I love Bay Leaf! It’s delicious every time and never disappoints. Plus, their delivery is super quick!

We needed a quick fast meal before we filled our bellies with all that Brooklyn Brewery had to offer. With minimal advertisement and limited dining options in sight, we stopped in Bay Leaf, convinced it would be worth it at $ 8 for lunch on a Saturday. Bay Leaf was worth it! Tons of food came out with our meal, including delicious tea, naan, and our protein. The service was fast, but don’t expect anything friendly unless you’re Indian, or drop Indian references into conversation.

Best in the ‘Burg! Tikka! Okra! Nan and Samosa! Scratch that, one of the best in NYC period. And I’ve tried them all(read a few dozen). And, the prices can’t be beat. Forget the rest, Bay Leaf is the best.

The chicken was bland. They were nice, though, and stayed open little later to wait for us to pick up.

Nice atmosphere and the food is very good. Who cares if it’s not authentic, unless you are Indian and would notice. You can taste the variety of spices in every bite. Good enough for me.

Indian food is one of my favorite food, but this place sure does ruin it for me. I was there with my boyfriend hoping to enjoy a lovely Indian dinner. What we didn’t expect was waiting for almost 1 hour for our chicken tikka masala and chicken tandoori to arrive. When questioned why it took so long for our food to come, the manager said that they had to fulfill all their takeout order for delivery. When our food finally arrived, it was luke warm and tasted like defrosted Indian food from a supermarket. I was really disappointed by the service and the food. It was definitely one of my worst Indian dinning experience.

I was going to give it two stars because of the friendly staff, but I really did not have a pleasant meal. I’ll start off with the trinity of chutneys and the papadum. The coriander was watered down by the look and taste, it turned me off, so I tried the tamarind, and it too was watered down. When I scooped it on the papadum, I thought it would taste better, but instead, seeing the chutney slide off made me skeptical about my main course. When I bit the papadum, I can tell it was refried. :-( My friends and I ordered three dishes to share. Here’s my take on each: Chicken Korma: Small portion of chicken Sauce was devoid of coconut or almond Chana Saag: Devoid of traditional mix of Indian spices Under-salted Daal: The only dish that was close to having taste of spice The black chili was a highlight. The daal was pureed which means to tell me they added a thickening agent to increase the volume(similar to what they did with the chutney) I honestly had no expectations going in. I am sad to write this review because there are no other places in North Williamsburg to order Indian. A word of advice, don’t crave for Indian in this hood, otherwise you surely will be disappointed.

This place is a poor excuse for an Indian restaurant. Had the lunch special. Ingredients were omitted out of our dishes and they blamed a menu typo for it. Reluctantly they fixed the order– no apologies. The food wasn’t really delicious and definitely not authentic. Their spiced tea had no milk and they looked at us puzzled as we asked for it. I may not cook great Indian food, but I know it when I eat it. This truly disappointed.

Delicious and reasonably priced. I don’t eat Indian often, but what I have had was very good. This place did not disappoint.

Rude staff, long wait for food, small portions. I went here on a date with my girlfriend on a Friday night. Upon arrival, the restaurant was empty. There were only two people in the restaurant with us at that time. Not a big deal, I thought. We weren’t looking for anything fancy, we just wanted some decent Indian food for dinner. I ordered the non vegetarian dinner special and my girlfriend ordered the chana sag. 7:30pm and still there was and nothing was on our table except for water and papadum. Our waiter was inattentive and only gave us more papadum and water when we requested. Within the 1 hour that pass by, they sent out at least 20 deliveries and only 2 other guests walked through the door to sit down and eat. Those two guests were also served before us. I waived down the manager to ask where our food was. He responded, by saying that my order«takes more time to prepare» and that they were swamped with deliveries. When our food finally arrived to the table, it was lukewarm and the food appears to be premade. For the amount of time we waited, we felt that this was unacceptable. The food should have been prepared fresh. My order I was also supposed to include dessert and hot tea, in which they never offered to me. To top it all off, when the bill arrived, they charged us for the papadum. In other restaurants, the papadum is complimentary. This is no way to run a restaurant, and I sincerely hope that the restaurant learns from this mistake. I can assure you that we will not be returning to this restaurant ever again. We wasted 2 hours in this restaurant.

