It’s weird how polarizing this place is on Unilocal — its current 3-star rating is overwhelmingly composed of 1– and 5-star reviews. The 1-star reviews are confounding, I must say. The service can be a bit slow, sure, and it doesn’t help that they often blast scene-y hardcore and pop-punk. But the bagels are fresh, chewy, and well-proportioned in terms of flavor — good enough to earn the place at least 3 stars(and likely, as you can tell by my rating, even more). The everything bagel in particular shines because of its subtle mix of seeds, spices, and salt. Its relative mild-ness allows for a clean symbiosis with plain cream cheese or simple sandwiches(turkey, roast beef, et. al. — often stacked high), whereas so many everything bagels overpower their contents. Perhaps Baker’s Dozen polarizes precisely because it takes a stand. What appears, at the door, to be a run-of-the-mill bagel place reveals itself to have a bit of an edge — in its service, its soundtrack, its bagel-making — which can please or upset: 1 or 5 stars, as it were. Me, I suppose I’m firmly on the«pleased» side of the spectrum; of course, there are still better bagels out there, hence the slightly marked-down 4-star review.

Really awesome bagels and a great neighborhood store(and half the price you pay at stupid hipster joints). Other breakfast items, meh.

The bagels and cream cheese were really good. Their lox on their bagels is really fresh. The guys working there are awesome. The soup is good too. I haven’t had much luck with the breakfast wraps, but everything else is tasty.

Messed up my delivery order twice in an hour! Unbelievable! How hard is it not to put cheese on a wrap! I guess you need an IQ of less than 2 to qualify for working at this establishment.

I hate giving bad reviews but I’m just fed up with this place and I need to vent. I’m passionate about bagels and this place continues to utterly and completely let me down. As there are very limited options for bagels in greenpoint, I’ve given them many chances with no avail. I honestly wish I could give them zero stars especially because it appears they are paying Unilocal Elite accounts to give them good ratings.(highly doubt those are legit) PLEASESOMEOPEN A GOODNYBAGELPLACEINGREENPOINT! ITWOULDMAKE A KILLING! I’ve been here at least 10 times(as I said before, very limited options until Bread brother’s opened) and they have yet to get my order correct. You HAVE to toast bagels twice, if not three times, because the bagels are usually under cooked and doughy. BUT they unfortunately never seem to actually toast the bagel twice, even after reiterating the order three times(happened today). I literally could not pull the two halves of the bagel apart today because it was so doughy and then the whole thing fell apart. Pro-tip: They always use too much cream cheese. So annoying. They have forget something on my order 100% of the time, even though I always order the same thing and it feels like a pretty standard to me: tomatoes, onion, light low fat scallion, and lox, toasted twice. The worse part is I usually forget to check if they got it right, before leaving the restaurant, and then not until I’m home, on the couch, ready to hit play on the season finally of Fargo, do I discover a missing variable in my perfect equation of delishisness. What a buzzkill. The one time I actually called them to complain about mess ups or that my bagel had not been toasted even once, they did send me a new one, which had WAY to much cream cheese again, and no onions. So I will give them credit for at least willing to make things right… It really just comes down to the fact that I don’t think any of the workers in there actually even like bagels or knows what a good bagel sandwich looks like. They just throw them together with out thinking of the best end result. It’s not rocket science but you have to start with at least a good point of reference to strive too. Sorry for the rant. God Speed Baker’s dozen. We are officially breaking up, forever.

It is just: Not good — I had better Wrap or sandwiches in any Deli Very slow to prepare 20 minutes for 3 sandwiches and a wrap Small: Again, for the price they could do something bigger and with sauce, no sauce at all in my wrap or in any sandwiches that my friends had/ Expensive: 8,25 dollars for a small wrap with no sauce, do not hesitate go to any Deli around. USA Deli, one block away, cheaper and better. Bad experience

The best bagel in Greenpoint. I always get the freshest batch, so that the butter melts without it being toasted. Good reliable crew, I can always depend on this place.

This is a seamless review. Ordered a bacon egg and cheese on a sesame bagel, a bagel with sun dried tomato cream cheese, half gallon milk and half gallon of orange juice. I ordered at 10am. Received a notification that the order was out for delivery at 1040am. I waited for two hours before I called the restaurant and they didn’t answer. I called seamless and they kindly cancelled my order. The funny thing is, is that the order was delivered 4 hours later at 2pm. Its easy to call/notify your customer that you cant complete an order in time.

NEVER order from here. Not only did they make me waiting for almost 2 hours, but they messed up my order. Instead of a nova special on a toasted bagel, I got a moldy cold bagel with cream cheese and cucumber. Making matters worse, they were completely unapologetic. Someone must have rigged these ratings because the disgusting stuff they sent was uneatable! Go anywhere else!

Gonna change to three stars from five as I can’t in good faith say I don’t say it isn’t overpriced. It’s for that reason alone I actively avoid going and instead check out other places in the neighborhood.

Would have loved to try this place, but they decided to close over 20 minutes early(5:34). The employee exited to see me and another customer about to enter, and just said ‘no’ and locked the door.

