The food is good but when you order oxtail with rice and cabbage there is barley no cabbage and too much rice and hardly no meat you pay too much money for that it’s like I’m paying for rice add more meat please. then your service will be good.

Horrible customer service, mediocre food. I honestly think the only reason they’re so popular is because there aren’t a lot of West Indians to critic it in the neighborhood. Funny enough I know they owners but that lack of customer service is ridiculous.

The only Jamaican restaurant in the neighborhood and the food doesn’t taste good. The rice is always dry and hard and the meats are not seasoned well. The food also lacks spice which is needed in Caribbean dishes not to mention that it’s overpriced.

I only gave this place one star because that’s the lowest available. I frequent this place because I live in the area and I enjoy West Indian meals. I called here yesterday to place an order for delivery and the guy who answered the phone was very rude. He had a disgusting attitude and kept cutting me off when I asked him questions. Every time I call this place or order there’s always a problem. The delivery takes about an hour to get to me and the food is bland and cold. The owner of this establishment needs to properly train his employees on dealing with patrons. He just lost a customer. Not a good sign.

I want to like this place but something is missing. I ordered Jerk chicken but when I got home there was 0 heat. So I’m not sure if the chef forgot the seasonings that day or if I got stew chicken instead. The rice was also lacking flavor.

Great food but don’t every order delivery. I usually go there and pickup or eat at the restaurant but ordered delivery for the first time and it’s been over an hour and I still haven’t received it. Horrible delivery service but great food. Would have gave it 5 stars if delivery was faster.

As a Jamaican in NYC, I’m very excited to find a Jamaican restaurant that sells good food, has good service, has everything advertised on the menu available, and meets you without a sour face. And for a cherry on top, a few tables to dine in and a clean restroom. Highly recommended. Great food 5 star oxtail 5 star roti(minus bones) 5 star barbecue chicken for the kid. And don’t forget to ask for the homemade hot sauce. Excellent!

Pass on the delivery service… Get off your ass and take a walk down myrtle. The food is amazing… My go to is the chicken curry, which is great. The jerk chicken is also very good. The roti is enormous… Ask for the homemade hot sauce is you like a little kick. Depending on the season it cold be red, orange, yellow or green but it’s always potent and delicious. The girls at the counter often leave something to be desired… I always wait for Michael, the owner, lest I get a fake nail or eyelash in my curry but all in all, buff patty is on my dinner rotation!

Ya mon! I haven’t tasted ginger beer this sharp since I was in Barbados.(FYI: this one is not carbonated but its still a refreshing alternative to soda for those of you trying to scale back.) Pair it with a veggie patty and you’re set. Also a great spot for #teamvegan if you’re tired of the frou-frou scene. I recommend the sea moss here. My sister got it and I swiped some. Its a smooth soy milk based beverage lightly sweetened. Sea moss makes it sound grosser than it is, but give it a try before you knock it.

Good food, very good food. I’m used to the substandard west indian food which is predominant in Jersey and the local Golden Crust. Definitely everything was prepared home made. Cow foot soup was very good, the taste of sweet corn stuck out the most and the cow foot was very soft and jelly like. The beef patty was home made, would have been nice if there was more beef and some salt or seasoning. Also had the ox tail, what stood out for me the most was the rice and peas. It’s so key for a restaurant to do well something that many might over look. Like I’ve addressed many times over, how can you f– up fries when it’s the easiest thing you can make. The rice and peas were well cooked, flavorful and most importantly well seasoned. I don’t have to get into the ox tail because you know it had to taste amazing if they put that much detail into the rice and peas. The cabbage was well cooked and well seasoned again. Jerk wings were well seasoned but not over seasoned. Many places tend to over season wings or over sauce them. They definitely understand food because they seasoned it just right to allow the taste of chicken to stand out as well. Could have been a little more spicier for my pallet. I know there are more west indian places in Brooklyn, go figure. However I was impressed with their execution of their craft. Definitely will go back.

I’ve ordered from this place for delivery twice. The first time me and my boyfriend ordered over $ 30 in food. The person who took the order was horrendous. She didn’t want to repeat what I told her we wanted and when she did repeat it, she was actually missing something from the order. Then telling her the address, she couldn’t seem to understand what I was telling her and I had to repeat it several times. Also when I told her to separate an order of curry goat and roti, she was very annoyed by it. When the delivery guy came to drop the food off, even he was annoyed when he realized we didn’t know the price of the food and had to call the restaurant to find out how much we had to pay him. He even mentioned that this happens all the time. I was happy that at least most of the food was good even though we were not completely happy with the mac and cheese. In an attempt to give the restaurant another chance, today my boyfriend and I ordered yet again. We made an order of over $ 20 and the woman seemed to be having a difficult time in calculating how much it was(since this time we asked how much the order was). We then again asked for a curry goat roti and for it to be separated and this time was told there would be $ 1!!! additional charge to separate it. Who the hell charges an additional charge because you want your food separated? Their customer service(at least over the phone) is terrible. As much as we like a few dishes on their menu, I will never order from them again. They need to get their act together and act like they are serving people and not animals. It most certainly is not how you treat people who are supporting your business. Update: Waited an hour and 20 minutes for food and half the food was cold. And there were carrots and broccoli cooked down in my curry which was not in it before.