I’ve been here twice and loved almost everything both times. I preferred the meat samosas to the potato ones as they had much more flavor — and btw, share an order of these if you still want to save any room for main course(they are huge!) Haven’t had curry here yet, but vindaloo and shrimp biryani both were yummy as well as the chicken tikka. Appetizers came out very quickly, main courses were bit slow, but it was worth the wait. :-)

I eat Indian a lot, all over the US. For the menu prices, I was soo impressed with dinner at Bayleaf. Got the chicken vindaloo and it had much flavor! Highly recommended

Years ago, East 6th Street(in the East Village, between First and Second Avenue) was«little India.» Oh, the good old days! Each restaurant had a private backyard and permitted you to bring your own beer.(Those days are gone, folks!) . The owner told me he was once on that block — – before moving to Williamsburg. . My friends ordered chicken dishes and the quality of the poultry — and their satisfaction with their selections — were obvious. There is an experienced chef here; when we had a return visit, the quality was consistent. . And me, the vegan of the pack? Yes, I was quite happy with the veggie dishes I ordered. And the curry was«MILD» as per request. . I’d call the portion size generous; I’d label the bathrooms clean; I’d label the experience very enjoyable. . Though I am limited to the non-meat selections on the menu, everything the waiters were carrying to other tables scented the air with a delightfully spicy or savory fragrance. Indeed my vegan nose sniffed enough lamb and tandoori chicken that I felt almost SINFUL. . Bay Leaf gets my thumbs up vote!

Bland tasteless and cold. These are things you don’t want of any dish much less Indian. Delivery is terrible. Do not bother. Spice garden is way better.

BayLeaf is an Indian restaurant in Williamsburg Brooklyn… I use to drive to Roosevelt Queens to eat Indian food and to my surprise the best Indian food I had was right in my back yard. Their service and quality of food is excellent and now is my first choice for Indian food. A big plus is quantity in there serving, its a filling amount and satisfying that you could walk out with left over(doggie bag) and their prices are great. I brought my family there and recommended it to my friends. Most important very clean and cozy atmosphere.

This was my boyfriend and I’s go to Indian place when we lived in Williamsburg. They have a ton of excellent vegetarian options. My favorites are the chana chat, dal tadka, and the vegetable vindaloo. I’m sure their other dishes are great as well, but what can I say, it’s hard to try new one’s once you’re hooked! Go get your spice on!

There just is no good curry to be had in Williamsburg… I tried Taj Kabab King and Bay Leaf, both were awful; terrible quality meat, very oily, the Jalfrezi was not a Jalfrezi, the vindaloo had no flavor, the makhani was a joke, pappadoms oily and cheap, felt like everything was cooked in a hurry for unsuspecting goras. There is a business opportunity for someone to open a quality curry house in Williamsburg, an area that otherwise has some great restaurants!

Surprisingly tasty and inexpensive. For about $ 25(including tip), two people can have a quality, filling lunch in Williamsburg. The lunch special includes plenty of naan, rice, and protein to suffice an entire afternoon. You could even take some home! The service wasn’t the best, but nor was it the worst. For being the only diners there, they didn’t bother us and weren’t unhappy to serve us. When in Williamsburg, and on a budget, consider trying Bay Leaf’s lunch special.

Yum! Their lunch special is amazing! An entrée, rice, naan, and a spiced tea for $ 8? I had the saag paneer. Creamy, delicious, and mildly spiced. Had enough for lunch and breakfast the next morning. Also being 6 blocks away from my job doesn’t hurt. Love it!
