Had the pleasure to visit yesterday after dinner, needed nice dessert, what a perfect ending to fantasy dinner and a great find! This is a fantastic little bakery off the beaten path. Healthy does of hedonism and it’s good for you! They had phenomenal selections of gluten free goodies to meet your needs and delish breakfast cakes to take home for later. I am for sure coming back!!!

Some good n some bad days I guess. So I’m having people over for lunch and ordered 20 + of their famous canelé. That are all burned and does not taste good. I don’t know who made the batch but these are unacceptable! Very disappointed and so are my guests.

What a lovely little shop. Happened to be staying across the street during a recent trip to NYC and developed a habit of dropping in here for breakfast. We tried the quiche(broccoli), the egg and cheese croissant, and the chocolate croissant — everything was delicious, and the croissants were so flaky and buttery. It’s also very charmingly decorated. Highly recommended!

Very good chocolate almond croissant! Even without heating it, the pastry was crunchy and delicious.

Adorable, adorable, small bakery tucked away in Williamsburg. Been meaning to come here for a while and finally stopped by, mostly because they participate in the CUPS app. The best part of this bakery is the cute garden in the back where you can sip coffee, eat an éclair, and escape the city for a little bit. I love to come here on my lunch break, and enjoy the sunshine. I think the eclairs are a bit pricey at $ 5.50– but you gotta treat yourself sometimes! I ordered the Speculos flavor, with cookies bits on top. The dough was perfectly soft and you melt as delicious cream shoots out with your first bite. The caneles are inexpensive at $ 1.00 but not so tasty once they’ve cooled down. It was hard, tasteless and anti-climatic. In addition to eclairs and caneles they also offer, cakes/breads $ 2.50-$ 4.00, cream puffs $ 2.75, and many gluten-free options. And everything is made right in the back! Next time I’m coming back for their cream puffs. Bonus: FREE WiFi!

My wife’s cousin is visiting from France, so «the boss» gave me the assignment of taking him sightseeing. He was complaining how his son grew a beard and is now a Bohemian, and I instantly got the idea of taking him to Williamsburg. We got off the L at Lorimer and stopped in for some Mexican food(see today’s other review), took a walk down to the pier, and after a 20 minute debate about whether the building he was snapping photos of was the Freedom Tower, we were thirsty enough to hunt down some cappuccino. I have not been to this area in many, many years, and it does not resemble in the slightest the Williamsburg I remember. Today, it reminds me very much of Riverwalk, the plastic-and styrofoam tourist trap complete with artificial river, in San Antonio TX. On one of the tourist-clogged, er, newly-arrived-Brooklyn-resident-clogged streets, one finds this café, which, like seemingly every wine bar, restaurant, bar and café in the area, is tiny, and filled with bearded bohemians and rheir bespectacled better halves. Eventually, I guess I have to talk about the capuccino. It was pretry good. We did not try the pastries, cause this dude is from France and has lived there his whole life. And with all the bad things in the world, like terrorism, menstruation and New Jersey, the last thing people need is to travel a very long distance to get something they could get at home. I wouldn’t go to Mongolia to get bagels, and French dudes should not come to New York for eclairs. There is a rising sun motif decorating the shopping bags and signs in the store, so I got the impression the Owner may be originally from Japan. I’ll be back sometime to find out.

The guy who’s working there is super friendly and welcoming. But their mini choux cream made by meringue were not so good. They were very, very sweet. The meringue parts tasted all the same; what differed were the top part where they had creams or chocolates or other stuffs. I was more convinced that I hate meringue. I had cappuccino, roast coconut, pistachio, and chocolate. I didn’t know that the cappuccino and coconut ones were meringue based; otherwise, I wouldn’t order them. The coffee cream has strong cappuccino flavor, but too sweet. The roast coconut was made with thin chocolate flakes and was delicious. But the overall thing was overly sweet. The pistachio and chocolate ones were normal choux(but they do have a chocolate flavor with meringue as the choux body). They both were rich in flavor, but I just prefer the chocolate. The pistachio cream was a little thick to me. I was really excited before I came here, but I left with disappointment. I hope their éclair a and other bakeries and pastries are good and I may have a try next time, if I happen to pass by.

Pastries are tasty. Expensive though. 2.75 $ for a chou or cream puff(8 $ for 3) 5, ~ something for a single éclair(ouch…) Nice selection of gluten free pastries. There’s a 8 $ formula that includes a capuccino(with cute latte art) and 2 little pastries, which is perfect to make your mind about it. The place is nice, with books you can borrow. Place was peacefull and quiet, which was nice after a shooping marathon. Only downside: the bench was kinda bent and it wasn’t super comfy. About the pastries : — Pistachio, and Praline(sort of Paris-Brest cake !!!), were super tasty & amazing — Coconut was a dream, very light: a sugar cloud — Praline(gluten free): excellent idea, but a little less interesting for my taste — but I’m not gluten intolerant so I guess I’m neither the target nor the best judge to compare with other gluten free pastries.

