I was introduced to this place via a business meeting. The place was very clean and not crowded(always a plus). The seating is limited but cozy. I ordered the waffles with fruit. All was well. not bad at all, but then again. nothing that made me say«WOW, this is great». Good customer service and priced fair. If you’re unsure of where to go, this is a safe bet for your money.

A small hidden café in Park Slope that is wonderful! Downside: it’s so tiny! I believe only 5 tables. they have a delicious menu. So if it’s packed, you’ll have to wait 15 mins or so. The Bright Side: the wait is worth it. Eggs Benedict was great. So was my friends crepes although they went a little overboard with the syrup that crepes was almost swimming… Other than that, it’s a small cozy spot perfect for brunch with friends or a date.

Meh. Purely underwhelming. Chose this spot for my Friday Brunch. Ordered an omelet dish and 3 eggs over easy. Completely unimpressed and tasteless. Service is was mediocre at best. Took a while for us to be served. Coffee was good though. It’s a super small and tight space so it’s regularly packed. They did have this display case of really delicious looking pastries. I may go back to try those.

My wife & I regularly brunch here after a park walk for the unique baking goods, local popularity, lovely ambiance, great staff/service, open kitchen, buzz, and great location(for parking, ease of locating & safety). We regularly order the waffle breakfast specials, prefer fruit atop and 1 – 2 baked goods per their rotating latest baked goods. The staff is particularly happy, their attitude shows & rubs off on customers. Checkout is very fast with a variety of payment systems, I saw 1 of the many 2D barcode checkout systems there last time but don’t recall its name(not Square). Many come in for just carry away so the only 16 available seats usually only have a 20mn wait even at peak periods including weekend brunch. The bathroom in the rear half is very handy, nice as so many bakeries don’t have 1. We’ll be back in the springtime!

Cute little place to have a nice brunch. I ordered a croissant egg sandwich with ham and cheese and it was mouth watering. Especially the ham! Food came really fast as well. Would definitely come back again.

Clarifying my star rating: the food is a solid 5 but the service is a 4. We had brunch here on New Year’s Eve. The dining area only sits about 16 people. Upon arrival, you get intoxicated by the baked goods. I ordered the vegetable quiche which came with a garden salad. I added bacon on the side. The server seemed nice but very occupied with a friend that was visiting her. She didn’t really check on us through out our meal. The restroom is a single and you have to walk through the open kitchen and past all the cakes. It’s small and dingy. I felt a little awkward walking through all the food prep. We waited awhile for the check but left very full and satisfied. We will be back. I will use the restroom before going.

We’ve been there quite a few times now, have never been disappointed. Great food and very reasonably priced! We’ve found a winner!

A slice of chocolate mousse cake for $ 3.75? The chocolate cake is rich and moist and the two different types of mousse(chocolate and white chocolate) are light and flavorful with a ganache icing? YESPLEASE. A small café with the heat blasting, it’s a slightly weird vibe but I really enjoyed my cheap slice of cake. Definitely going back to check out their Italian cookies and their coconut cake with cream cheese frosting.

The $ 2.50 pecan bar(after ordering properly as puh-cahn, they corrected my pronunciation with the thing you urinate in) was not great.

Ordered: Cousin john’s egg benedict and Strawberry shortcake Pros – The brunch came with this great complimentary chocolate bread. It was fresh and had a tart, sweet cranberry jam to spread on. The croissant was flaky and the eggs were perfectly done. The pancetta was a perfect addition to the dish. All the ingredients were very fresh. The cake was very very light. The glazed strawberry on top of the slice wasn’t overly sugary like I’ve experienced at other places. Cons – No reservations.

