Bossa Nova is essentially a bar with a small dance floor and a whole lot of fog but ask the Brooklyn techno fans and it’s one of the best nightclubs in NYC. I don’t disagree, it’s a good spot for sure. It’s got everything a Brooklyn dance music fan would love and the more drunk you are the bigger the room becomes because of that disorienting fog that is pumped like they’re curing sobriety with it. They’ve also got great cocktails, personally I’m about that watermelon flamingo but the club mate is a classic Bossa go-to. The only real downside here are the bathrooms, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve almost peed myself waiting in line and then once I’ve gotten in there wondered how anyone could have possibly just spent so much time in there. Great for weeknights when there is usually no cover and the size of the space(small) means it doesn’t take too many bodies to make it a poppin’ party. Weekends after a certain time you will pay a cover and it will be tightly packed.

I’ve been here once with mostly male friends and I really enjoyed the vibe. It’s casual enough that you don’t really /have/to dance if you’re with company who isn’t down to, but the music was pretty good if you do want to. I love the fog machine and the drinks seemed good from what friends got. I don’t frequent clubs that often, but I’ll be coming back to this one when I do. I think they could have a bit more room for sitting there, but that’s not a huge thing.

Came here on a Saturday night. Ambience: The area seems a little shady. Once you go inside, is not any less shady lol. When you walk in, you encounter a very dark hallway that leads into a narrow space, one side where the bar is and the other with booths to sit. Based on the smell, you could tell a couple of people were having a good time with Mari, if you know what I mean. As you keep walking to the back, you enter a square room with the Dj booth. You can barely see who you are dancing with so take a close look before exchanging any numbers. Mist is sprayed every so often which I personally liked. The crowd was quite diverse, from preppy, to hipster, to «bros», I was quite surprised. Music: It’s techno, like the music with no lyrics. I’m cool with this music but only to an extent, I need some lyrics or be extremely intoxicated to dance to this type of music for more than 1.5 hours. Drinks: We got there before midnight and the mate drink was sold out, I was so so disappointed! Shots were $ 13. Service: Not that I had much interaction but everyone seemed nice. This was an experience worth embarking in at least once. Chances that I will return are slim but not impossible.

Hell yes. Dark, damp, and sweaty. Foggy as hell. Shitty bar with $ 5 cans of beer plus techno. Very young nerdy foreign crowd. Medicinal, I swear.

Love Bossa Nova. Definitely the best club in New York if you’re looking for an authentic clubbing experience(read: no bottle service, no bathroom attendents, very few bros). The drinks are also great and strong. Expect techno and house music.

Wow. I’m really disappointed to see that it says«no cover charge» on the description of this place. That is a total LIE. Went to this club last weekend to check it out since I live nearby, my two girlfriends and I walk in and I took a picture or 2 of them walking towards the entrance of the club which is a dark hallway. We get to the end of the hall, and there’s this rude African American woman who yells out«this isn’t a bloody photo shoot, why y’all taking pictures for?!» She was so rude. Then she asks for a $ 10 cover charge and since I haven’t been since they renovated the place I thought it was a new cost(especially on Saturday night) Anyway, will not be going there anymore or recommend it to anyone else. Rather head to the deli next door for beer and tacos

I come for the booze, I stay for the beats. My favorite spot in the area, excellent house and techno music and the crowd lacks any overbearing sense of douchiness

It was such an unpleasant experience. We have waited for 10 min and the bar tender was just busy chatting/drinking with her friends and giving shots to them other than serving customers. 10 min is a relatively short wait if the bar is busy but there were only 4 customers there tonight. I have heard it is a good place but the bartender tonight deserved 0 star tonight. This one star is for its good reputation as having good music.. Came here on a Saturday. There was a line and it was amusing to watch the bouncer turn people away for whining and trying to cut. Waited for an hour, but it was worth it. Drinks were so cheap, music was good, hot and foggy, efficient/friendly staff, and the other patrons were respectful and not getting up in my space when I’m trying to dance. Music wasn’t my style after a while but whatever. I had a really nice time.

If you left a negative review of this place without understanding what the owner is trying to do for Bushwick, I guess it says a lot more about you than the establishment.

if you don’t like it here then leave! If you don’t think this is heaven then we don’t want you here… The people, the drinks, the vibes and tunes, the place where djs go to leave there troubles — artists, and the savy — this place has that special something — club mates and fresh squeezed fruits in delicious cocktails served by the lovely barstaff — only downside is the bathroom could use a cleaning haha but no one cares as long as they have a pot to piss in! P. S. — If you don’t like what you hear don’t bash the place for the music, just go back into your car and turn on z100 and everything will be better for the both of us!

always incredibly foggy like 80s music video mist, somewhere in Miami or something. Sometimes this is coupled with burning incense. disorienting but not unpleasant. Happy Hour prices are very solid(and honestly this is my fav time to go) for the selection. there’s always a DJ in the evening. The frozen drinks are tasty and the cocktails have always been on the level. Have not been here on the weekends since they started a cover but heard if you get there earlier it’s not a problem. Not a place to talk, but fun to people watch with friends and shout things to each other from time to time. Pre game or night cap. Huge water jars with lemon/cucumber add an oddly classy vibe. Pretty skeevy — prob illicit things happening. Whateva. the bartenders are pretty pretty. Hey gurrrrl… I come by every now and then without expecting too much, other than a solid drink, either way.

The fog machine will choke a bitch. The music is usually killer and I start to dance while at the bar ordering my Barbancourt rhum, playing air hi-hats on the upbeats while the sexy barkeep does one of those dramatic long pours a foot deep. No probs here; take this $ 2 tip papi/mami! One time a drugged out Italian girl wouldn’t let me deliver a drink to my friend on the bathroom line because she suspected I was cutting. Telling her to politely take a seat and get out of my face, she grabbed my arm and made me drop the drink. Didn’t ruin my night tho cos’ the DJ was hitting hard and I stuck my fingers in her drink cos’ I’m a petty man.

Think Long Island dance club… but in Bushwick. The drinks are stupid cheap and they have a fog machine. This is that place you’ve driven or taken the train by a countless number of times but never dared to venture into. It’s worth the trek, and you’ll probably meet a few interesting locals if you get there before they crank up the fog. If you get there after they crank up the fog you’re either(a) already drunk or(b) about to get grinded on by dancers that seemingly have crept up out of the mist. Good place to pre-game before heading into the city.

My favorite dance club in Brooklyn, hands down. And by favorite, I mean one of the few in Brooklyn I’ve been to. And by dance club, I mean more of an area of space where creepy people congregate. But, having said that, I had a blast here. I suggest pre-gaming a bit before you get here though, because the crowds can definitely be sketch. However, once you’re a few shots in, I swear you’ll have an amazing time. There’s a pretty large dance floor, with a more lounge-y area in the back. Thing is, the lounge area is super bright for some reason, and really does a good job at trying to blind you. Also, I’m pretty sure there was a mist machine, cause I recall walking around in a smoky haze. Either that, or I was just super trashed. Eh. Anyways, we danced our asses off all night, and met a bunch of cool people. Looking back at my pictures, there were definitely a few«WTF» moments though. BUTYOLORIGHT?
