This review is for the Barber Shop portion of Blind Barber. I came in with a friend who had a long beard. He booked an appointment with a woman stylist he usually goes to. When we got there he was told that the stylist was no longer there but any of the other available barbers/stylist could service him. He was reluctant because he thought that it was kind of scheme-ish to let clients book appointments with a stylist that’s no longer there only to throw them at any other barber that’s available at the shop in order to keep the incoming business. Not cool. Not cool at all. He decided to wing it and proceeded to get his beard trimmed. Like what can go wrong it’s a beard? Now he had a Billy Gibbons’ beard from ZZ Top in length mixed with Conor McGregor’s roundness in shape. When he asked for a slight trim because he wanted to retain most of the length, they instead fucked his beard up by giving him an extreme trim on the side burns and cheek lines and a distorted shape of his jaw and under beard by not keeping its roundness and making it to an awkward cone. All the while I was asking about a one a length hair cut being I have really long hair and no one in there seemed to know what they was talking about. Luckily I didn’t get anything done because they fucked up my homeboy’s beard. He ended up having to look for the stylist that left Blind Barber on Social Media to arrange a real appointment in order for her to fix what Blind Barber mishandled. The really weird part is that the dude that fucked his beard up was white and his old barber the stylist woman is black. Which confused me because I thought if you were white you should be skilled at doing white hair and vice versa for being black. I thought the same rules applied for gender. I guess race or gender doesn’t define skill. Word to the wise any business dealing with bookings that books you for personnel that no longer works for them is a sham. Fuck them.

Found this place through the Cups App. And so glad I found both. Sophisticated understated crowd in the coffee shop. Good vibes and sexcellent coffee. I go for the cold brew. They have $ 2 refills which I’ve not found in this neck of the woods. Generous baristas make it work. They use Intelligentsia coffee which I love. Might pick up a bag as a gift. Look forward to being back.

Review for the actual barber shop: Been looking for a new place to get a haircut since moving too far from the last shop, where they were doing a great job. Everyone and their grandma rec’d this place to me so after letting my hair grow too long I finally pulled the trigger. Disclosure: I absolutely gave the cut a few days of washing and setting before I made this review. And the cut I asked for was not some complex trendy garbage undercut, asked for a simple textured crop. First thing the barber(who I’m not gonna name here because shaming any personnel is not my endgame) says to me is «normally we don’t take bookings after 10AM», like I should be thanking the Don for this holy favor. Didn’t want to get into a thing with the person about to cut my hair, but if your website has an open appointment book, take it up with the people running that, not me. Plus your schedule was wide open– sorry you had to work today? Aright, so I tell them exactly the cut I want and show them a picture as is the move with a new cutter. Stupidly I wore glasses that day, so I couldn’t see a lick of what was happening, truly a blind haircut. If I had, I could have seen what was being done and put a stop to it. When I first showed them the cut the barber goes«are you sure you want it that short?». Well the picture was not THAT short, and I figured they just meant as compared to the mop currently on my head. I put on my glasses at the end(after they warned me not to so they could style it a bit more) to find myself looking at a buzz cut not too far off from what I used to get at the Italian joint upstate as a little kid. The clipper work is great, no question this person can do a helluva fade. But the cut I showed them was longer on top by a good half inch and had way more texture, not to mention I specifically said keep the top layered and textured. Now yeah– sometime you get a cut shorter and it grows into what you ask for, but the proportions are way off, plus they put no thought into the shape of my head or hairline. Maybe they were offended that I showed them a picture? Like«oh you think i don’t know what you mean?». Plus the two barbers on staff were talking the whole time(about how much they don’t want to work). Far be it from me to decide if someone is zen enough to multi-task on cutting, but the results kind of speak for themselves. While I feel like a narc chode saying all this on Unilocal, the only reason I didn’t say anything at the shop was I know some cuts look shitty at first and come together later. It’s possible in a month from now this will look better, but you could say that about most any hair cut. For $ 45, I expect to leave the place pretty close to styled in the way I asked. Maybe she was having a bad day. Sucks for me? TL;DR: Overpriced hipster garbage as is par for the course in that area of BK. Could have gotten the same cut for $ 16 at any decent non-chain neighborhood joint.

Chicken tacos with wasabi peas? That’s all I’m going to say. The cook knows what she’s doing and is very knowledgable on Beyoncé’s ‘Lemonade’. The bartender knows how to make drinks that make your feel warm and fuzzy but taste like lemonade. I’d live here if they’d have me.

I get skin fades as often as I can from Alana Lucia — sometimes as often as 3 times a month. She’s the dream barber because not only is she extremely talented, she also knows how to read her client’s vibe: she can hang and talk with literally anybody, but she also knows when you’re just there for a chill ritual where you keep each other quiet content company. If you’re an LGBTQ person looking for a barber, she’s your guy. If you’re any kind of person who’s looking for a barber that will listen to you and make you feel and look like yourself, she’s your guy.

I went here for coffee. Two people who came later were served first and the waiter ignored me for a while at the bar. I had the impression that they are mainly catering to their friends and regulars here, like they did not want new customers. It is the same crowd you would meet at Barcade playing videogames, mostly male, mostly«bro”/frat-boy style. Makes you even appreciate the Hipsters at other places in the area. Not a very friendly atmosphere.

Best egg wrap I’ve ever had. I came here for their ridiculously strong iced coffee and ended up also leaving with a «health nut» wrap. Kale, egg whites, aged white cheddar, and pesto. I opted for a spinach wrap. It was the best egg wrap I’ve ever tasted and the pesto was blended perfectly. The entire meal cost $ 15.00.

Paul is the dude! Great cut, always on time, always efficient, always top notch. Free coffee with a cut so how could you go wrong!

