Bar super cute inside, has outdoor seating area in front and side which is cool. I was excited to try some food everyone was raving about here on Unilocal, however there was only 4 options on the menu, pretty disappointing.

A cute Brooklyn bar with great Sunday trivia. Definitely not a place to come out of your way to but fun when you’re in the neighborhood. I will definitely be back.

Relaxed place, friendly staff and clientele. Outdoor seating on the side street makes this a regular spot for me. Plus they have Bells Two-Hearted IPA on tap.

Alright. The ambience was okay here(decent music, crowded) but they served some of the worst cocktails I’ve had in the tri-state area to date. Went with two friends, and each of our cocktails was absolutely terrible. The drinks were extreme — no balance in flavor. Mine was supposed to be basil and some other flavors. It was straight basil juice — disgusting. Same with the other drinks — one pure ginger and another pure fruit juice. I don’t think we will go back, if I did I would order beer.

I am here for my BD with my Husband on a Thursday Afternoon. It’s quiet in here. Just what I was looking for today. A cozy quiet place to have a drink with my husband on my BD before getting back to my everyday life.

Straightforward, not divey, not fancy just a good place to have in your pocket. Good tunes usually playing. Decent enough beer selection. Summer time sidewalk seating. As Die Hard’s Hans Gruber would say«Hit it, again.»

Came here for a game night with friends. It was a pretty chill environment and the bartender was friendly. They have a good selection of beers and they even have a sour one which is cool because they are hard to find sometimes. The lighting is a little dark so it’s hard to see print for some people haha.

When I read that Skylark advertised itself as «look[ing] like your mom’s living room in the 1970s,» I didn’t realize they were speaking directly to me. I mean, there’s literally an oil painting and a paint-by-number hanging on the walls that were in my childhood home. And don’t try and be a smartass, because if you think my mom didn’t have a large bar in the middle of a simple two bedroom city apartment, well, you just pay her a visit, pull up a stool and wait for her to whip you up one of the greatest whiskey sours you’ll ever have. But I digress… the homey décor and chill, welcoming vibe is a large part of the charm of Skylark. The mix of bar space, regular tables and seats/couches is delightful and feels haphazard yet somehow perfectly natural. There is a pinball machine in the back, along with a large selection of board games for your drinking amusement. On Sunday night, they host an exceedingly fun trivia night run by Trivial Dispute — exciting, topical, interesting trivia(with numerous bonus free shot rounds). The beer and whiskey selection is generally excellent, and the prices are quite reasonable, especially for the area. The mixed drinks are a bit of a mixed bag — insofar as the Specialty Cocktail menu, the Old Fashioned is pretty solid, but the Bloody Mary a mess, overwhelmed by spices. Guillermo in particular is an excellent and charming bartender. Of course, when all else fails, you can just order yourself a $ 3 bottle of the Champagne of Beers, Miller High Life. The food is, well… if you’re hungry when here, I’d recommend, I don’t know… running down the block to the pizza place halfway down the block(despite serving food, they don’t seem to object to this practice). But as a place to while away the hours over a beer or a bourbon and coke, playing games with your friends, listening to great tunes… just feeling like you’re hanging out in your friend’s basement… it’s a pretty hard vibe to beat.

Great spot to grab a beer — good, local, dive bar, but the bloody mary was AWFUL.

A big group of us stumbled in here late into a night, and loved the homely welcoming feel. Not too busy, bar staff seemed like good dudes, music was good(but not too pumping) — just a cool place to sit and relax with friends and knock back a couple.

I came here on a Sunday night for drinks. It had a relaxed vibe. The music is not too loud so you can have a conversation. They had a cocktail menu and the prices are not bad. I had this drink with basil vodka, grapefruit juice, and a salt rim. The juice was freshly squeezed. I loved it. My friend had an old fashion and he liked it. I would return if in the area.

My wine tasted off. I told the bar tender I didn’t like it and ordered another drink. He still made me pay for the drink I didn’t like or want. Like other reviews, the bartenders are rude. They also smell like they’ve been working hard, making it easy to not order food.

The Skylark is a pretty average bar. Now if you want a super relaxing evening with some good music I’d highly recommend checking this place out. On average this place is pretty low key, last time I went there was a DJ, which was pretty cool. Drink prices are average, the staff is nice enough and they do have some bar food when you’re feeling drunk and hungry. Now it isn’t very crowded, I went on a Saturday night and we were one of the few groups in the bar. So if you’re looking to meet some new people this isn’t exactly the place to go. If you want to unwind and relax with friends this is the place to go though. I would say if you are in the neighborhood and are unsure of a spot to hangout, come here.

