Shitty service!!! We ordered something off the menu and it was different than what was written. Waiter said he didnt know they had changed it but they wouldnt refund it even tho they sold us a different product than what was presented. Aside from that service was slow and staff was inattentive. The host/manager looked angry at life. I would strongly advise against going here. I hope they close soon theres no room in park slope for sub par restaurants.

Came here to celebrate my grandmothers birthday. Before that Crab Spot Restaurant wasn’t on my radar. When I pulled up, 25 minutes late of course. La familia was already seated. The sever was 100% on point and at no point in time did she disappoint. The food was A+ if you love sea food. I ordered one of their many seafood pots full of crab legs, a half lobster, steamed potatoes, and corn on the cob! It was delicious and when I return to Brooklyn I’ll definitely have to stop back. This place is great for kids, gatherings etc My only complaint would have to do with their bathroom facilities. This place is pretty big for only 1 bathroom so during their busy hours its a bit of a hassle. besides that this is an excellent choice!

Don’t really write reviews but this place is pretty good and the service is good real comfortable feel when you go in here sort of like a distant family atmosphere.

Great choices to choose from. Everything is delicious. Staff is warm and friendly. I came her on a Sunday afternoon about 3:00 ish. Fairly empty… more diners started to arrive as we were leaving. Elegant may be the wrong choice of word but it’s more elegant than Joe’s Crab Shack but the same type of choices offered on the menu. The drinks are really good. My husband had something called the dark and stormy which was pretty strong. My only con would be there is only one single use restroom. On a busy night this could be a problem.

Better than expected. Despite the fake brick interior façade and cheap fisherman’s theme, the food is pretty damn good. We had the Groupon for Fisherman’s special for 2 and it was generous and fresh. Definitely worth $ 75. Daughter had the fish and chips… done well and too much to finish. The wine was decent and included with the Groupon. Overall, recommended(with Groupon only, which seems to be always available).

I came in here for my boyfriends birthday just a little chill day as soon as we walked in I felt like the owner didn’t really want is there because of our nationality. He gave us like a mean look, but I didn’t think anything of it because who cares I’m going to eat whether you want me there or not. The waiters were too busy flirting with each other they completely ignored us. We got our food and I wanted another lemonade, that second lemonade didn’t come until the we finished our food. This place was ridiculous!!!

I am sad because the food was good… However the lobster was not cleaned right and the service was horrible. We went there on a groupon and it was obvious that the owner was annoyed. The assistant manager was super sweet and tried to be accommodating. The waiter was rude and when repeating something to him we were told«I heard you.» This restaurant could use a good hospitality training class…

My boyfriend and I ate here lastnight… The food was amazing… The mussels where superb because it was well seasoned. My BF ordered a second lobster… We are big on seafood so to find a local place that satisfies our need. It’s great. The service was excellent… I Love the waiter’s vibe. We will definitely be back! PS loved The rum-punch

This place suprised me it looks very non descript and dark in the front. But inside was very cozy. Small bar in front but im sure they dont come for the drinks. I was excpecting to smell that crab boil smell you usually get walking in. There was none. I had some stuffed shrimp with some mash. Sister got the fried shrimp and we split some snow crab. They stuffed shrimp was good. It was a seafood stuffing so some of the flavors i wasnt too keen on, but still good. The fried shrimp could have used some seasoning. But the crab, oh my. It impressed me. Snapped when i broke the legs, so they were cooked just right. Tender with a little sweetness to them. Kinda light on the old bay, which i like lots of it, but was cool. Havnt been to city island in years, and now i find no need to go back.

I walked by this place a couple a times and had been meaning to check it out. The food is decent. The staff on the other hand is not. Service started out fine… but then the dynamics changed. Our waitress had to leave and from that point on our table was ignored. We never got a water refill, was asked if everything is ok after we asked busboy twice for cocktail sauce. Handiwipes weren’t readily available..(really!!!) I couldn’t wait to get out of my booth. Ambience — was ho-hum!!! Would I give them another try? Probably not.

They ignored our OpenTable reservation note about celebrating a birthday, and we didn’t have a Groupon, but we still enjoyed ourselves amidst the rather rowdy crowd within loudly decorated fake-brick walls. $ 65 before tax scored us two boils, both of which were filling, albeit unremarkable.

Went for dinner on a Friday night. Not very crowded. We were seated right away. The restaurant gives the feel of a renovated dinner. When we were seated we were given menus that were in poor condition and sticky. They have a similar menu to Joe’s Crab Shack. We ordered two beers. We were given the beers right away but I couldn’t finish mine it was room temperature. The food was underwhelming. We ordered a steam pot and the stuffed shrimp. Nothing special about it.

I went here for lunch with my best friend. The food was very good and the service was very good. Our waiter was very attentive and informative and the price wasn’t bad for seafood.

