We stopped in on a Monday night to sit in their covered sorta-backyard area at this ‘cheaper Al di la offshoot’ for some decent fare and weak(virgin) drinks. It’s also 50% off all wines by the bottle Monday through Wednesday, and no corkage on Tuesday.

I really love the brunch here so I’m giving it 3 stars but I really have an issue with the lack of variety on their menu I mean they don’t really cater much to vegetarians and their menu is pretty basic. I always came for brunch love the american breakfast and the huevos in purgotorios,(dont judge the spelling) great stuff but the dinner was very dissapointing. The pork chop was just ok kind of overcooked and the salads were pricey so i didnt expect the butter lettuce to be wilted with lots of those ends of the lettuce you should throw out and a bunch of trail mix crap that they just threw together with a sour unsalted champagne vinegrette. The lasagna was drenched in a bland meaty tomato sauce not enough pasta or cheese and then because it was premade with the meat sauce my vegetarian friend could only order the market fish which was the whole damn fish bones and everything. just gonna stick to brunch from now on(good bellinis though)

It’s been awhile. Disappointed to see that the calamari salad is no longer in the menu. It was delicious and I ordered it for years. The waiter said it will be back. Fingers crossed. The waiter is attentive which is nice. I am having the ricotta cavatelli. Very good. Overall this places services very good food.

I enjoyed a terrific brunch here today and can’t wait to go back and try dinner! I recommend the pork belly hash. The staff was pleasant and attentive and the restaurant was decorated nicely inside and out. They’re lucky to have one of the larger outdoor seating areas I’ve seen in the neighborhood. I met a friend here but it seemed like a great spot for a date.

We stumbled upon this place looking for something to eat in Brooklyn. It exceeded our expectations. It was a nice ambiance and the staff was great. However what was even better was true food. For an appetizer we order the crostini. It was absolutely amazing. It had lemon goat cheese and wild mushrooms. I was shocked at how good it was. For the main course I had the lasagna. It was great. It came out in a hot skillet with the cheese melted. I also had he house beer. Living in Vermont I am accustomed to great craft beer and was initially hesitant bout it. However, we were able to try and nice size sample and I ordered the beer. Everything was great. I know everything is good if I order dessert. Here I ordered vanilla ice cream with expresso and toffee on top. Let’s just say this place was great and I left very satisfied!

The atmosphere and place looks great but the food leaves much to be desired. I came here to carb load for a race and wanted to treat myself to a nice dinner. My boyfriend had the black squid ink spaghetti(CHITARRANERI) and I had the ragu pasta(TAGLIATELLEALRAGU). Both dishes were palatable but not very good. They were super salty and the pasta was overcooked. The black squid pasta was presented nicely while the ragu looked like a clumped mess. For the price, the quality was bad. I felt like I threw away $ 75 for 2 drinks and 2 dishes. I could have just bought a box of pasta and jar for $ 5 and had a better meal. I wouldn’t go back to try anything else.

Consistently perfect food at the right price. I love the concept of a more relaxed toned down al Di la. I almost always order the Chitarra Nerri but the Ricotta Cavatelli are equally delicious. My boyfriend has order the the lasagna, the tagliatelle and the pork chop and has enjoyed each meal. Definitely order a delicious side vegetable or caulfilower antispasti(when it’s in season), they’re not to be missed. Also, if you leave without trying the panna cotta topped with seasonal fruit, you’re crazy! This place is always packed on weekend nights, but it’s worth whatever the wait.

I love the brunch menu! Tried fried pork belly, bowl, and French toast. They are all great. Also, their fritters are stunning! I love the hint of citrus in the dough and the homemade jam that comes with the dishes.

I had such a lovely brunch at Bar Corvo! My friend and I were so lucky to be seated right away around 1pm, and we even scored a prime table in the covered patio(which was perfect, since it was just a tad too chilly for the full outdoor area). We started with mimosas, of course, and the fritters, which were out-of-this-world delicious! For my meal, I thoroughly enjoyed the tagliatelle ragu, but my friend found the burger a bit too spicy. Without even a word of complaint or request, the waitress removed the burger from our bill, which speaks volumes to the service here. I can’t wait to go back to try the macaroni and cheese next time!

Romantic spot hidden away in prospect heights-3 minutes from park and museum. I love going in here on a late afternoon for a cocktail and a plate of their deviled eggs(best in NYC). It’s always pretty quiet and the afternoon light is amazing. It feels like a spot you would find in Amsterdam but no it’s in the heart of BK!

