I really like this West Indian bakery I went here for my sins birthday cake and also treat myself to their sweet treats occasionally I like the location near eastern parkway the smell alone draws you right in !!! The cakes are delicious and prices are very reasonable they even do characters and special designs I would surely recommend them. I suggest the cake with coconut it’s amazing !!!

Came here on saturday expecting their best since its the weekend. I bought a few items, an elephant ear for myself and a chicken pie and beef patty for my spouse. I thought the elephant ear was just ok. Definitely not made with butter. Probably some tasteless shortening. As for the meat pastries my wife said she would give them a zero. She didnt even finish it. She had a few bites and threw it out saying that the pastry was coating her mouth. As a pastry chef, that is definitely a mark of cheap fat incorporated into the flour. I understand the need to keep cost low but this was dissapointing. I will keep traveling out the neighborhood and go to royal bakehouse or Golden place. I cant believe caribbean people think this junk is tasty. They need a new baker like yesterday.

ITHURTSMETOWRITETHISREVIEWBECAUSETHISIS A BAKERYTHATHASBEENAPARTOFMYENTIRECHILDHOOD. Every now and then I drop in to pick up a bake and saltfish. Well two days ago I went in and ordered and my experience was just horrible! I didn’t check my order until after I had left and gotten too far to go back. My first issue is that there are baked bakes and fried bakes at this location. The lady who prepared my order did not ask which would I prefer therefore I ended up having this big baked bake which was just doughy and not what i wanted and I was disappointed that the lady didn’t tell me of the options because bakes are fried. Secondly, she did, however, ask if I wanted pepper on my saltfish and I declined. Only to bite in and see that the saltfish was so heavy with pepper they were trying to mask something. Evidently the fish was sour. This is just poor service especially from a bakery that has been around for so long. Your staff will ruin your reputation. I think that it is time that I retire from being a customer here.

If there was a button for no stars I will give it to this place. I bought a birthday cake for my boyfriend today and it was nasty. The taste was horrible we had to throw it all out to the garbage, it totally ruin my surprise beacuse no one liked it. I used to buy cakes from this place years ago and it wasn’t like this, I moved so I stop buying cajes from there but today I made the mistake to go back, the worst $ 20 I ever spend. Definitely not buying a cake from there ever again.

Today I bought 2 beef patties(1chicken and 1 beef) from Conrad’s bakery and a loaf of bread. Absolutely no complaints only compliments for the bread. The reason for the 1 star. When my daughter and I bit into the patties the meat was sour. No, I mean sour. It was so bad that I have been so sick(committing and diarrhea) for the past 5 hours. I have had a Zantac, 2 pepto-bismol, 2 spoons of liquid antacid… nothing is helping. I called and told them that the patties were spoiled, and was told to bring them back for an exchange or refund. Never again, because all this indicates to me is poor food handling and food storage practices.

Come here all the time for my nice hot bread. It’s very affortable and delicious. The only downside is the line gets long sometimes but it can go fast. I also tried there salad bar which is very fresh and tasty.

Coming to conrads bakery for a while now. Didn’t know they were on Unilocal, might have been elite by now. The bread and pastries are always tasty. THE costumers service was great up to today, never saw these two ladies today but if Sunday is there day I would not come on Sunday’s no more.

Fantastic saltfish and fried bake if you get there early. Any time after 10am, the fried bake will probably start to cool and congeal, changing the taste, but when you get it fresh… heaven. Ask for pepper sauce. Don’t expect things to move quickly here, either!

This use to be my favorite place to buy my bread on a Saturday. Not anymore! I’m not sure if they’re onset new management or brand new staff but sadly I will not be going back there anymore. The black pudding was terrible. The bread was not done right. Nothing tasted the same. The brown skin lady had a very bad attitude. She was even rude to the other girl serving. They keep increasing the price on the breads. Come on now Conrad bakery flour is not expensive so what’s your reason for changing me a different price every time I buy bread. Is the price increase to pay for the new door.

This place has the best beef patties I’ve ever had. Really really home-made. Over West Indian Day Parade weekend, they starting selling these fluffy and flaky patties. I highly recommend them(only $ 2). I’ve never gotten the fried fish bake, but it looks delicious. Pastries and breads are good too.

I enjoy two bakeries in this area. I got to Tropical house for the patty’s. To be honest, they are so good there I haven’t hit up Conrad’s for the pattty’s. But what I love about Conrad’s is the Bake. Both fried and roast. Its amazing and there is usually a line on the weekends to get it and some meats/eggs sell out. Also they have a good roots & culture and lovers rock CD selection. 3 for $ 10.

Guava tarts/pastries! They are simply amazing! The current roll and fresh breads are also a delight! Their food is flavorful and wholesome! Usually when a business like this expands the food uses its zest… but they haven’t lost it one bit! The mornings can be a little crowded so get there early!

That was a d*** good(roasted) bake & saltfish. There was a good taste of coconut in the bake, and the portion of food for $ 3.25 was nice and filling. I’m actually upset because we decided against putting our children in a daycare center around the corner, so I won’t be able to enjoy this breakfast deliciousness on a daily basis. I started to deduct a star because there was a guy inside begging for money, and the inside isn’t big. I would’ve rather bought him a sandwich, but he wanted spare change.

This is the ONLY place I buy currants roll… anywhere else is a waste of time and money. I happened upon this place when i lived in crown heights back in ’02 and I have yet to find a place that tops this one in the pastry department. The cakes, breads, patties, etc are all made fresh in the back. The smell usually covers Utica(from the parkway to the Union street). I don’t know if they accept credit cards yet but cash is great as well. #1 Bakery in Brooklyn

I live down the street from Conrad’s so I am always passing by the place. One day I went in and got a beef patty and coco bread. It was delicious. You might wonder, why have I only given them a 3 star rating instead of higher, if I loved the food so much. Well its simple, 4 out of 5 times that I go into the place, they are always out of beef patties. Now I don’t go in when they first open or are getting ready to close. That would be understandable. I go in the afternoon. They should have them in stock or already in the oven, not telling me that they just don’t have any more. I would change my review if they upped their beef patty output, but until then, they only get a 3 star from me.

I thought I reviewed this already, I swore i did… but anyhow, the west indian pastries at this place will have you forgetting as well. It takes me back to childhood, growing up in the islands sinking my teeth into a warm currants roll or coconut drop. I have never had anything bad here, even their more inventive american style treats are still very tasty. I have friends in Atlanta that demand pastry every time I go to visit them, that should say enough!

I’m gonna hafta do a Conrad’s Vs. Silver Krust patty-off because they’re pretty darn close. Conrad’s has the best filling I’ve ever tasted, with a little secret something that takes it to a whole new level. And the crust is excellent, tender and flaky. My boyfriend got my birthday cake here, and while they were supposed to have made red velvet and somehow I got pineapple instead, the cake was moist and delicious and quite pretty. I“m looking forward to trying their other dishes.
