This place is now out of business. :( You’re going to want to hear this so shut up and pay attention. I have been gagging on, dry swallowing and faking my yum face over hundreds of gluten free pastries, breads and baked goodies for almost 6 years now, and I have never, NEVER experienced something as magical as Beygl’s gluten free bagel. I’ve gotten so used to seeing employees go into the fridge or freezer case to pull out a bag of store bought gluten free bagels(typically Udi’s — which suck) and every time I think«If I wanted store bought bagel shaped styrofoam, I could be pantsless on my couch spooning cream cheese onto it instead of spending $ 5 extra because I walked into a store. This was different. When I asked for a gf bagel, the dude(I don’t know his name, but he was very friendly and helpful) asked me what type. I have choices! They had plain, sesame and everything. At least I think that’s what he said. I was literally so excited that these bagels were freshly made that I’m pretty sure I blacked out for a second. I got an everything with some cinnamon raisin creamy cream cheese and high fived the cashier(in my head). Walking out I realized I probably should have gotten it toasted. I mean a freshly made gf bagel is one thing, but I assumed it wasn’t going to be perfect. Toasting typically minimizes whatever gross texture/taste you’re trying to avoid. Boy, was I wrong. First, the bagel looked like a bagel. The texture was somewhat pillowy but also had a good weight to it. There was a nice crunch to it with the perfect amount of everything toppings on the outside. And the taste was just so… bagely. I mean it actually tasted like a bagel. A real live bagel. So if you ever want to eat a bagel. Gluten free or not, don’t bother going anywhere else. This is the place you need to be.

Closed by the city. What a travesty! It was such a great bagel/breakfast shop. Thanks, diBlasio.

This is it, guys. Do you SEE those everything bagels? All those toppings? The poppy seeds! The salt! The sesame seeds! If you read my bagel reviews, you will notice that I am much more particular about my everything’s toppings than I am about fluffiness and size(it takes all kinds). This spot strikes the perfect balance. Their lox cream cheese is a little extra but has sizeable chunks of good quality lox in it. And their iced coffee is no slouch. That’s right, it’s actually cold brew. Limited seating but you can eat on the bench around the tree outside or take it to the nearby park. I am sadly just outside of their delivery area but will not hesitate to drag a guest down this way in order to experience the delight of Beygl. I can only imagine what their BEC must taste like.

…that amazing moment when you try your first real NY bagel since moving here a year ago and it is absolutely mind blowing. Y’all, gluten free bagels are like finding GOLD – especially when they’re house made and don’t come out of a frozen bag. I got a poppy seed GF bagel with lox cream cheese and egg. It was POPPYIN and made me so freaking EGGCITED. I got 2 sesame to go as well because I couldn’t pass it up. Basically, whenever someone asks me to do brunch I’m telling them that we’re getting bagels from Beygl and there’s nothing you can do to change my mind.

Got two bagels here last weekend during my first visit after storming out of my usual nearby place, Brownstone, which happened to be out of: plain, cinnamon raisin, sesame, onion, everything, egg. The Beygl bagels were great and I didn’t wait too long despite there being a bit of a line. A little denser and smaller than some NYC bagels but tasted really, really good. Plenty of every type of bagel on hand despite a busy Sunday morning rush. One thing that made me so happy and will probably keep me coming back is the ordering /payment setup. The awkward, stressful, and inexplicable«bottleneck at the counter and throw some money in the general direction of the single overwhelmed cashier around the time when your order is ready» system at place at other bagel spots nearby(Brownstone, La Bagel Delight, Terrace Bagels) is replaced with a very tidy system where the order taker hands you a written ticket, which one of two cashiers rings up quickly at a separate counter and hangs on to so they know what goes with what order. So easy and so efficient that it’s going to be hard to go back to the others on a busy weekend morning.