I had been going here regularly for about 3 months(a couple of times a week). I had felt the bartenders were a bit rude — but, what the hell, this is Brooklyn. Then, one night, a Sat. night, I had ordered several drinks, and then, finally, a chicken pesto sandwich — with another round of drinks. Half –way through the sandwich I had gone out for smoke. Before getting up, I placed my half full bottle over my $ 25.00 and a napkin over my drink — with my half eaten sandwich adjacent to my bottle. When I came back in, my sandwich was gone. I asked for the bartender, who seemed already to know, before I asked, about the sandwich — he described it as having one bite left. To make a simple story more simple — I told him it was the last time he’d ever see me again. His response was, «Good». Mind you, I tip $ 3.00 a drink. No problem — there are only 20 bars within three blocks. If you are over 40, this may not be the bar for you. Good luck, Skylark!

This may be my new favorite bar in Park Slope. Not only is it steps away from other sweet spots, but it’s got cheap drinks and nice bartenders. What more could you ask for? I’m a fan of the house cocktail(it was only $ 6) and am anxious to try the grub. Because no one can say no to a mac ‘n cheese sandwich.

I visited this place back in February 2014 on a very snowy day and I popped in here with a friend and fell in love with quaint inviting atmosphere, great seasonal beer selections perfect for the weather, and a small but great tasting food selection. Fast forward to September 2014 and I finally made it back to this bar hoping for more good food and beer. The seasonal beer selections are still great. The Southern Tier Pumking Ale is my favorite pumpkin brew. However, the kitchen is no longer available. They have a food menu that offers some [prepackaged] sandwiches that look good described on the menu but taste like something that you’d get from a vending machine. Don’t waste your time or money with these small appetizers unless you’ve sat there for a long time as some locals appear to do and you need to soak up some of the alcohol from the heavier beers. All in all it’s a nice kitschy place to come in a relax and have a drink, and the free wifi is a plus but they lost something special when they closed the kitchen down. *shrugs*. If I ever move to the area, I’m sure I’d pop back in, but I likely won’t make the effort to venture over there from my neighborhood to indulge this place.

We went wandering around on Sunday night hoping to find a place that was doing a weekend happy hour, and stopped at Skylark. I’d walked by it several times and had never been compelled to stop in, but the cheery blue tables and chairs outside were calling my name this weekend. A decent draft selection, a decent happy hour and a tasty Brooklyn Lager and pretzel combo(with pretzels in fun flavors like Everything and Cheddar Bacon), so what’s not to love? The service was attentive even though we were outside around the corner on the patio, and everyone was friendly. Skylark is a bit out of the way for me in a neighborhood chock full of good bars, but I’ll be making my way back here sooner rather than later.

Any bar that plays both Black Flag and Gillian Welch is cool by me. Skylark has the comfortable feel of hanging out in someone’s basement… complete with kitchen chairs that I swear my parent’s had in the 70’s. They have a really decent selection of beers on tap. The gin and lemon juice cocktail I also consumed was quite potent. To accompany our beers we had the corn bread with spiced honey butter, stuffed mushrooms, pickled vegetables, and shiitake hummus with black sesame crackers.(all food from Red Hook’s The Good Fork). Yea, I’ll be back. You can count on that.

Well, this is a big improvement from the bar that was in the space prior. It used to be an old man bar, that I only entered with the presence of a regular. It’s a nice space, with a decent sized bar and plenty of tables to sit at. The front windows open so we were able to get a cool breeze. I was there during the workday so there wasn’t a crowd. The décor was well conceived. It has the feeling of a 60s/70s basement, complete with tacky colors, mismatched furniture, and paint by numbers pictures on the wall. A lot of cute adornments like owls, funky clocks and those pictures that are lit up or fuzzy. There are two pinball machines in the back and the women’s room was clean enough. I like that they serve a wide price range of beers(on taps that have classic clear doorknobs as handles-maybe someone went shopping at Anthropologie for these.) starting at $ 3 for Genesee Cream Ale in a can. They had a brunch menu, all items around $ 10 and all from the Good Fork, but the food felt like it took nearly an hour to be served. Did they make it in Red Hook and walk it over? No one else was there. Not sure what the wait was about. The bartender was friendly and while there was no waitress service, if you placed your order at the bar they started a tap if they held your ID. There apparently would have been a charge if we wanted separate bills… not sure that’s customary. I don’t love the other bars in close proximity, so I will have to give this another chance but I think it probably bypasses the vibe of the others. Sort of like a cleaner, not smelly version of Welcome to the Johnsons.
