Express Shoe Repair

yes, the business delivers on the «express» part of their name, but honestly unless you’re trying for something basic, like some taps or a new heel, it’s not the best craftsmanship.
I brought in a pair of shoes that just needed some clear glue around the edges, and he only had black glue. Spend just a little more, and you’re likely to get better service, better quality, and perhaps a bit more of a wait.

I just picked up my favorite boots from being resoled and rehabbed and I can’t believe how beautiful they are. $ 50 well spent– cheaper than buying a new pair, and I’d rather keep my old favorites anyway! Nice guy. He seemed proud and even excited to show my finished boots to me. I like that kind of pride in workmanship. He’s gonna be my new go-​to guy!

This place cannot guarantee good workmanship. I needed a zipper replaced on my boot. He didn’t have the right color zipper. I settled for that but I should have went somewhere else. When I picked up my boot the stitching was the complete opposite color of the original. He didn’t even try to match it up or call me to inform me of this problem. He wasn’t helpful at all; didn’t even offer to fix it. Instead he said this isn’t the factory where the boot came from so I cannot make it the same way. The stitching line was also out of line and sloppy. The only thing I’m happy about is the fact i learned not go back for any shoe repairs.

I paid a good amount to get my boots fixed but I love them so felt it was well worth it. When I went to pick them up, the owner gave me a very lengthy and thorough explanation of how I walked and how I was effing my shoes up. From what I gathered he really wanted to say: «You lazy sloth. Stop schleping through the streets of NYC and effing up your damn shoes.»
A day later, I heard and felt a really awful grating thing going on with my boots. A few days later I explained this to him and much to his dismay and with deep disappointment he removed the extra heel he installed in my boot. Though this seemed to be the saddest/​most annoying thing he ever witnessed, he agreed to remove the extra heel thing and all was right again in the world.

Amazing to drop my shoes off with someone who takes such pride in his work. I dropped 8 pairs of shoes off and he had them ready the next day. He cleaned up shoes I thought were hopeless. Lovely man and I’m thrilled to have such a good shoe repairman in the neighborhood.
