I dined in about a week ago with some friends and this is Great dominican food. I ordered the mini chicken mofongos that had a flavorable gravy and grilled chicken breast plate. Absolutely delish. We had a good waitress until some other waitress came over with out all the food and confused our orders but other then that the place was fine. I would return again.

This rest. is GREAT! for Hispanic food. When I have a craving for Hispanic food, I placed my order then pick it up. The service is always pleasant when I arrive. I“ve tired there baked chicken with red beans and rice, Pernil etc. Sometimes I get a side of sweet plantains. I“ve been going to them for about 6yrs now. The one that was close to me on Bushwick Ave closed down:(Thank God they had a second rest. in the Bklyn area. If you want GREAT D. R food, music and home atmosphere, along with the AMAZING smells of food. This is the place!:)

If your looking for Dominican food in East New York Brooklyn/south queens look no further than El Rey. Ive been coming here ever since they opened over 10 years ago and everyone in the neighborhood knows where to go if they want good authentic Dominican food. They carry the full gamut starting from Mangu Pastelitos to Pernil to Rotiserrie Chicken to Jugo de Chinola to Flan. Cant name one specialty because everything sells well but you cant go wrong with the Grilled steak w onions with rice and beans. They have a full bar with every Wine and Spirits you can think of on the menu, I always get a nice Red Wine with my meal They always like to decorate around the holiday season so its nice to stop by and see it. They make you feel as if you are in an authentic restaurant in the Dominican Republic. They have locations throughout the Brooklyn and Queens Boroughs.

My last name is King, so my name and this restaurant’s name worked matched up figuratively and literally. The prices are known to be a bit higher at this restaurant than other nearby Spanish, Latin American restaurants, but still very good prices throughout the entire menu. The portions are built for a king. My Arroz con Pollo was well cooked, w/the chicken seasoned nicely and the vegetables mixed in w/the brown rice were on point! The only things that could be considered a problem at El Rey II is that you may have to wait a while to get your bill, because it’s a busy place. The other problem is that I don’t get to Brooklyn too often. Whenever I do go to BK, I will make it «a must do» before I depart the burrough! Also, I am diabetic, and can’t enjoy it, but you have to try one of the Batidos(shakes). The papaya is ridiculous. It was so good that it almost made me forget that I am diabetic! I will inform family and friends, and can’t wait to get back to El Rey II.

El Rey is a small, family-owned chain(there’s about 5 locations) that specializes in Dominican and Latin American cuisine. Their restaurants are pretty popular and they are very sought after for take-out. I would describe their food as being average; pretty good but nothing special. One winning factor that the restaurant possesses is that the food is very cheap. You can get a large plate of rice, beans, and chicken for $ 5.50. Some other recommendations from their menu are: mofongo, guandules, mangu, and morir soñando. They also make a mean Dominican breakfast(mashed plantains, fried cheese, salami, sausage and onions). One downfall is that the waitresses are a bit on the snobby side and don’t seem to be very interested in checking up on their tables. Just my observation.

I eat here every other week, and the food is too die for. My favorite item selections are the pollo empanadas, arroz con gandules, habichuelas, and the pollo a la brasa. But if I go early in the morning, I always get their oatmeal. It is to die for. I don’t know what they put in it, but it always has me spellbound. The flavor is absolutely transcendental. I highly recommend this place.

Every time that I come to this restaurant, I leave pleased and happy. I love to dine here when I’m in the mood for Spanish food. You can either dine in, order takeout or stay home and place an order for delivery BUT delivery is only for the surrounding neighborhood. Whatever choice you make, you will be pleased. There’s a jukebox that has lots of musical selections that you can choose from. Each time that I order food, it doesn’t matter what I chose to eat I’m never disappointed with the quality of the food. I love their consistency, the food ALWAYS is good. If you are looking for GREAT restaurant with GREAT food and GREAT service, then your search is over. Get over to ELREY and give your belly a treat.

This place is always packed. A lot of people around this area are always ordering food from here. Delivery always takes about 30 minutes to my house. Food tastes good here as well. I always get the Baked Chicken with White Rice with Beans on the side and Plantains. I tried this Shrimp inside Chicken thing once and it was good but pricey(20 dollars) just for that. However, there is some downfall. The food only seems to be fresh and hot on weekends and around 1PM on weekdays. Trust me, I’ve been here many times and I notice the cycle in here. Service is mediocre most times. The ladies always forget to bring napkins and extra utensils. They tend to forget orders sometimes as well. Tried a burger from here once. Nope never again! Just stick to the regular rice, chicken and beans and you’ll be good.

The foods good that’s the only reason their getting 2 stars. The 5 times that I’ve ordered 3 times it came super late. And I mean 2 hours late. Never ordering from them again.

Stumbled upon this busy place while working, ordered a sirloin steak medium rare it came out like a hockey puck, sent it back, they brought me another cooked proper however the steak itself was 14% meat and 86% fat… I’ve never seen so much fat on a steak… I’d rather drive a galvanized roofing nail through my foreskin than ever go back to this place… glasses dirty, service was descent… however bring a Spanish friend or be prepared to point at the pictures to get what you want.

Great food. A little on the expensive side of things but they make up for it in taste. They are usually always busy & if you order for delivery it sometimes takes a while. I’ve had to call a couple of times to remind them about my food. If you don’t speak Spanish you might have a communication problem i t depends on who picks up. Only 3 stars cause the food is good.

Great Spanish food! When ever I’m in the mood for some good Spanish take out I come here. The turn of on the food is good so the food is usually fresh. A little bit more expensive than the other Spanish restaurants in the neighborhood.

The food is decent if you’re just looking for a place that serves chicken with rice. I am pretty simple, got the roast chicken with brown rice and plantains on the side. The price though is a bit more expensive then the jump off spots on Fulton Street in Cypress Hills. It has a nice atmosphere, waiter service and take out. I think its Okay overall, nothing special about it.

I love Spanish food and this restaurant is just awesome. I love ordering bistec salteado, arroz amarillo, habichuelas rojas y aguacate(translates to sautéed beef, yellow rice, red beans and avocado). It is a great meal to share with three people. They do deliver to the neighborhood which is wonderful and you cannot beat the price for the food you are getting!

All I can say is YES! This will be me and my husband’s new spot! I’m 6 months pregnant and was craving mofongo soooo bad. I looked up good Spanish restaurants around that area since I know there’s a lot and none at all where i live in Rockaway beach and found this. We there and got there relatively fast. I parked and ordered by phone for pickup. I was surprised to see that the restaurant is across the street from the doctors office I went to as a little girl over 10 years ago(it’s no longer there). We had breaded chicken cutlet, mixed mofongo, white rice and beans, and a salad. OMG. We were in food heaven it was Sooo good. And they even hooked us up with LOTS of slices of buttered bread. Deff recommend eating here the customer service was honestly really good compared to most Spanish restaurants I’ve been to, I’m Hispanic and sometimes the people who take order can be SO rude. We ate in the car because I was starving and wanted to stuff my face and not in front of anyone time but we’ll eat inside and I know i definitely won’t be disappointed.

I don’t usually write reviews but I felt obligated to write one. My friends ordered the grilled chicken with tostones, with rice and beans. I ordered the rotisserie chicken with rice and beans. The food was delicious, as most Dominican food is. The service on the other hand was horrible! Our waitress had an attitude, she literally walked out on us with out having another waitress replace her, and it wasn’t because we were being problematic; we’re a laid back bunch. My friend had to get up and get a waitress. When she came over, she also had an attitude. All in all, good food but bad service!
