I had a great experience with DiJiFi, they were fast and professional. They picked up and dropped off all my videos. I had them convert about 30 betas to .mov files on a harddrive. The cost came in below the quote. Definitely worth it as I now have family videos from 80s in a format I can view.

DiJiFi scanned a large number of slides that I inherited. They were easy to work with for getting the slides picked up and dropped off, gave me several choices about how the processing could be done with the pros and cons spelled out, and were very responsive to all communication. The quality of the images is excellent. All in all, high-​quality service; definitely recommended!

I got a VHS to DVD and Digital Transfer. It was so seamless. I dropped it off and picked it up on a week and a half. The pricing was very accurate and fair. I recommend if you have any weird formats of media to transfer to a more accessible format.

A friend recommended DiJiFi to me and I’m so glad they did! Amazing customer service, patient and thorough explanation of the work order, excellent communication skills and follow-​up and most of all, really high-​quality work. I dropped off my tapes at the Brooklyn location — clean, well-​organized, with all projects put into covered plastic boxes, leaving me with the assurance that my precious footage (or photos, or slides…) will be handled carefully and protected along the process. Everyone was friendly and professional. Easy to have the tapes/​DVDs shipped back to me — worth the shipping cost!

I was looking for a company to get my slides from late 40’s scanned. They provided a great service, for reasonable price. After I got my photos scanned, I sent a 70-​years-​old 16 mm film roll to be converted into a digital video. I’ll update my review if I experience any trouble. To be honest, DiJiFi deserves 5 stars for their price/​performance, and customer service.

Had a very good experience here. Dropped off a reel of old film and they transferred it digitally no problem. Took a little bit of time to get the job done but it was done right, which is the most important thing with this kind of stuff.

I took in a really, really big pile of mixed format reels lying around for a documentary feature (8mm, 16 mm, audio tape, audio vinyl, some particularly bizarre formats– and some of these things had been sitting in less than ideal conditions for decades), and not even did the rusting canisters that were literally spewing out disintegrated stock phase DiJiFi. I was smitten when it was clear that they knew exactly what they were talking about, and were more than happy to deliver comically huge tiff sequences rather than compressed video files. It did take a while (not that I’m surprised, it was a huge stack of media in all sorts of formats and levels of decay), but they came in under their quoted price, which I was happily surprised by.
It was clear from the workspace that this is a top quality outfit, and I couldn’t be happier with the results.
They were great on the phone and email, very, very quick responses even for my sometimes silly inquiries and curiosities. If you have a bunch of media that you need professionally handled and brought to digital life, just go to DiJiFi. Stop looking at other options.

Last summer I took some analog video to be converted to digital files. Their pricing was fair, their time estimate was spot on, and their customer service was great. They even did a good job of bugging me to pick up my files when I was behind on doing that.
What you see is what you get with these guys. No BS. It’s a refreshing experience.

These guys are great in every way– the scanning service is excellent and the staff is very helpful, accommodating and nice. I’m a big fan of a company that can hit all of those notes.

I used DiJiFi for a project worth over $ 10,000, and if I could go back, I wouldn’t have done it. The staff were incredibly nice and the work product was usually pretty good. That said, every time we called to follow up on a project or a deadline, we were given a hard time. I think the reviews on Unilocal will confirm that this is a good business, and I can’t disagree completely– But only for a certain type of project — one-​offs. Not recommended for regular use or large products. Was not treated as a highly paying customer should be, and I don’t think they’re organized enough to be able to handle large clients.

