Cemi Café is a quirky, friendly crossroads of the world: the owners are ethnic Albanians from Montenegro, the lead cook/chef is from Ecuador, the grilled meat was seasoned with a spice mix from Croatia, and our waitress was from Kazakhstan. I dined with a Slovene, and drank(not-terribly-exotic) beer from The Netherlands. What more could you ask for? The food isn’t amazing, but it’s pretty solid. I didn’t try any of the Italian items, but the Balkan/Albanian/Montenegrin food was good – not the best burek and cevapi I’ve ever eaten, but it was all pretty decent. Not necessarily worth a special trip to Kensington, but it’s a pretty decent hangout if you’re already in the area.

i used to get burek here in its old incarnation. it’s much sleeker now except for when the albanian boys have networking nights.(euphemistic for total inebriation.) the burek is still good. i’ll try the pasul next time and pleskavica. 3.79 stars
