Dyker is a renovated dog park. There is a water fountain which is the most important feature of any dog park. Most dog parks don’t have this feature, owners lug their own water. The double gating system is the best I have seen in any park. There are nice benches and a picnic table, but never bring food to a dog park! The dogs are very well behaved with owners that are responsible and friendly. Just like in any dog park behavior flare ups happen, owners quickly take care of the issues quickly. Parking is another issue, dog owners compete with golfers for a spot, but this is to be expected in this part of Brooklyn. Best time to go? When the sun starts to go down, limited shade where the benches are. I gave this park 5 stars because of the dog owners, water fountain and gating system. Most dog parks have their regulars, this place is no different. Dog walkers who bring many dogs? Maybe in the morning, in the late afternoon this is not an issue. This park is worth the drive!

Decent park right off the belt parkway. Came here to play softball! Fun, fun, fun.

This dog park is huge! Probably one of the largest fenced-in dog parks around! It’s a great place for you and your dog if your dog loves to run, run, run and play! Only problem is that it isn’t maintained. The parks department doesn’t collect the trash and the grass is worn out by constant running after tennis balls. The picnic tables are falling apart and there is no water in the park… but the people bring in plastic chairs and put the trash outside the park every day. The city needs to do more to take care of this park. If they collect the trash in other parts of the park, can’t they at least pick up the trash when it’s left outside this part of the park??? The people are friendly, but because it is Brooklyn there are a good number of large dogs. I have been going there for years and I have never seen a dog get seriously hurt in this park. I’m sure it happens, as it does in other parks, but I have never seen it.

Dyker Heights occupies a little less than a square mile, bordering Bay Ridge to the west at Seventh Avenue, Borough Park to the north at 65th Street, Bensonhurst to the east at 14th Avenue and Dyker Beach Park to the south at 86th Street. In addition, several blocks east of the park, near the Bath Beach neighborhood, are sometimes referred to as Dyker Park and associated with the Heights. As one of the two Brooklyn City parks with a golf course, Dyker Beach Park is a popular destination for those wishing to hit the links. Soon, younger golf fans will get their own course, a first for the city. The future City Parks Junior Golf Center, a kids-only six-hole course, driving range, and practice facility with free golf instruction, is expected to open this spring. This is a safe park and we go walking here on occasion when we go to get my favorite bagels!

It’s a nice dog run except for one well-known and dangerous defect: irresponsible professional dog walkers often arrive with several dogs, dump them there, then drive off to get another load. I saw this lead to an epic dog attack with one woman trying to fend of a half dozen large dogs trying to get to her Yorkie.’

Overcast grey Sunday afternoon for a two hour warm-up and practice of co-ed volleyball and badminton for a Meetup engage my long haul travels to this part of Brooklyn. The Dominick L. DiCarlo Recreation Area ground is stable and somewhat flat to offer plenty of space for athletics of summer’s blaze. Thus, there is no need for one’s volleyball court to be bumping with another party. On a clear blue sky day park patrons can visibly see the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. There are also very few trees and I do not recommend dogs to play here as easily lost. N.B. There are no picnic tables and I do not believe facilities are available either.

Dangerous place to take your dog. If they seperated it into 2 parks, one for little dogs and one for big dogs it would be ok. However, there are people with pit bulls and other dangerous dogs in which they cannot control their animals. Be warned that your dog may be in serious danger if you take it there.

This is a dog park at the tip of Dyker Heights just a couple of blocks away from Bay Ridge You can pass by here any day and see a large assortment of dogs playing. There is also a new catering all here and it’s a great spot to jog

This dog park is very large and wide open with a few trees and nice fencing so the dogs cant get out. Cool people hanging out and lots of cute dogs. Very muddy due to ground thawing out. a nice place to relax and read a book while your pet runs wild.