I’ve been there twice and the employees were rude both times. If you ask about anything on the menu they just grunt and point at the board the bagel and sandwich listings on it. No smiles or how are you doings… Just a bored or annoyed looking worker who is being inconvenienced by your presence. Food is pretty good! But there’s lots of good bagel shops in Park Slope. Probably won’t be going back.

Really good bagels!!! You can smell the everything bagel as soon as you walk in, the place is really small? Like tiny! Only a limited amount of seating(maybe three tables) which are always occupied. There is no public bathroom, which I found out the hard way with a toddler… no good! But overall the bagels are delicious, so is the cream cheese, the coffee was nothing to rave about.

I’ve lived in NYC for 2 years. I loooove bagels. In my youth I would sometimes eat chocolate chip bagels for days on end. Yet I have never had an NYC bagel. I popped my bagel hole at this place. An egg bagel with plain cream cheese. Keeping it simple. Plain bagels are lame. I love egg bagels. They are chewy and«plain» with a wonderful eggy richness and fun color. I unfortunately forgot to get it toasted. Even untoasted, this was a delightful bagel. Chewy. Eggy. Satisfying. Delicious cream cheese. I never thought I liked cream cheese. I devoured this bagel. And so begins my hunt for the best bagel. My control? The type of bagel. Toasted egg bagel with plain cream cheese.

I used to go here all the time– they have great bagels! One time, I was accidentally given the wrong bagel– I ordered gluten free and they gave me a regular bagel. Thankfully I noticed prior to eating it(since the bagels look different). No problem! Mistakes happen. I called and spoke with someone who said he was the owner… And I explained what happened and he told me that his people don’t make mistakes! Lol… So you must hire the most efficient people in the world… Anyway I told him, not to worry… I’ll be in tomorrow, so they can exchange it for me. He said NO! I’m not giving you anything! I was shocked since my boyfriend and I were very regular customers there for years!!! The staff there seems good, but as a business owner(I’m still hoping he wasn’t the owner! But I’m sure he was) you should be a bit nicer! especially since i could have been very sick. We miss coming to you guys, but we won’t spend another penny here! His finishing line to me was that he doesn’t need me as a customer– which is probably true… But I hope you miss all the money you used to make off of everyone else that I’ve told this story to.

Decent Lox & Bagel options, which is exactly what I was looking for at 7 am on a Tuesday. I needed to get something for the ride out to my companies North New Jersey office. They were not stingy with the salmon(yes, I’m looking at you repeat offender Brownstone Bagels on Union!) the tomato slices were huge, and the scallions in the cream cheese were thick. Service was quick and bagged up properly for on the go. It all made for an awesome breakfast, and Im sure my breath was great all day

Come early on a Sunday morning bc at 1145AM they were out of a few kinds of bagels: multigrain and jalepeno cheddar. Order at the bagel counter and then pay the cashier behind you. I got an everything bagel with scallion cream cheese toasted. The bagel is uniformly covered with«everything» and is just the right amount of chewy and gotta give it a little bite. The cream cheese melted just the way I like it with scallion in every bite.

Plain bagel with strawberry cream cheese, marble rye artisan bagel with sun dried tomato, and an iced coffee. I fancy myself an expert on iced coffee. I have been drinking iced coffee with cream for 15+ years and have had everything from bitter corporate *$ to ridiculously robust Colombian coffee in Colombia(yes, it was THAT good). I am not an expert on a lot of culinary items but I know good iced coffee and Begyl knows what’s up. The iced coffee is a cold brew, so smooth and flavorful that I even bought a glass jug of the stuff to take with me. Now, the namesake of this place is not Iced Coffee, it’s after the NYC breakfast staple, the bagel. The bagels here are supposed to be one of the rope ten in the city and I really doubt that their advertising is false because the bagels are so good. They don’t have as many options as some places but all the bagels I’ve tried here are near perfect. If you’re in the neighborhood, stop by here. Bonus: customer service is fast, friendly and knowledgable.

