I also wanted to express my negative experience with this juice bar/coffee shop. I used to be a regular there, but apparently it came under new management and some poor decisions were made. Part of what is lovely about a neighborhood is getting to know your local shops’ employees. Earlier this year, I came in and found that the baker, Merin, was let go, apparently out of personal reasons. She is such a talented baker and a very pleasant person, always exceedingly friendly and talkative to customers. Other employees communicated that she was in fact let go for personal reasons, which is so short-sighted. Obviously the new management realized this after hearing from customers, because she was soon rehired. However, they continued to make the mistake, firing their most efficient and polite juicemaker, Adam. Again, it was relayed to me that it was for personal reasons. Adam was never anything but pleasant and polite to me and other regulars, and always worked quickly without giving attitude, which is less than I can say for the coffeeshop employees in front, who seem to resent the fact that they have a job, but somehow get to keep it. Adam knew his customers by name and created a comfortable, clean environment that was welcoming for everyone who came in. I had already had it with the rude, slow staff at the coffee bar, but came back after getting to know Adam and Merin; now that the management has shown themselves to be completely out of touch with their community and the skills of their employees, I will not be coming back, though I will continue to recommend Merin’s delicious baked goods.