Having gone for Easter Brunch I have finally woken up from my food coma and I feel like I can give this restaurant the review it deserves! I have a lot of love for this place, it was the first place I went to eat after moving here from CA last year, and I vividly remember ordering the Farro Salad. AH. The Farro Salad. A brown buttery gift of a dish with the perfect amount of goat cheese that I often dream of, it is without a doubt in my top three favorite dishes. Ever. In the history of food! Like if I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life this is a serious contender. While it can serve as it’s own dish but I also got the burger and fries(I over ate obviously hence the food coma) While the burger was really delicious it was a little too red for my taste, I had asked for it medium and it came out medium rare. Honestly I wanted it medium well but everyone always side eyes when I order it that way. Buncha meat bullies!!! Sooooo I tend to cave and go medium. It tasted wonderful, the main reason I don’t rare with my burgers is because it’s too juicy and messy and I hate that. So while I enjoyed my meal… it wasn’t exactly what I had asked for. The sides are good portions too! We got the side of polenta(which was a wonderful herby quality) and a side of bacon.(REAL hot like it came straight from the kitchen to us.) I also got a Red Snapper(Bloody Mary with Gin) which was wonderful! My sister ordered some grapefruit cocktail which she loved! I will say my friend ordered a latte and they apparently don’t have any soy, so just watch out for that. Staff was friendly and attentive! By this point I’ve tried almost everything on the menu and neither I, nor anyone I’ve gone with, have ever had a bad meal. And thought it’s a little on the pricier side, it’s like seven hours later and I’m still full. Though wishing I had gotten a Farro Salad to go.

Came here for brunch the past weekend and loved it. They have a great closed off backyard area that allows for«outside» eating during the winter. It was very sunny on Sunday so it was nice to eat under natural light for a change.(I miss summer). I had the eggs in purgatory and it was delicious!(A little over salted) but good non the less. My fiancè had the Benedict and while I don’t eat meat I did try some of the home made biscuit, which turned to me eating half of her biscuit, i thought it was very good! The only negative remarks I could make is that we ordered a screw driver which was served with«fresh squeezed orange juice» but, I don’t know if the juice was not that fresh or they were just bad oranges but it was a little tasteless and the potatoes with paprika were a bit of let down, as they weren’t really seasoned that well. Other than those two things it was a great brunch experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and I’ll definitely be back!

The farro salad is amazing! You must order. Also the fried spiced chick peas. So yummy! This is my neighborhood spot — pricey and good for a night out. The service is always gracious and the cocktails are pretty nice as well. I’ve yet to order something I didn’t enjoy and the since the menu is adjusted seasonally, there’s usually something new to experience. But seriously, order the farro salad. The winter version is warm with squash and hazelnuts. So Good!

After hitting up the Brooklyn Museum since I’m moving away soon and still hadn’t been even though I live within walking distance(way to take advantage of the area, right?), I hit up another place I’ve been meaning to go: Bar Corvo. The sister restaurant to Al Di La in Park Slope, Bar Corvo doesn’t get as much hype as the original. The menu is similar, as is the atmosphere for the most part. The place itself is bigger, with more seating options and a backyard area as well that must be great in the summertime. Luckily it’s much bigger though, since it is well known in this area as a legit dining option. I was eating alone, so I just grabbed a seat at the bar where you walk in. I didn’t get bumped into much and also I got a great few of the kitchen up front, which was hilarious for reasons I won’t go into(although I’ll say that it’s funny to see stuff explode in a chef’s face). Service was decent given how busy they were, but definitely very friendly. Since I wasn’t feeling well, I skip drinks but the cocktail and wine menus looked very good. For an appetizer I got a scallops special. While it was on the small size(only 2 medium-sized), this dish was incredible. The scallops were seared perfectly which is an unfortunately rare feat. Included with these were a variety of different mushrooms, including chantarelles, and a rich mushroom sauce. The combination of earthiness and saltiness was addicting. If I had know this would be this good, I might’ve ordered more than 1 of this as my entrée. Instead, I got the lasagna. While the noodles were fresh and the bechemel was great, I found the meat and tomato sauce on the sparse side. There wasn’t much browning of cheese on the top but there was plenty along the sides. The lasagna was still good, just not as good as it could be. Normally I wouldn’t have order this here, but it’d been awhile since I had lasagna – I wasn’t allowed to have any of the lasagna I made for Christmas – so I went for it. Next time I’ll try the tagliatelle al ragu(I almost changed my order after seeing/smelling it). I would definitely come back here, especially if there’s a good entrée special(there wasn’t any available on this night). Bar Corvo is more than just a worthy sequel to its sister restaurant; it’s an evolution of it. It’s more homey with less hype and much more character to the layout, while keeping the food quality just as high. That puts it in a pretty lofty position. Consider this one worth the trip.

