Magic Joe Shoe Repair

I came to MAGIC JOE while visiting my daughter who live nearby several months ago. They repaired a beautiful set of leather/​patent leather Anne Klein flats that were well worn to seemingly «like new»! The customer service is EXCELLENT — quite refreshing and consistent especially in these times! Just also bought a pair of boots from them TODAY; and had toe/​heel taps placed on another leather favorite pair of shoes while I briefly waited! Reasonable prices, master craftsmanship rendered and quality products sold during most convenient hours of operation too. MAGIC JOE’S a great asset to this community and a winning («win win») combination for both the customer and merchant. IN MY CASE, the community-​at-​large!

This place has been around for years and they totally live up to their great reputation within the community. The prices were fair, the work is top quality, and the staff is always polite and courteous! No complaints here! I’m one of those people who are really «hard» on shoes, so suffice it to say my boots were in terrible shape. I still can’t believe they fixed the heel I pretty much wore down to the ground and made it look new!!! I’m very happy and will continue patronizing their business, as well as tell everyone about them! Thanks again!

I came in to get my shoes shined for a wedding. It only cost $ 5. They were quick and efficient and the shoes look great! I can’t complain.

The soles of my leather boots were almost totally worn down, so I decided to take them in to get re-​soled at Magic Joe. First time here, but I live down the street and all of the good reviews convinced me to try it out. I was helped immediately after walking in the door, and told them what I wanted. The employee also suggested getting the tread on the front sole replaced, which I agreed to. They quoted me $ 45 for the total, which I thought was a little steep, but I got these boots for a great price and we’re just entering the actual slippery, icy winter so I was willing to pay for good soles.
I could have picked them up the next day, but I waited two days to go. I was again immediately helped when I walked in the door, and they brought my shoes up. The soles look WAY better than when they were new (especially the tread — these babies are gonna rock the icy NYC sidewalks this winter), and they had also polished up the leather boots. They looked great and I was happy to pay the $ 45. Quick and great service. They feel just as good as new as I’ve been wearing them today.
Also, another bonus. Unlike many businesses around Bed Stuy/​Clinton Hill, these guys open at 8am, so I was able to go drop off and pick up my boots before work.

I like antique items; consequently, all the leather I have is rather old and hard to repair. I brought a pair of leather sandals and bag to another shoe repair place, where the guy told me I should throw the stuff in the garbage. The guys at Magic Joe’s were so nice and reassuring and told me they would fix my shoes in day, and they ordered all the hard-​to-​find straps and buckles to make it possible. My shoes look great!

Amazing job re-​sole-​ing and re-​heeling my favorite leather boots. Way better than I was expecting since I’d worn them down so far that water was seeping in from damp sidewalks and the heels were ground to weird angles. Now they’re like new — and they polished them all up for me too!

I’m embarrassed to admit just how I’d worn down the heals of my black over the knee-​boots this year. The heals were on slant and they made an awful noise as I walked the street. If I saw me, I’d have talked about me.
Thankfully, Unilocal to the rescue with the previous reviews of MJSR. This convenient little shoe shop in the heart of Bed-​Stuy is closed on Saturdays for the Jewish Sabbath and opened on Sundays (I particularly dig these hours of service as I am generally more compelled to run errands after a day of rest), The shop is small, the people are friendly and the owners seem to have a great rapport with the surrounding ‘hood (the man manning the store greeted every regular patron by name).
I had 4 pairs of boots that need repair. Heal replacements, taps, and shine — $ 90 (some of the heals were truly horrible, so I wasn’t taken back by the price). My shoes were ready in three days and they did a pretty decent job, though if I’m being honest the repair job wasn’t as good as I’ve had at some cobblers in midtown. Also, the work on the black soled boots was better than the work on the neutral soled boots — but he told me in advance that the colors wouldn’t match perfectly.
In a pinch, I’d drop my shoes to be shined again for sure, however, I probably wouldn’t return for resoling because there are better alternatives near my j-​o-​b. But if you need an emergency repair… look no further than Magic Joe for quick and friendly service.

Went here today expressly because of the reviews on Unilocal (local options near me in PLG are NOT acceptable). What a find! $ 7 for new heel tips + $ 2 for toe taps. Done while I waited there in much less time than I’d expected. Nice people. Note: Closed on Saturdays and Jewish holidays (closed this Wednesday for Yom Kippur). I never give 5 stars on the first visit, but if everything is just as good on my next visit, done deal!

Brought my beloved 5-​year old sandals in to get resoled and they did a great job, a month later and they’re in tip top shape. They also worked with me and were super amenable to my deal ;)

They always do a great job, I’m sure there were moments when they didn’t give 100 percent but they make your old worn down shoes look brand new. I recommend this shop to any and everyone, I’ve brought friends from Staten Island. The Bronx. Queens. I live around the corner from this shop but I work in Long Island. I’ve taken my Co Workers shoes to him and he’s done a magnificent job. His craft is on point. No one’s perfect but his work is great. Try Magic Joe’s Shoe Repair. Many shoe shops say drop off and pick up another day. not Joe’s. maybe only if he’s really busy that might be the case but even in peak times he will try to get your shoes done while you wait. Make sure you see the owner! I only let the Owner do my shoes, I don’t know the craft of the others in the shop. He’s the Master Blaster!

Magic Joe’s used to be a great place to get your shoes revamped but I feel like he’s been steadily slipping & I can’t sacrifice another pair of shoes to him… not to mention that now that the neighborhood has ‘changed’, his prices have gone nuts! Sorry Joe… I must move on.

A tiny shop just off the Franklin Avenue C-​train stop, I dropped off a pair of new boots last week. After just one wear, the lining began to rip and Magic Joe assured me that they were able to fix them. Sure enough, I picked them up last night and they fixed the lining, better than they were originally. A little steep at $ 20 for the repair, but I’m just happy I’ll be able to rock my hot boots again. Everyone was very nice. The place also seems to double as a shoe store/​lotto sales. I guess so you can drop off your shoes and grab a quick pick while your at it? Soo Brooklyn!

I dropped of a pair of shoes for a half sole, heal, and polish. Let me say that this is the first time I have ever used a cobbler, and did not know what to expect. I got the shoes back and they did not look like they did when i dropped them off, and not in a good way. They glued about a quarter inch piece of leather to the bottom of each shoe. they look like cheep crap now. The polishing job was whatever, and on top of that there is cut on the side of one shoe that I could have sworn was not there when I dropped them off.
maybe my expectations were too high, but I would say avoid. Again I have nothing to compare the work to. I will update the review once I have it done again somewhere else.

Great place. I went there this week with two pairs of shoes, one needed a very quick and simple fix and one was so battered and worn I was afraid he’d just tell me to throw them out. The quick and easy one he fixed for free while I waited and he did an amazing salvage job on the other pair, even cleaning them up. I’ll only be going here in the future.

It would appear Magic Joe is something of an all purpose outpost. They do shoe repair, but they also sell new shoes (men’s only) and cut keys. I suspect they do other things too, I just don’t happen to know what those things might be.
At any rate, I had some boots repaired here and they did an amazing job. I’ve also had a key cut, and the key works just fine. The guys who work here are super nice, and they would have repaired the boot in one day had I desired. I didn’t need it back in such a jiffy, but it’s nice to know they can do speedy shoe repair if and when the need arises. That is magic enough for me!