Why is service here always so horrible. The staff members here are rude and it makes the whole experience of poor quality. They treat you like you’re invisible even when I was trying to catch their attention to order a freaking drink to go. I already use cups app that makes my transaction quick, why do they have to take up so much of my extra time and ignore me? Their coffee is good, but their attitude is horrible. No coffee is worth this treatment! There are so many other better coffee shops out here in this area — dont need to take this one.

Love this spot just a few blocks away from my apartment. On the weekdays, come here with your laptop and grab a coffee, some food, and do work for a couple hours. On the weekends, I don’t think you’re allowed to have laptops because it gets kinda crowded and they want to maintain a good flow of people. It’s a well-lit casual spot with a super friendly staff. The coffee here is fantastic and all the food is yummy and well-prepared. So far, I’ve only gotten the spinach wrap and the grilled cheese with mozzarella, tomatoes and pesto with a side of tomato soup. I liked the grilled cheese a bit better because it wasn’t as heavy and the pesto they use is really really really delicious. Highly recommend that.

«DONUT» buy Dough’s donuts from here! Disclaimer** This review is strictly for the Dough donut that they sell as a third party. $ 3 for a donut plus tax?($ 2.75 reg price no tax) Sure why not since it saves me a 20 min drive down to Dough’s Bed-Stuy location… But unfortunately these donuts were not fresh at all… I guess that is something to consider when purchasing donuts from a third party. The donut was not soft and chewy like the fresh ones your get from their original location. Instead they taste very dry like it’s been sitting on the counter for days. Now I have two more to eat… Probably have them with milk before I choke. Learned my lesson, next time it’s straight to the real deal!

I go here for coffee when I stay in Williamsburg because it’s on the way to the L. I can’t really say anything for the food or cocktails(or the haircutting services), but the coffee is good. Blue Bottle, so you can’t eff that up too much. Last time I was here, the person next to me ordered some kind of breakfast. It looked good. They don’t encourage looking at your laptop, favoring in-person interactions. How old school! I did some knitting there. Not sure where that falls.

I came in to get some work done the other day. First thing you notice is all the mac books and hipsters in this place. I came in my 3 year old PC laptop. I actually felt a tad embarrassed taking it out my bag. I really wanted eggs but breakfast ended about 20 minutes before I arrived. Thankfully the chef was feeling friendly that day and allowed me to order a breakfast item. I ordered a egg spinach wrap and a chai latte with almond milk. Egg whites, spinach, cheddar and turkey bacon in a spinach wrap, which comes with a side of home fries. Really scrumptious and filling, but a tad salty(i figure it was the cheddar and turkey bacon in one). After about 30 minutes of the waiter helping tirelessly to get me on the wifi network, another customer eventually helped me realize that I wouldnt get online because my laptap had 2G connectivity and the wifi was 5G(whatever the hell that means). Nevertheless I stayed to finish my food and finished writing some stuff while using my phone to research stuff. I eventually left to go to another café the next block over :-(. This was a bit disappointing because I wanted to stay to take in the atmosphere and the cute chef. The waiter is dope for deducting the cost of my chai from my bill for all my trouble :-). I want to come back to try their other food items and cocktails. My Tips: — If you have an old ass laptop and you’re looking to get some work done here, just go somewhere else. — It got a tad too loud at 1 point. Loud customers + raunchy 90s hiphop = entertainment but not very conducive to focusing on your work without headphones in.

Simple and chic at the same time! Love the soft color choices and welcoming atmosphere. The cup of capp was perfect, not bitter whatsoever and loaded with the necessary shot to wake my sleepyface up. Oh, they also carry a small selection of Dough donuts. What else do you want?

I really liked visiting this cute, little spot. It’s basically a café by day and a bar at night. It isn’t an extremely big place but the drinks are incredible. They are also reasonably priced. The bar tender was extremely nice and went out of the way to make us feel welcome. They played great music, too and didn’t mind us dancing in the isles! Will be hitting this place up often!

* Coffee Space Review * I love how open and light it is in here — It’s a cozy place to chill out and it’s a good place for an afternoon one on one chat. Unfortunately, my cup of coffee was sour and needed milk added to be enjoyed. Also, if you are attempting to use this space to work, study or focus it may be a challenge due to loud and vulgar rap music, which was my experience. I hope to come back and try this place again, but I hope next time I wont have to experience involuntary cringes every 5 seconds due to inconsiderate music choices. I will most likely be back to give this place another try and hopefully I can leave a better review!

Huge fan of the cuts, especially Nijella(possible bad spelling) who has such a stellar attention to detail, always leave feeling satisfied. She’s my go to but I know some of the other guys are pretty solid too. FYI it looks like the basic has gone up to $ 45 — still pretty reasonable in comparison to other places in the city and BK. Can’t go wrong with the drink included. Strong showing of beers on tap and the Blue Bottle is always a good pick me up. Make an appointment in advance for sure. This place has definitely started to pick up business so walking in is a lot harder. Waiting for my cut now

Love me my hipster coffee shops. My friends and I were trying to hit up Okonomi next door for breakfast and because there was a line there, we deferred to Blind Barber to get ourselves a cup of Blue Bottle(we’re all from California, so we love that stuff). Anyways, Blind Barber is a coffee shop on the outside… and when you go in, it’s a barber shop! It’s like a speakeasy barber shop or something. I dig the atmosphere and vibe of this place. They have a pretty cute flower arrangement about how«you’re working too hard» and banning laptops during certain times. Not sure how enforced it was, but I thought it was a cool arrangement. The Blue Bottle here … is well Blue Bottle. Good stuff. I’m not a coffee connoisseur so it’s hard for me to add beyond that. tldr; barber shop disguised hipster coffee store serving up some delicious Blue Bottle