I have been asking my parents for years to transfer their old 8 mm and Super8 films (from their yearlong honeymoon in Europe in 1956, on up through the birth of their children and our subsequent family vacations up through the early 1970s) transferred to something digital for years now. But I never knew where to go. Sadly, my mother died before I stumbled across DiJiFi last year, and was finally able to convert over 60 reels of these 50-​year-​old movies.
DiJiFi was nothing short of exceptional every step of the way: careful, kind, considerate of my fear at handing over these priceless rolls. And the end result was just marvelous. Truly. Their work was efficient, and of a fine quality and reasonable price. And the level of consideration they demonstrated really touched me. I had tried to organize the reels into a proper chronology, and the technicians doing the work actually called me at one point to say they had found some discrepancies in the timeline… did I want to come back and have a look with them before they finalized their work for me? Wonderfully thoughtful.
My father is old and frail and nearly blind, and misses my late mother terribly. I wanted these films digitized as a gift for him, so he could see my mother again, in some small way. Seeing his face light up at these old images of my mother as a newlywed ended up being the most wonderful gift to me as well!

i have fallen head over heels, over dijifi.
every step of my interaction with them was lovely, thoughtful, efficient, polite, informed. switching my details around was accomplished swiftly and with a smile. this is how businesses should be run. i wish all the horrendous customer service businesses and agencies that infest new york could go to dijifi bootcamp and learn manners and grace in doing business.
my 38 year old 8 mm reels were digitized very well, and were ready 3 days prior to the estimated date. everything is super organized and easy.
gracious lauren at the front, and the polite and efficient pink-​haired girl assisted me wonderfully. they were patient and helpful every step of the way. this company must have an extraordinary team-​training program.

For the last two years, I have had all of the 16 mm and Super8 color and b/​w that I have shoot for my studio projects transferred to HD video (Raw service level) at DiJiFi. Not only is their work excellent and cost-​efficient — but the staff and environment is just so friendly, welcoming, and accommodating.
In digital transfers of film (particularly in New York City) I have found very very low cost back-​door transfer services that will do the work but at a quality that is simply unacceptable and then of course the outrageously priced liquid gate transfers that are of great quality, but just unreachable in terms of cost for most artists and archives working with film who are not showing work in the world’s blue-​chip gallery and museum spaces.
What DiJiFi manages to do — in a way that is truly remarkable given the precarious circumstances that surround using film in the 2010s and beyond — is to find the perfect sweet spot of high-​quality and cost efficiency for this kind of work. I have shown digital copies of my films to other filmmakers during studio visits and one of the reactions that always comes up is ‘where did you get this transferred? it must have cost a fortune…’ and are shocked when they learn how reasonably priced the transfers actually cost.
I feel lucky to have their services available to me — it is DiJiFi and very few similar small businesses in the country that allow artists like myself to continue a practice that involves film. I will be bringing my films to them for as long as both they and I are operating. I recommend DiJiFi unequivocally to anyone seeking to get a superb quality digitization of their analog material.
Also, regarding the location which some reviews have mentioned as being too off the beaten path — I usually use my trip to DiJiFi as an excuse to visit MoMA PS1 just across the bridge in LIC and/​or Light Industry and The Picture Show (both small venues for showing experimental and artists films in Greenpoint.

DiJiFi handled the conversion /​transfer of my 33 year old 8 mm sound wedding movies on time, at a reasonable cost and delivered to my office. Excellent service.

Excellent service, and seemingly excellent transferals. I gave then a variety of different media, and they transferred them perfectly to a hard drive. I would definitely use them again. Also, they didn’t charge me for transferring two tapes that were blank, they just marked them as blank. I really appreciate that. Finally, they accurately labeled both the files and even the tapes themselves, making it very easy to tell what was what.
As others say on here: if everyone were as professional as this company, the world would be a lot better off.

If every company was as professional and courteous as DiJiFi we wouldn’t need Unilocal.I had twenty years of different format videos to be transferred to a hard drive. I walked into the office and was treated like I was bringing a child to the doctor. Kind and courteous reception. Understanding that they were taking possession of twenty years of memories and assured me the transfer would be better then the original.
Not only did DiJiFi transferred all of the videos, they called me to tell me 3 of my vcr tapes were just children TV shows. In addition they filed all of the videos chronologically. I just plugged the hard drive into the computer and spent the last four hours going through videos. Awesome job.
