If I’m drinking in Park Slope this is the bar. There is no competition. Amazing jukebox, great staff and owners, fantastic backyard, free popcorn, and Galaga! Real character and pride in being an excellent bar.

Cool bar, very friendly staff, awesome décor. And free popcorn? WHAT!!! The theme of the bar is «Kentucky» so I was a little nervous it was gonna be a country music joint with Dukes of Hazard playing on video non-stop and rebel flags adorning the place. None of that, whew! Great, non-attitudinal vibe.

Great atmosphere. A bit pricey on their drafts(specifically, domestic Yuengling and wine). Great outdoor area in the back. They need to open the window curtains!

Continuing the drinking here, I like this place because it’s pretty no frills, laid back bar with a good amount of taps, a lot of good whiskeys and free popcorn. We showed up before things really kicked off so I was happy that we could get seats right at the bar and I got to drink beer get popcorn-a bunch of free seasonings! Oh and the jukebox is one of those CD ones where it seems like every selection is a burned copy off of someone’s old CD collection. A relaxed place where I could carry on a conversation really not bad at all.

Trashy Brooklyn bars like this are the reason I rarely venture out of Manhattan. The atmosphere itself was fine, but the service is horrible. My boyfriend was in the middle of settling his tab while simultaneously speaking to another friend in our group and rather than wait until he was done finalizing his bill(he rounded up the total to even out what his card would be charged), but wasn’t done with the transaction when Victoria, the bartender on duty accosted him about the size of the tip he left on the card in a threatening manner. Where is that kind of behavior appropriate? And on top of it, she had three other customers who were present leave transparent fake Unilocal reviews(Mike C., Paul H. and Joseph D.) on the date of the incident praising her service(two of them were so horribly obvious as being fake because all they do is talk about her immediately and refer to nothing else about the establishment. And for two of them, their only Unilocal review is for here!) Gentrification needs to come a lot more swiftly to Brooklyn so standards can come up to par and Victoria needs a lot more training. Never again!

Victoria is the best bartender I’ve ever had. She’s attentive and knowledgeable and she makes the whole experience much more enjoyable. I’ve been here numerous nights and I’ll be here numerous more because of her.

Commonwealth is the best bar in my area. It’s definitely one of those bars where they know your name. Victoria is a great bartender. Attractive, attentive, and knowledgeable. Definitely one of the best bars in terms of service and atmosphere I’ve been to.

I love Commonwealth! Good atmosphere, personable bartenders, a great place to stop in and grab drinks quick or for the whole night. Awesome outside space as well with free wifi and plenty of outlets. Perfect for buckling down and working during the day. :) Fave surprise thing: Free popcorn!

Stopped by for some afterwork drinks, Good neighborhood dive bar, good selection of drafts, Cool outdoor seating area, self serve popcorn is a nice touch. Over all a good bar… besides of course the incredibly rude bartender.(We get it your cooler then all of us, you have tattoos and piercings and are a real bad ass) but correct me if i’m wrong a dive bar bartender should be friendly and inviting. Asking what you want to drink and following it «its ok I’m here until 8» and turning around when you don’t get an immediate response might not be the best way to get tips. But I’m sure he’s way too cool for tips too. I would go back if they found some friendly bartenders. But for now never again, just way too many bars in the area to be treated rudely.

Maybe 5 stars seems like a stretch for the neighbourhood dive bar, but I can’t really complain about a single thing here. It’s a convenient stumbling distance from my house, they have a decent cocktail list(though I stick to jameson & diets mostly, or jameson neat, keepin’ it simple you know …), the bartenders are all cute, friendly(but not fake nice), there’s ample chalk to scribble down your drunken brilliance on the bathroom walls, and a jukebox to jam to when conversation starts to wane. I’m not quite sure what the complaints are about hipsters or rude people in the crowd since everyone pretty much minds their own business /is pretty relaxed here, but maybe I just get lucky since I go on off-nights(not fridays/saturdays).

They discontinued their beer cheese, so. What’s the point? Solid points for a nice backyard(although you are pretty much guaranteed to trip on something, everyone does, even with one warning cone), popcorn, and cheap happy hour dark n’ stormies.

Definitely a neighborhood spot for the locals. There was more plaid in that place than the first 4 seasons of Family Matters. Drinks were great, about $ 7 a pop if I’m not mistaken. Free popcorn! Nothin’ wrong with that! I’d come back if I were passing through I suppose. Nothing remarkable to note.

This is a great bar! Nice cozy atmosphere and a friendly vibe. Cute backdoor area as well. Ryan and Riff are the best bartenders ever too. This place feels warm.

Came here for a reunion with some friends and had a great time! Reasonable drink prices and FREEPOPCORN! I absolutely LOVE this idea! We could not get enough — eating, laughing and seasoning! They also had board games and a pinball machine! I don’t remember much, just remember that it was fun and isn’t that all that matters? I’ll be visiting again veeery soon! :)

Free popcorn, free condoms, pinball, board games, and a backyard patio make this a great bar with some cool features. They also sell DUB pies if you get hungry for something other than popcorn. Sadly smoking is allowed in the patio and anytime I’ve gone it just reaks of smoke but if you’re a smoker it must be paradise. Drink prices are about average, most beers are $ 6 though they have a couple bottles and Yuengling on tap for $ 4.

As I age like fine, I have also become as lazy as they come. I enjoy traveling a maximum of a 10 block radius to get my drink on; however it was my friend’s birthday so I headed over to Park Slope and I’m so glad I did. We went on a Saturday afternoon and sat in the backyard. There’s a good number of tables outside and lots of magic inside. They have a delicious popcorn machine with several different seasoned salts for your liking(curry, old bay). They are fans of tagging in their bathrooms since the walls and door are all covered by slate. Here you can write all your drunken epiphanies for the day or just regress to your childhood self and write and/or draw profanities. When we first arrived, there was only 1 bartender and tons of folks there and he really held his own. Kudos to him for also making a kick a$$ rum punch. Apparently they just added it to their menu and hopefully they keep it. Love you Commonwealth. You’re my new Park Slope Boo. Don’t take that lightly.