Wonderfully cute place for desserts and coffees. We stopped by before dinner to buy some cream puffs for a friend and was enticed by their offerings from eclairs to caffeines. Too bad we went on a cold day so we didn’t get to hang out in the backyard. The pastries are wonderfully made and you can see the efforts put into each of them. Don’t be surprised that the price paid is a little higher than usual. The craftsmanship is shown and it’ll be worth it. We had the Earl Grey éclair in-house and loved the texture, amazing earl grey, and just the right amount of sweet. For the to go pile, we had 5 different types and enjoyed most of them. The only that stood out, that we didn’t like, was the lemon tart puff. This is what Williamsburg is all about; high end, small business, cute atmosphere, an self-made craftsmanship.

Really sweet little coffee shop with hidden back patio in the middle of WillyB. Good coffee and delicious treats! The coconut meringue was UNREAL! I especially love the back patio seating area covered in greenery and away from the traffic of pedestrians. Staff was really sweet and patient while we decided our order. Definitely recommend if your in the area looking for a quick coffee break!

This is by far the cutest dang place with delicious pastries and drinks! The staff were so nice and she was very patient with us with our questions about the fantastic array of pastries. There is a «secret» garden in the back where there’s a huge communal table to chill and hang with some of your friends. Don’t go to the crowded«mainstream»(HAH) «hipster» Toby’s estate. I tried the meringues and they’re amazing! It really is like eating a cloud — if I were to eat a cloud… I would choose the meringue over the cream puff. The matcha and dirty chai iced were equally delicious. The vibe at Caprices is almost a short sweet escape from the bustling city-life. Definitely come by and visit!

Williamsburg at its best! This place is cute to the wazoo. Gorgeous, gorgeous small garden at the back. Very relaxing to sit back, enjoy the summer breeze, and quietly savor the desserts — far from the madding crowds at Smorgasburg. I liked the eclairs a lot. More so than the bakery that has éclair in its name. Excellent texture and flavorful filling. Try the offbeat flavors such as Orange Blossom that is not only a pretty color, but really light and refreshing as well. My friend was insisting that we try the traditional coffee éclair, and determined not to like the Orange blossom, couldn’t resist its charms. They’ve brought together the concept very well: aesthetically appealing, texturally correct, and perfect proportions. 4.5 stars.

Delicious cream puffs and meringues! So many flavors to choose from and you really get each flavor note in every bite that you take. They certainly don’t skimp on the flavors here. Though the salted caramel could be a bit more«salty», it was by far my favorite. The lemon curd puff was prominent and delicious, as was the matcha, and the vanilla bean puffs. The meringues were light and had the perfect amount of filling. The texture of the cream filling was smooth and almost airy. They are all made so beautifully well I was sad when we devoured them little by little. Definitely the perfect little bite if you’re craving something sweet and would also make a great gift!

Great cream puffs! I do normally enjoy my cream puffs/profiteroles basic… i.e. custard/whip blend or custard and whip layer in a well-made shell… but Caprices by Sophie is an exception. The desserts here are uniquely beautiful in appearance and tasty. I give the«lemon curd» cream puffs 4 stars. I give the salted caramel one a 3.5 as it was a little on the sweet side. Unfortunately, the Americano I had was weak and tasted watered down. The chocolate chip cookie was nice and moist, but again, ran a little sweet. Caprices By Sophie also had caneles for sale as well… for only $ 1 a piece. The only drawback is that they looked a little deflated… Something must be off with the recipe or how they’re cooled. I can’t speak for how they taste as I judged them by their appearance. All in all though, I’d bring my friends to check it out! Tips: Garden dining area! Perfect for warm weather or groups! If you like the flavor of lemons, try the«lemon curd» cream puff. There is an espresso and pastry special — for $ 8, you can have an espresso and 2 pastries! I missed this and ordered everything a la carte :(sad times.

Didn’t check out the garden, because there were a very awkward vibe with just me and the one female staffer behind the counter during my brief visit, especially after I asked about the pink praline, about which she was clueless, so she went to the back and asked, and returned with a cryptic non-answer. Went to check in with Perka and was informed it was for drinks only. Speculoos Merveilleux(Price 1) for $ 2.75 was a tasty ball of sweetness, but an unsustainable indulgence just like O Merveilleux on the UES. Eclairs and choux didn’t call to me. Caneles were atop the display in a container implying they were to sample, but had a price tag in small font next to them.

My favorite spot to take anyone for desserts. The owner is a doll, she treats all her costumers with incredible warmth and answers any question you might have about her gorgeous pasteries. When I say gorgeous, I mean they can be mistaken for jewels. As a person who loves to bake, presentation really is everything. From the pastries, to the fairy lights, to the beautiful garden in the back, this is really a neighborhood gem that I want to see stick around. The choux pastries and the cream filled meringues are my favorite. If you are a lemon fan then you need to have the lemon curd choux, is tangy and really the perfect treat. Also, caramel meringues are also not only unique but make a perfect gift so someone who likes interesting desserts. I love coming here in the winter or summer and getting my fill of desserts. As for those who love packaging as much as I do, caprices also has the most lovely gift boxes and bags. It’s the little things that matter.
