Blooms on Fifth

Terrible reviews for a wonderful shop. I’ve bought a number of my plants from Blooms that are thriving years later. Never a complaint from me! I couldn’t imagine complaining about receiving flowers.

i used this florist for my wedding. ordered tulips, pedestal with candles, grass ornamentation. Only the tulips arrived at the wedding and some very cheap pillar glass candles. Nothing else arrived for the event. Beyond disappointing. Not to mention I did not get my money back. Please don’t use this florist. Just because it looks fancy and on fifth ave doesn’t mean there any good.

VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! I had a delivery made and marked the time it was supposed to get delivered to the recipients work address — which was 2 blocks away from their location. Of course they did not deliver on time, and the recipient left work (it was supposed to be a surprise). They completely disregarded the time and told me they couldn’t do anything about it, no refund, no credit, and no later delivery — not even making a new arrangement and walking it over! Myself living in Staten Island, I had to drive all the way to Brooklyn to pick up the arrangement or else I would basically be throwing away the money. Mind you, they were very rude about it.

Literally the ugliest bouquet I have ever recieved

I received a beautiful bouquet called «Summer Floral Garden» delivered to me on a hot and sweltering summer day.
The message was handwritten, which is a nice «personal» touch (usually it’s just a computer printout).
The delivery guy called 30 minutes before to confirm that I was home and had a great attitude when dropping off the flowers!
I think the flowers must have been ordered in the morning and delivered by late afternoon (2:30 pm).
The flowers are still looking nice on the second day… So far, so good.

Wish I had read the recent reviews. Last week I ordered a Zen arrangement to be sent to a local funeral home and paid extra for the premium (more than just for either standard or better) arrangement. I was told by Blooms that the arrangement was not large – Ok, I wanted artistry over size. The florist also told me that the vase may differ from that shown on their website. OK with that too. but when I actually saw the arrangement as delivered to the wake, I was so embarrassed by the non-​Zen puny arrangement. There should have been additional orchids for the extra money I paid. Nope. Just extra greenery that looked nothing like the picture I ordered from. There were also some ugly orange flowers in the arrangement. Plain awful. I would never have recognized the arrangement as what I ordered. Not likely to ever call here again. The few things my family had gotten here before were OK, but this purchase negated all that.

Very disappointing. Ordered an arrangement for $ 100 for my wife’s birthday along with balloons. It took almost 7 hours to come and they did not include the balloons. Also, the arrangement was surprisingly small for the extra $ 10 I paid for a larger arrangement. When I called to ask why the the delivery had not arrived, the store told me I was not a «priority delivery». I will not be using this florist again.

This is one of the worst experiences I’ve had ordering anything in my life. When the flowers arrived they were clearly tipped at some point in the vehicles. They were soaking wet and leaves had torn off. Flowers that sit in water die very quickly and I called the owner who refused, even after I sent him pictures of my dead flowers to do anything about it. Just say away, there are so many amazing florists in Brooklyn.

Bad attitudes. And worse flowers. I wanted to spend about $ 50 – 60. The dude had an awful attitude and just pulled out random BS. Than he starts adding each piece up a la cart. No thanks. Than I Asked for a dozen roses and he pulled out the crappiest looking roses they had left. What a joke. I walked out, no way I’m dropping $ 60+ on something that already looks like it saw better days…
Florists in nyc are a dime a dozen, no need to throw this guy business when there’s other florist who will go above and beyond to make sure your satisfied.

He paid for the same day delivery and ordered a premium Sugar & Sweet Bouquet where the total came out to $ 68. Unfortunately this was «my local area» florist that this site used.
They came by my house but no one was home. They did not leave a note to inform the recipient. For flowers to total up to $ 68, I expect professional work. They did not send me the premium, this look exactly like the photo and according to the website, it would be deluxe which was $ 10 less. I’m not complaining because this is a local florist and I know that it is hard work. But to charge $ 68 for flowers with the description that I explained… I don’t know…
It isn’t a week yet and the pink roses are already dying… which makes me think what the definition of FRESH is.

