It’s a library. It’s pretty dated, sure, but it also took a beating after Hurricane Sandy. It’s kind of a community staple in the programs it offers; the programs range from being custom tailored for kids, seniors and migrants trying to assimilate. I do all of my book reserving on the BPL site and pick them up here, sometimes it’s OK to study in the off-peak hours. Unfortunately, the noise level is fairly unenforced and there does not seem to be security present. The security would be a benefit because there are homeless folks who come and go and they tend to just make themselves very comfortable to the dismay of everyone else there.

Plenty of seating. Shelves are pretty stocked.

Compared to the Nostrand Avenue branch, this one bites the dust! The Library itself is small(measuring about 4,000 sq. ft.), to the point where individuals are literally on top of one another searching for the latest book releases. Checkout for books has a line of about 8 patrons on average. As for the noise level? Employees and security do not enforce this but rather allow individuals to speak on their cell phones while ignoring the obvious violation. I much preferred going to the Nostrand location on my younger days. This place simply wasn’t friendly to be in.
