Love this place! Great fresh smoothies juices and tea blends– everything tastes natural. Located really close to my gym and it makes a great post workout stop

Horrible service, headache inducing ambiance, steep prices, topped off by a weird«no pork» policy that ruins items like Eggs Benedict. There are so many other options in Bay Ridge for cafes. Absolutely a total miss with this one. An UN-welcomed addition to the neighborhood.

I’ve noticed that only certain staff members make good drinks. Even the coffee! lol I give them 4 stars because of those certain staff members. I don’t really know their names thou.

Unprofessional staff. Ordered a coffee that ended up tasting like it was left out for hours with a tint flavor of burnt plastic. Gave it another shot and ordered a strawberry & banana smoothie that was picked up from under the counter. Where was it being stored? who knows.

Found this place by looking through what else is good around 86th street, didn’t want to go to Mocha Coffee or DD or my usual place I frequent *starbucks* and plus I wanted something«healthy» before and after a workout so I’m glad I found Cocoa Grinder! Can’t believe I pass by and don’t notice it because of the large sign of the pizza place next to it. The cheese Danish crossiant was great and yummy! Strawberry/banana smoothie was good too, nice color! Ultimate… smoothie was okay– too sour for my liking. I don’t mind the staff not smiling long as my order is served right and not held up there. They do smile lol It can get a bit expensive so 4-stars.

They know their coffee. Ordered a cortado and it was perfect. Best one I’ve had in awhile. I even heard the barista explaining it to another patron who was curious when I picked mine up – explanation was spot on. Their cold brew was balanced – not to acidy, not too weak, and no sugar needed. Ordered the flatbread with goat cheese and honey. For me, it was absolutely perfect. The flatbread was soft but had a good crunch on the edge, and the goat cheese was mild and the honey wasn’t overly sweet. My friend had the same and thought there was too much goat cheese, but I say, it’s better to be overwhelmed than underwhelmed.

This place is awesome! Always fresh juices, and staff is very friendly. This location stopped serving wraps though, and recently added a salad bar. I will be sure to try that soon! Would also recommend putting a menu up on the huge wall to the right when you walk in.

This place is a great addition to the neighborhood! All of their food, smoothies and juices are great. But the service is a nightmare. I know they are new so I’m hoping they iron out those kinks. My order has been wrong every. Single. Time. This morning it took me 24 minutes to walk out the door with a smoothie and an espresso. However, I’m still not sure what they put in it. Like I said, hoping to work out the kinks. Loved seeing that the owner is a young man of color. The décor is awesome!

Finally something«hip» in Bay Ridge! Yay! The décor of this place is gorge! Well done! I just a have just two little things that I noticed that would be every more awesome! How about a menu on the wall? I would love if the counter person would pay better attention and possibly be a bit more friendlier. Also, yay to vegetarian and vegan options! Thank you!

Industrial glass windows from ceiling to ground; exposed pipes and brick wall; wood slab tables; and a juice bar. All signs of hipster invasion. Although the café offers a breath of fresh air to the neighborhood, nothing about it really stands out that makes me want to come back for more. They have a lot of overpriced sandwiches but if you’re in this neighborhood, there are so many other things to eat other than sandwiches. I suppose it’s a good sit down spot to grab a cup of coffee. I can’t vouch for their coffee as I haven’t tried it yet but their juices are just ok. Sure, all juices are freshly made and they come in cute little mason jars. But it’s not all that amazing..

I decided to try this coffee this afternoon after some shopping with my boy. Great coffee and avocado toast! The staff is very friendly and helpful. Another good thing is that they have wifi. The only complaint is the cleanliness of the bathroom. The bathroom is not all bad though. They have a changing station.

Love this place I usually get fresh juices and they have a lot of choices to get and they keep the fruits in the fridge so the drink is cold but if you want it colder you have the choice of adding ice, highly recommended this place!

The coffee was undrinkable. Tasted like burnt plastic. I realize I might be a bit of a coffee snob but I appreciate a quick drip cup of coffee just like the next person. I too was brought in by the placard and positive Unilocal reviews. The staff was nice and I’m sure the juices are fine but I threw my coffee out after 2 sips(the second was just to be sure I wasn’t crazy).