Huge assortments of Bagels, cream cheese and sandwiches. The bagels are freshly made as well as the cream cheese, the prices are responsibly priced. My got to place on Sunday when my boyfriend and I aren’t doing brunch and just wanting to stay lazy.

Baker’s Dozen is a great bagel shop. We frequent this place often and have our usual spreads and sandwiches that we order that are delicious: scallion cream chs, sun dried tomato cream chs, chicken salad with bacon and red onion on a toasted everything bagel, bacon egg and chs sandwiches, and tuna salad on a toasted bagel. The white fish salad is OK(i love white fish salad usually), but at times it can get on the overly fishy and oily side. The prices are normal for bagels and such, and they also offer some staple menu items and baked goods. It’s a bonus that they offer some flavored ice coffees, and it’s also a bonus getting our usual table to sit at. There are about 5 – 6 tables in a small seating area in front. We always have a great experience eating in here, and we always enjoy our meals when taking them to go too.

Looong wait for food on a saturday morning and when it finally came they got both our orders wrong. My friend was happy to eat hers but they had put lettuce on my breakfast wrap instead of tomato, clearly unaware that lettuce is the natural enemy of breakfast wraps, and breakfasts in general. i couldn’t eat it and it took so long to make the first time i didn’t bother asking them to make it again. they seem very friendly, if completely inept. You might have a better experience than me but when they get wrong 100% of your orders you don’t go back. peace out baker’s dozen.

Great bagels and friendly staff. Unilocal and the sign on the door says it closes at 6pm, but they close at 5:30. Annoying when trekking all the way there to find the door locked at 5:35. Change the sign and update Unilocal people!

Never again. Rubbery turkey bacon, messy hot lettuce, and fries that were cold and soggy. And ask yourself: would a restaurant that cares at all about its quality offer tomatoes like this? Either take a minute to seek out something that isn’t white, hard, and flavorless or don’t offer tomatoes on your menu.

Alex K told me to try this place when I was in Greenpoint, which is an area named after a certain environmentalist’s very impressive manhood(his«Green Point»), and speaking of manhoods, did you know that this shop was never named Baker’s Dozen until Alex K started coming here. They offered him free bagels if he showed them his«package», so he whipped out all twelve inches of it(trust me on this, I have it on very good authority from some Mafia friends), and they were so impressed by the«dozen inches» that they named their place«Biggest Dozen» because it was, well, the biggest dozen they’d ever seen. Over time the name was lost in translation like Bill Murray on February 2nd, and people incorrectly assumed that the name related to Baking rather than to the swollen package of my Buffalonian friend with the Brooklynish accent. What to get: Everything Bagel with whatever cream cheese you fancy. What else: My own personal cream cheese is also pretty tasty if you’re up for it. Having tried a good number of bagels in several boroughs, I can say that Baker’s Dozen makes one of the best bagels you’ll find in NYC. There are an unfortunate number of lesser-standard bagels around now, but there are still plenty of gems, and this is right up there as one of the top few in Brooklyn and the top ten in NYC. It’s also extremely cheap, cheaper than the«tourist trap» bagel spots of Manhattan and Williamsburg. Each time, I order an everything bagel with some delicious homemade cream cheese on it, such as onion, jalapeño or olive. It’s absolutely divine. I shared half of it with my travelling companion, but I could have easily eaten the whole thing myself, it was that good. The dough is so fresh and moist, the taste is fantastic, it’s quintessential NYC bageldom, the thing is so plump and scrumptious and well-formed, and the cream cheese is always fantastic. As I said about nearby Bergen Bagels, they’re definitely among the top 5 bagels in Bklyn and the top 10 bagels in NYC, and with all due respect, the top 10 bagels in NYC are probably the top 10 bagels in the USA, in fact the world. Even that one in East London, on Brick Lane, as good as it is, doesn’t really make a Harvey Dent in the top 10 list because of the NYC places. Maybe it could be high up on the«best of the rest» list but nothing more. Baker’s Dozen, though, is well inside the top ten, so get yourself over here and give it a try. It’s not one of the most fashionable bagel shops and isn’t as busy when I’ve been there as it should be, so come and do something about that and enjoy one of NYC’s best bagels. And seriously, thank you very much to Alex K for recommending it to me. He was«bang on». And speaking of banging, and Alex K, you should check out his«Baker’s Dozen» sometime. I have no idea how the Japanese girls handled it, but if you’re in the USA and you want to try, it may be available for a limited time only. You never know when he’s going to disappear back to Okinawa or Oklahoma or Okobogee Lake or Okcupid. Oh wait I think he’s already on Okcupid? Idk. Well go on there and search for«guys with a dozen» and he’ll probably come up. So to speak.

This place has delicious bagels. Unfortunately you can’t taste them because of the insane amount of cream cheese they slather on. And don’t bother getting lox — $ 9 and they only give you one slice(I’m sure it’s delicious but again, can’t exactly tell through all the cream cheese).
