Daniela’s Cafe

This is a charming little place tucked away in the corner of an ethnic contact neighborhood in Borough Park. Best part — the restaurant is co-​located with a laundromat! Suds and pupusas all day! Don’t be fooled by the Mexican flag and heavily advertised Mexican food out front, Daniela’s has some excellent Salvadorian pupusas. My partner was less than impressed with the cheese and pork pupusas, but my vegetarian inclinations were rewarded with bean and cheese pupusas nicely accompanied by a sauce and pickled cabbage. Give the place a shot and… don’t forget your laundry bag!

My brother and I were really in the mood for some tacos today, so we decided to head on over to the Taco el Bronco truck. Sadly, the truck wasn’t there so we decided to try out this place instead since it was nearby.
2.50 $ each taco, burrito $ 7 with fries it’s $ 8. Not bad.
I ordered 3 tacos: chorizo, carne asada and a carinta. I really wanted to try their lengue, but they were out.
Chorizo: it was okay, probably wouldn’t order it again
Carne asada: good amount of flavor, but they over cooked the beef to the point it was quite chewy.
Carinta: the pork was pretty moist! But I was hoping for a little more flavor.
Not that impressed, but it still filled me up. I probably wouldn’t stop by for the tacos again. Although they are bigger than the ones Taco el Bronco serves.
The burrito was pretty big, however my brother wasn’t a fan of it. The meat was overcooked and the rice was too bland.
Lastly, the service… it was pretty slow when we got there, 2 people were already sitting down eating. We placed our order to go. I thought it should only take about 15 minutes since we were the only left to order but didn’t get our food til about 35 minutes later. While we waited they served 2 other customers that came in after us who ended up getting their food before us. That just isn’t right.
Not pleased with the service here and the food overall is mediocre. Food is cheap but I won’t be stopping by this establishment again.

Daniela’s has a warm, homey feel despite its location in the corner of a laundromat. Or rather it had such a feel; now there’s a TV blaring Spanish soap operas and yap shows constantly. Plus the young men behind the counter are pretty icy and, when Daniela herself isn’t there, the welcoming vibe is gone. So despite the amazing huevos rancheros I think I’m done there. Lose the TV and I’ll be back. Thanks!

I ordered a spam and egg sausage from here. TBH, I think that it is way to expensive. I can buy the same sandwich for less on the upper east side. Also, it seems like they’re holding back on their eggs.

This place is the best kept secret of the Central American community in Borough park/​Sunset park. It was recommended by a Ecuadorian acquaintance. This place is inside Best Wash laundromat. The Pupusa are amazing and try also have a juice bar. The ladies don’t speak much English, but they are so sweet and accommodating. They also have tacos, soups and sandwiches. Food mostly Central American and Mexican.

I ordered one papusa with frijoles and one chicharron papusa. The papusas were fried right after I ordered — I was starving, but luckily I didn’t have to wait long. I’m not an expert on papusas, but these were delicious and not too greasy. I didn’t get any with queso because I’m lactose intolerant but they’re probably even better with cheese oozing out of fried corn meal, crispy on the outside and soft inside… The papusas also came with a tasty tomato-​based sauce and coleslaw that was just how I like it, with vinegar instead of mayonnaise.
I do my laundry every week in the laundromat attached to the café, so I know where I’ll eat next time I wash my clothes!

I come here for the fries! This little mom and pop restaurant attached to a laudromat offers the best fries in nyc thus far. I am not a big fan of the rest of the menu, but I go there for the fries