Always get my flowers from here. Whenever I’m having company I love filling the house with different flowers. My first stop is always blooms! The flowers look beautiful and the arrangements always last longer than expected :) what I really love most is that I can go into the store and pick out exactly what I like and the owner will create something beautiful with the flowers I picked. The store is so nice and clean and I agree with other reviews that it has a cute old school neighborhood kind of touch to it ! Def my go to flower shop !

Unfortunately I have to agree with the other posters. The company sent me flowers that were 100% different than the ones my friend ordered for me. I received pink flowers instead of blue and yellow, different flower types than the ones ordered, and a different bouquet size. When my friend who had surprised me with the flowers tried to rectify the situation, Blooms on Fifth tried to repo my flowers! Yes seriously, they wanted to come and pick up my flowers (leaving me with none), until the situation was rectified. Which was so shocking, because I was only the gift recipient, and not the gift purchaser. After calling to inform me of this, they called back five minutes later and informed me that they had decided to not repo my flowers. When I politely explained the situation to the lady who called to tell me that, she didn’t even offer an apology for the mistake! I sincerely suggest ordering flowers from elsewhere. Avoid this place!!! Receiving a gift of flowers should be fun and delightful, and not unpleasant!

Walked in, guy on phone saw me, waited a minute or so for him to acknowledge he had a customer in he store which he never did… walked out. First and last time at this place.

Boyfriend sent me my fav stargazer pink lily flowers for V-​day. Arrived a day before (cool with me, was happy to be the first one with flowers) already past full bloom. By the time 3 days had passed 6 of the 7 lily flowers had fallen off. The last on is still holding on strong, but it’s very brown and I expect it can only go about 1 – 2 more days. Today is day 6. For the price you kind of expect them to last longer than 3 days. Called the shop a few times with no answer on both lines. Usually you receive some in bloom and some buds. But to receive all past full bloom is ridiculous.

Totally unethical store. My company ordered a get well bouquet and unfortunately it was filled by this store. First of all the store was supposed to call me before delivering, to give me time to get down the stairs (I am sick after all). They did not call. Then I found out that the flowers they delivered were not remotely what had been ordered. They just put together something they had lying around. It was a nasty mixed bunch of about 30% flowers 70% greens. When I finally threw out the greens they filled a supermarket shopping bag and left me with a few lonely flowers in a truly nasty vase. The bouquet and the vase they sent me cannot be found on the webpage (I believe it was proflowers) from which it was ordered. I suggest Blooms on Fifth stick to making funeral wreaths, this way they can use up all the cheap green stuff and stick in a carnation here and there.

I have to echo the negative feedback you will read about this place. I live around the corner and go out of my way to avoid buying anything here. In general, I think their business is largely funeral flowers and let’s face it, in that part of the flower business it doesn’t matter if the flowers are not fresh or prepped to survive in to the next day.

I have been going to Blooms for years. I find the $ 10 bouquets to be a great deal, better than any around! The florists are very willing to meet my requests for bouquets and I find that the flowers last a long time. My flowers are always wrapped so beautifully and I find the workers to be polite and helpful! I agree that there is a very «old fashioned neighborhood feel» at Blooms.

I bought flowers here one afternoon for a dinner party. They were rather expensive but looked beautiful. Unfortunately they were brown and dead the very next morning. Go to Park Florist or Zuzu’s Petals instead. Even the nearby deli’s flowers last longer.

A friend of mine ordered flowers for my birthday from this place. I had no idea they were coming (a pretty common situation with flowers, one would think) and they supposedly arrived while I wasn’t home, but there was no sign of them. No note on the door, nothing in the lobby, no indication that anything had been delivered or where it was.
My friend called the florist to find out what happened, and a few minutes later I got a call from them myself. Someone named Josephine (I think) had a huge attitude and seemed to assume that I could just drop everything in the middle of my work day to go back to Brooklyn and deal with the flowers her own business had mis-​delivered. I found her rude and unpleasant, especially when you consider that getting flowers for your birthday is supposed to be a nice surprise, not an annoying ordeal.
The following day when I finally did track down the random member of the building staff the flowers had been left with (not a doorman as we don’t have one, not the super either), they were dead.