After skimmin thru some of the reviews and checkin a few photos out. We decided to come here for brunch to kill time cos our cat was being groomed at Bark Slope. We were excited to see some interesting things on the menu under«weekend brunch» but when we were ordering, our waitress showed us the small print underneath«weekend» that says«served on Sundays only.» So. Im just alil confused. Weekend is Saturday and Sunday. And if they are only going to serve it on Sunday then don’t have weekend listed. Anyways, ordered something else. I would’ve gotten up and left but my sister didnt want to be rude since we already ordered coffee and sat down. Food: Their iced coffee was so watered down i can barely taste any coffee taste. The wheat pancakes were honestly good, but unsure abt the blueberries added into the batter cos it made it sour. I had to pick out the blueberries. They were jus too sour. The ham and cheese croissant is overpowered by cheese. So its very filling. We also decided to get a strawberry shortcake w mixed berries to go since it was our nephew’s bday and saw so many ppl coming in to get desserts and cakes. And the cakes look really pretty The cake itself was kind of dry. We also had another cake from another bakery and it was not even comparable becos it was obvious the other cake was much more moist. The choices of the berries did not mix well. The raspberry was super sour, blueberries and strawberries were good. The cream they used was very good. Light. Fluffy. Minimal hint of sweetness. Overall, it was an okay experience. If i had Sunday brunch here i’d probably be happier. I really think they should make changes to that particular line or they should start serving brunch on Saturdays as well since it is a weekend.

This place is one of the best brunch places in Brooklyn… Actually all of New York. You are greeted by a friendly and energetic staff. When you are seated, you are given complimentary chocolate bread. The portions are amazing, everything is cooked with care and the prices are EXTREMELY fair. This is my favorite brunch place

This is my go-to place for brunch. I love the extensive brunch venues in Park Slope but I somehow always venture back here… The portions are huge, prices are low, the service though sometimes slow is always excellent, and for brunch you get a complimentary serving of chocolate bread — heaven!!! I would recommend this place to everyone. You can’t go wrong going to Cousin John’s!

I hate to say it, but I forgot the name of the pastry by the time I got home. It was flavorful, but the flavors clashed. I will give this place another shot, then I will update this review. My friend had a cookie. She loved it.

We just ate here for the first time. Prior to that, we just grabbed some yummy pastries to go. Food was great, very affordable, and the staff were super welcoming. Jazz was our server and I would have to put her up there with the most hospitable servers of all time. She was so nice, knowledgeable about the menu, and just very welcoming. Try out there amazing assortments of breads!

Okay let’s first revel in the fact this bakery stays open until 11pm on a Friday! Whaaaaa!!! This is Both dangerous and delightful. After having dinner with my mommy, she was hankering for a delicious treat to take home with her. We grabbed a slice of a chocolate white chocolate mousse cake and a chocolate chip cookie. The cookies are HUGE and are a little bit hard but I happened to like my cookies hard and not super chewy. The chocolate cake was amazing. My mom at the whole thing. I had a bite and the white chocolate mousse was awesome! The girls that work here are always welcoming and sweet. They never make you feel like you are inconveniencing them even if it is almost time to close. They make really great lattes! Definitely come check this place out!

Walking through Park Slope nowadays, it is very rare to find a place that has withstood the tests of time, but thankfully Cousin John’s has. This is the awesome bakery my family and I have been going to for every special occasion since before I could remember, and I’d probably make up some special day just to have a slice of their mixed berry cake. I am not a fan of any type of icing or frosting, but I could literally lick their whipped cream frosting right out of the bowl! It’s light, fluffy, and with just the right amount of sweetness(which is awesome for the cake, but definitely not for my waistline). I love that everything is made on the spot in their on-sight kitchen and I’ve never had a bad experience with anyone that works there. Definitely go there for their cakes(the strawberry shortcake is amazingly delicious — request the sliced almonds to be put on the sides!) and I know that everything being sold is fresh and made with care. I hope I never pass Cousin John’s and see that dreaded ‘for sale’ sign because this place definitely deserves to stay here for a long, long time.

Love this place. The place is quite small but the portion you get in the plate make you forget it. Used to have the chocolate chip pancakes with fruits, so perfect. Cant wait to go back to taste all the things they have.

Jesus lord. They make a mean breakfast. Their flaky crossaints brought a little tear to my eye. The side salad was plentiful. The flippin’ potatoes?!? Stop it already. I could eat those as a meal all by their lonesome selves. The food is extremely fresh. The service is pleasant and laid back. It’s a tight space and I imagine that they probably have long waits on the weekend. The only thing that made me a little uncomfortable is that you have to walk through the kitchen to get to the bathroom. While I loved inhaling the fragrant bakes goods, it just felt a lil’ unsanitary. Given all that, I look forward to trying their other pastries soon.