Bar Corvo’s sister restaurant Al Di La is my all-time favorite restaurant. That said, I was crazy excited when I found out the chef and owner Anna Klinger also owned Bar Corvo — and it met every lofty expectation. This charming Crown Heights restaurant is more affordable than its Park Slope sister, but just as delicious. They have a few overlapping items — order the Swiss chard gnocchi… order it now — and some I hadn’t seen like the octopus salad. The octopus is perfectly cooked, and that is no easy feat. I can’t wait to come back and try more!

Super delicious Italian, with vegeterian /seafood only options, and atmosphere and service that delights. Did I mention delicious? I came here on a weeknight on my own to have dinner after a long day of work. I had butternut squash shoestring fries, kale salad, and kale soup.(fries and soup were specials). The fries were salty and crisp but sweet on the inside — sheer perfection. No dips needed. Just amazing. The soup was warm, hearty, and had white beans and kale — just lovely. And the kale salad with anchovie sauce and cheese… delightful. Great options for wine and cocktails and wonderful ambiance in décor, music, and people working there. Loved it!

No reservations policy, so you gotta wait. I went with three friends today on a Saturday at 1:30p and we ended up waiting only 35 minutes. Not bad at all. As you can read from my previous review, I’ve been here for dinner, and enjoyed my meal. Brunch was not as good, but still ok. Fritters: delicious; they reminded me of Italian«frittelle». Eggs Benedict over braised pork belly: the amount of pork belly was laughable; I’ve see pictures of this dish on this site, and I guess I had back luck; each of the two pieces was as big as a small eraser; for $ 14 they could have put more. Not happy. Also, the«salad» consisted in just a couple of leaves of lettuce. Don’t order this is you’re hungry… or cheap. Burger: it’s a good burger, but not memorable; it was well prepared but lacked a personal touch; I wouldn’t come back just for this. Overall, a pricy brunch that was just ok. I’m not expecting the moon the few times I go out for brunch, but when I pay almost $ 60 for 2 people for a brunch(including tax and tip) I’d expect more. Call me high maintenance.

I came to Bar Corvo for brunch with friends last Saturday after checking out the Botanical Gardens nearby, extending the sensory stimulation to the one sense that we hadn’t already wowed at the Gardens. While the visual beauty, the fresh, heady scents, and the exciting textures of all the Gardens’ different flora were breathtaking, our palates needed to be satisfied elsewhere(the noise of the crowds provided plenty of auditory stimulation, though not always of the euphonious variety. And so we arrived at Bar Corvo, which my bff and I had selected several days earlier. We were lucky to be quickly seated at 1PM, but that’s the gift of doing brunch on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, and at an outdoor table no less! About the food, I’ll be brief, because much of the praise is already recounted by others here; the Uovo in Purgatorio, the Wild Mushrooms over Polenta & Braised Kale, the American Breakfast, and a Panade of eggs, cheeses, vegetables and bread were all fantastic. My bff’s wife is pregnant, and super-cautious, so she requested that the egg with her Wild Mushrooms be scrambled instead of poached, and the chef readily complied. My bff got the Purgatorio eggs, and he was elated — this is just like pizza! — he declared. My Panade was ridiculously rich, though completely delicious, so I reserved half to take home with me; the portions might look moderate, but we were all way stuffed by the end. A couple of minor criticisms: my Bellini wasn’t that great, but I like mine SWEET, and this was only sweet, so just a personal tic; I’d probably like their evening cocktails fine. My husband was a little bemused by the service(slow) but I was too engrossed in conversation to really notice or care. I think I was probably the most enthused of everyone, and I want to come back for sure when I’m next in the area for the Brooklyn museum or the Public Library. Maybe because of how cute it was; you can find great food at lots of restaurants in that area, but the personable service and cozy ambiance made Bar Corvo stick out to me as extra special.

Went here with two friends for drinks and we enjoyed ourselves! We had cocktails including a «surprise us» shot from the bartender. It was delicious! We sat by the kitchen and after watching all the amazing plates go by knew we would have to come back for more!

I had brunch at Bar Corvo today with a bunch of friends. Finally a restaurant that offers its own menu and not the same thing than everywhere else! I had the wild mushroom over polenta and it was very good. My friends all liked their dish too. Most of the plates were $ 12 and some were pretty big, so it’s not that expensive. The staff was attentive and the place is very nice. I would go back.