Poor mom. Dad had passed the torch for our New Year’s feast to her, and after years of cooking, she was tired. Unfortunately, passing the torch to her Americanized daughters for a meal of traditional Chinese New Year’s foods guaranteed an inedible meal worthy of survival class. On oldest sis’s recommendation, we headed to Crab Spot to fill the void and our bellies. A seafood bounty we had indeed. Mom and sis shared the Captain’s Platter, an enormous pile of lobster, shrimp, mussels(in their little bowl of white wine garlicky sauce), king crab, and sides of super sweet corn, garlic bread, and potatoes, on a plate that almost stretched from one end of our table to the other. Sis had the Queen Crab pot, the claws of that crustacean contained in a net with her corn and potatoes on the bottom of the pot. Both dishes were made with sauces to taste – garlic, olive oil or bay seasoning or all three. With blind faith on a Unilocaler’s tip, I chose the shrimp trio, a huge plate of breaded, grilled and stuffed shrimp. You don’t get cheap food here, but you get sated for your money. All nine of my large shrimp were perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, not too salty. I ate them all with relish, deciding not to waste any time debating which style was tastiest. My veggie side of carrots, string beans and broccoli was less impressive, but was devoured also. The mash potatoes that came with the dish were creamy and fluffy, but I was wished it had been flavored with garlic. It was a minor point since I was too full to finish it. Sisters and mom enjoyed their dishes tremendously, though all did say some pieces of the crab claws weren’t as fresh as the others. Sis explained that very fresh crab claws cracked when you snapped them and some of hers didn’t. They gave their dishes 3 stars because they all said the crab wasn’t super fresh. Mine was a definite 4, the sides bringing down the rating slightly. I thought they could do better with their bay seasoned biscuits, which tasted microwaved or over toasted to me. The place is huge, with three large TV screens and a bar at one side. The Super Bowl was on the screen but thankfully, not the noise. With the dark wood and the barrel vault passage as you enter, the place has a masculine feel, punctuated by playful seafood decorations that lighten the mood. Crab Spot has many tables and booths against the wall on the opposite side. Note that the booths seem large until you sit in them. None of us were huge, but we seemed to be very close to the table when we sat. Pot bellied and burly folk, take note that you might prefer to sit at the tables. Service was welcoming and sweet, earning their higher tip and a solid 4 stars for Crab Spot.

Great customer service! Love the vibe… shrimp and crab nachos were to die for, I want to go there weekly just for those! Parking kind of sucks in the area though so be prepared or take the train or cab if you like. It’s definitely a seafood restaurant so stick to the surf not the turf. Overall great experience. The steam pots were also delish!

The Hubs and I came here for our first date of the New Year and had a fantastic time. The seafood is plentiful and fresh and well seasoned. The menu offers good value. We ordered the Captain’s Dinner for two and it was almost too much food! Which is a difficult threshold to meet with us — we like to eat :) Also the service was great — very attentive without being smothering. The waiter made good suggestions about the menu. And the playlist was so much fun — classic 90s R&B with a little Barry White thrown in. The place was jamming and we went home with full bellies and happy hearts. This is a great place to come on a date you don’t mind eating messy with, or with your family. Not good for vegetarians. And we didn’t try the rest of the menu, which offered a lot of options, so my appreciation of the seafood and cooking is based solely on the ginormous and plentiful platter for two we shared. If your get it, order with garlic, olive oil and old bay. That sauce was so good I wanted to lick the plate.

Had seen this place awhile back but forgot about it until I saw it as a Groupon. Seemed like a nice night out so finally went last night. How terrific. Made a reservation and the staff was very responsive and helpful. Parking can be an issue in this neighborhood but was luck to find street parking right out front. Nice atmosphere upon being greeting at the door and sat at our table with our waiter being Brendien. He was pretty attentive and wasn’t turned off when we told him we were using a Groupon. Ordered some extras with one being the oysters which were magnificent. Had the sangria which was delicious. Upon the arrival of the meal we dug in and it was fresh and had plenty for the two of us. We actually convinced the folks next to us to order the Captain’s Platter too. Decided to end the night with the crème brûlée which was to die for… the best we’ve ever had. The only slight turn off was at the end of the evening we were told there was a «surcharge» for using a Groupon and include the tip and tax. I had never heard of that before but figured people using Groupons probably don’t adequately tip the waiters so this is a way to avoid that issue. We know better and included an additional tip to cover the extras we ordered. Did I mentioned we ordered another sangria(two are included in the special). Kudos to the bartender. Recommendation: advise people using a Groupon about the surcharge upon them making the reservation and/or upon them sitting to order. We’ll be back!

Why not 5 star? Minus 1 star for a not super good clam chowder and desert. I will explain later. Came in by 5 on wednesday night. the restaurant was empty. We are the first table so got served right away. There are nice promotion(oysters and captain’s platter) but we kind of know what we want so instead we order Alaska King Crab and Seafood Steamer delight. For appetizer, we order clam chowder in bread bow. Nothing special about the soup, pretty plain. But the bow is creative, the bow made from bread and it tasty($ 9) + Alaska King crab: I chose it steam simply. Tasty and fresh($ 43) + Seafood Delight: olive oil and herb so tasting and its pretty fill our stomach.($ 46) + desert: we have the chocolate crêpe and it bitter. Told the server but we got no discount on it($ 6) Our server Alex is a nice man, he explained everything and prompt help.
