a gem. The chicken kebabs were out of this world, perfectly spiced and cooked– and that goes for all the meat on the Mixed Grill. We got the plate for 2 and it was plenty of food. The falafel was fresh and made to order. If you can believe it, the steamed veggies had flavor and still a little crunch. The hummus could’ve had more garlic, but that’s my personal preference. Check this place out, it’s worth it 100%. Great prices, service, and delicious eats