Well, I came back here two more times since my review. The first time went smoothly and I thought I’d take down my review. Then I went back this morning and had the rudest service yet. On top of that we came home to find our bagels inedible. The gluten-free bagels were completely uncooked on the inside. Went straight into the trash. See photo. I think these guys need a bit more oversight.

I have mixed feelings about this place. I’ll start with the good. Their gluten free bagels are delicious and they offer a lot of great toppings for bagels beyond the usual cream cheese. I have tried their coffee and to me it’s nothing special. Now, on to the bad… the staff here is extremely unfriendly and rude. I came here one morning for a bagel and when I asked for which flavors of gluten free bagels they had, the guy made a big show about how annoying it was to tell me the flavors. After I ordered, he made a face at me about wanting humus on my bagel. Finally I got my bagel and they lady at the counter was just as unpleasant. I came here another morning for a bagel and I was told very rudely that they don’t have any more gluten free bagels. So basically if they could improve on the service of the employees I wouldn’t mind going here more often!

It’s a sad day in the bagel world. Whenever you see a restaurant that has such strong accolades including«one of the best bagel shops in New York City» you expect a lot. Unfortunately, Beygl fell short for my fiancé and me. We casually walked by on our way to Union Street and we saw this cute place. The décor is very nice. Lots of wood. The menu is also very impressive. There are many options to choose from including sandwiches, omelettes, and even pancakes. I decided that I wanted an everything bagel toasted with smoked salmon, cream cheese, capers, onions, and tomatoes. My fiancé ordered a sesame bagel toasted with plain cream cheese. Since I felt like a fat ass that day, I also ordered a side of pancakes. After about three or four minutes, our bagels were ready. One bite and it was all over. The bagel was tough and kinda dry. It was almost as if the dough was overworked. Maybe the bagels were stale. Regardless, it was a big disappointment. My fiancé said something similar about his bagel. It was too chewy for him. I noticed that my pancakes had not come out yet. After a few minutes, the cashier brought them to me. To be honest, they looked like McDonald’s flapjacks. They were thin and not as tasty as I would have hoped. They were also served with some syrup that comes in a little condiment container like the dipping sauces at McDonald’s. In other words, artificial syrup. Gross. The only reason I am giving two stars instead of one is because the fillings in our bagels were actually good. The smoked salmon was tasty and the cream cheese was really good. And to think I had such high hopes.

I have walked past here and never actually knew it sold bagels– I felt dumb that I had missed this spelling… Well I didn’t get a bagel but my friends did and it looked good. My cookie was good and the counter staff was nice.

Slowly but surely, Beygl has become my go-to bagel stop every Saturday and Sunday morning. I’ve honestly only had the egg bagel sandwich and coffee, but both items have always satisfied my hungover soul. The bagels are fresh and have a great texture(awkward but true). The egg omelette looks like it actually came from two eggs and you can add gouda(hooooooller). Price-wise, yeah, it’s a little steep. I’ll admit that I’m also a huge sucker for the exposed brick and rustic wooden tables. Note to self: must try the pastrami lox.

Don’t get me wrong, Beygl — the food is still good… It’s the consistent quality of the food and how it has been delivered. For the last three times, I have been at Beygl I would always get the same thing: Avocado egg white omelete but the quality and deliver was different — in a deteriorating way. The first time I had it, it was delicious — big wads of avocado in the omelete and on top like a fan over a bed of roasted potatoes and a side of well buttered bread(and add a slice of orange). The second time, still as good with the big wads of avocado in the omelete but a little charred roasted potatoes and no bread! The third time, no big wads of avocado or the big fan of avocado on top. It was very lacking in avocado over the course of my meal — thus lacking in flavor and not worth the money. Not to mention that I didn’t get my slice of orange and they didn’t give bread yet again. Luckily I checked my pick up order and noticed they didn’t give us the bread and asked for it! Beygl, if you keep this up you may lose a customer.