Absolutely the WORST cup of coffee I EVER had… My wife and I responded to a placard on the sidewalk, promising all kinds of great coffees, so we went in to try it out. This place looks to be primarily a juice bar — cant speak to that fare, because we didn’t try it. Maybe they should stick to juicing, because the coffee — well — it sucked. The clue was the complete lack of aroma — that should have tipped us off. My wife got a simple cappuccino — I got an Americano. Both were tasteless. Don’t go to this place for coffee — you will be disappointed!

The place is super tiny, though there are a few bar seats. Don’t think you’re going to hang out here and work, not only is it cramped but the wifi is horrible. Nevertheless, there is a great variety of healthy meals, snacks, smoothies, and fresh juices. I like the options offered and the fact that you can create your own. Thank you can also purchase granola bars and bottled juice. I love the protein choices– vegan, natural whey, and more. There are good add-ins too(spirulina, moringa), but the employees don’t always know the uses. Tip for the owner– train your staff a little bit better or at least have a cheat sheet behind the counter. The coffee is decent. Perk– best punch card for coffee or smoothies around– only 6 and the next is free! Definitely worth a stop for a quick energy boost or healthy reset.

Stopped in today for a couple lattes. It was my first visit and I’m happy to say I’ll be coming back. Service: prompt, helpful and friendly. It was chilly out and they let us bring our dog in for a couple minutes to warm up. The barista gave me a menu to help us decide what to order. Prices: very fair! Two large flavored lattes with soy milk came out to less than $ 10 and that’s a win in my book! Venue: okay, yeah, it’s small, but there is some seating and the décor has a classic and rustic sort of feel. The place was also really clean. Products: the lattes were great(albeit a little too sweet). As the weather warms, I look forward to trying some of their fresh smoothies.

Love their sweet green machine juice! It’s a hidden little coffee health shop around the corner of 86th street. It can be hard to spot but they sell great wraps and protein shakes. Plus they do stamps!

Cocoa grinder is a tiny, hole-in-the-wall health food joint right off the 86th street shopping district on fourth avenue and 86th street. This place is exactly what I would’ve wanted, way back when I worked in this area. They carry soy milk AND almond milk(huge plus in my book) though they do not carry avocados. Apparently avocado doesn’t do well in this location — go figure. The place is tiny, so it’s really mainly for ordering out but there is a narrow bar alongside the wall with 3 high chairs and very little elbow room for anything else except to enjoy a smoothie or a muffin and window watch. The counter person seems extremely indifferent but she made my smoothie well and wished me a nice day so I’m not deducting any stars for lack of zeal. All in all this is a good smoothie joint with health fare like eggs, fresh juices, protein shakes, wraps and paninis, in addition to an array of assorted baked goods like raisin bran, chocolate chip and banana nut muffins. This shall be my go to lunch spot when in shopping sprees in the area.

Healthy, tasty and convenient? That’s the thinking behind Cocoa Grinder’s juice/smoothie bar and healthy food concept in Bay Ridge(86th&4th shopping area), and after having been here several times, it’s my go-to for my smoothie, or coffee fix(no, sorry I’m not into protein shakes X/) when I’m not on a Starbucks-fueled binge. I’ve long sought after a juice bar within walking distance of the subway. Now that it’s available, I can grab-and-go eat/drink to complete my errands fast. Perfect for those always Oscar-Mike(On-the-Move)! Long walks down 3rd/70s to Nature’s Grill and Fuel Energy are a thing of the past(Too far). Open nary 3 months ago, heralded by founder Abdul who himself is very health-conscious. They keep it simple… Breakfast and lunch. Sure, you can make do with plenty of tasty choices like McDonald’s, etc., drop $ 5 and walk out seemingly a winner, but as with all things, you get what you pay for. For a dollar more I can eat healthier… and yes, it’s just as tasty. Plus: Breakfast available anytime, day or night. Omelette, french toast, pancakes… winnn! Don’t get me started about coffee. Besides Dunkin’, Starbucks, and Monaco(Bakery), I like Cocoa Grinder’s Italian dark roast blend too. Prices for coffee/espressos, etc. are on-par with the nabe as is the baked goods, which are standard fare: croissants, bagels, muffins, and cookies when you’re fiend-ing for a snack… but yes, they make a mean wrap/panini too. There’s seating for 3 inside and a counter outside. If you have complex nutritional requirements, they’ve definitely got something for you. That’s ultimately important enough for me to stomach. Because of the tight location, it’s overall a 4.5