Stingy. If you like a lot of rice, and little of the protein/main food you order, especially oxtail order here. Sooooo happy that in the next couple of weeks, I’ll be moving closer to Crown Heights where you don’t have this problem. There’s enough competition that the restaurants there no better than to cheat their customers. I ordered a small and got 4 small pieces of oxtail, with a whole bunch of rice…

Great Customer Service. Great Food. Clean place to dine in. Beef patties– are always hot and fresh Jerk chicken — need i say more, simply the best. Fresh spicy and give me white meat! The rice is almost always good. Expect when they don’t cook the beans fully… The cabbage is fresh crunchy delicious. Wish they gave me more of a portion …

I had take out from here on Friday 10/24/2014,my boyfriend got there at 9:38pm, they close at 10pm, I said to myself oh no, the food will be cold and they probably will give me and him the scraps that’s been, hanging around all day, I wanted curry shrimp it was finish, so I got the curry goat and peas and rice with steam cabbage and sweet plantains, my boyfriend had the steam king fish with peas and rice steam cabbage with sweet plantains, I must say the plantains was a bit hard and taste like they was fried to hard, but the rest of the food was delicious, I would recommend this place and I will be eating here again, I want to try the curry shrimp… and their Roti

i’m torn about the number of stars to award buff patty, because on one hand I really love their chicken patties — I mean, they are delicious. The crust is whitish, making me believe they don’t put food coloring, which is typically added to patties to give it that golden crust(note this does not apply to their beef patties). The chicken is savory and tastes delicious. I normally order two and eat them right away. This will normally carry me through lunch and dinner and the price can’t be beat for the value. The reason for my wanting to give this place lower stars is because whenever I eat these patties I inexplicably break out on my face and my eye swells up! I have no idea what they put in these things but I have to swear them off because something in it is simply not good for my body.(is it msg?(that would explain the addictive taste) is there something wrong with the meat? Is it the wheat, shortening or dye? I dunno — all I know is that I’ve done the testing by making sure every thing else is constant in my diet while eating these patties yet I still break out on my left cheek after consuming them and my eye goes bonkers. Besides the patties, I’ve had a fish dinner and substituted out the rice and peas for cabbage. It was decent but not spectacular. It was also not hot. My boyfriend got their chicken curry and rice and peas and wasn’t impressed either. The final reason for the low stars is because I once inquired about the nutritional content of my chicken patty and was told they were only 250 calories by the server. Yah, that’s probably inaccurate. Most people think patties are healthy and light meals(they can be if you just have one and leave out the hardo bread) but one patty(even chicken) is at least around 350 calories — so minus a star for misinforming customers.

I like this place, considering they have spinach patties and a decent assortment of drinks I like(ting!) but I haven’t tried one of their entrees. The folks who were here were friendly enough and there’s also not a ton of seating(tip: it’s better to eat in Ft. Greene park anyways). I’m looking forward to trying more of their menu.

I haven’t had as good a beef patty since they closed the Mom & Pop shop I used to go to on Boston Post Rd. in the Bronx back in the late 90s. It’s been a long time my little beef patty/coca bread. C’mere you! I also really enjoyed the counter staff. So refreshing to not encounter the lackadaisical service you get at every Golden Krust I’ve ever stepped foot into. Like they’re doing you a favor by giving you a blank stare. I was short on hard currency and was happily told that they take cards even for my small amount. So happy, I padded my order out with an additional patty and their own Buff Patty brand of Sorrel. It was my first time drinking sorrel juice. I basically got it for the ginger, which was nice. The sorrel… Nope. Not for me. Halfway through it was starting to taste like medicine and make me sweat. Maybe that was it working on me! It’s a narrow shop but it’s organized and quick with a small seating area in the front. And did I mention friendly??? I will make a point to come back.

After reading the reviews here, and seeing that this place was 2 blocks from my current residence, *and* considering Jamaican beef patties are some of my favorite foods, I was super excited to try this place out. Finally! An authentic beef patty! Not Golden Krust. Not the frozen Thousand Isle patties that I buy by the dozen at the grocery store when no other beef patty options are available. Well, I’m sad to report that the beef patties here really aren’t that good at all. The outside is mushy and soggy, not flakey. The filling has far too much pepper(and this is coming from someone who puts ridiculous amounts of pepper on pretty much *everything*) Although I’m usually not a big fan of over-filled beef patties(I much prefer the dough to meat ratio to be proportionate in a way that neither one is overpowering), still I found less filling than I’ve seen in any other patty — including Golden Krust, and even Tower Isles. For some reason, the photo I took makes it look far more filled than it actually is. And, although I’m not a connoisseur in the ways that beef patties are made exactly(not sure if they’re fried or baked) they almost taste like they were over-baked. The overall product tasting dry. I think my biggest complaint is that the beef patty was sweet. I couldn’t tell if it was the meat or the dough, but it didn’t mesh well with the large amounts of pepper. And quite honestly, when I’m craving something sweet-tasting, beef is the last thing on my mind. The price was decent, I believe around $ 1.65 per patty + tax, but I honestly don’t find it worth it. And contrary to what another reviewer stated, the staff here is *incredibly* sweet and helpful. I actually really, really want to like this place. So much so, that I’ll probably be back to try something else on the menu in an attempt to increase my rating.

I work by Buff Patty’s. I love the chicken patties! They are surprisingly spicy and very flavorful. The chicken soup is excellent! Very hearty. Get a medium and you’re good to go. The soup has corn on the cob, carrots, potatoes, flour dumplings and yummy herbs. The shrimp patty is also tasty. I tried the fish patty once because that was all they had and it was terrible! The flour is also different, but I forget what it was made of. I also had the oxtail once, but it was pricy. I think the best deals here are the dumplings(not the shrimp one) and the soup. A nice, budget lunch.
