Absolutely the worst. We’ve used them twice and will never do so again and strongly recommend you go elsewhere. First time, 2 entrée dishes were missing from the delivery. We didn’t have enough food for all of our guests. By the time the delivery folks showed up with the missing containers, the event was essentially over. We used them again(foolishly) for an event this weekend. Delivery was supposed to be 90 minutes before the event started. Instead, they showed up 10 minutes AFTER it started. We were calling and calling to find the truck and the folks at the store were useless. Never called us back, we had to keep calling them… Appetizers were thrown away because by the time we heated them, everyone was ready for main dishes. Seriously amateur operation. We will not use Fairway Catering for anything ever again and will make sure to tell friends and family to find another company to use.

FAILURETOCOMMUNICATE I planned a party and chose Fairway in Red Hook, Brooklyn to cater it. From the very start, there were major problems with communication. The phone number listed on Fairway’s catering site had a recorded message stating that the«mailbox was full and was not accepting messages.» I tried again many times and got the same result. How then, does one get in touch with the catering department? I decided to personally go down to discuss my plans with the catering manager, Marcy. Marcy was very knowledgeable and gave me good advice as to the food that I should order for my event. I placed my order. I told Marcy of the difficulty reaching anyone by phone and she gave me a number to call that she said would be easy. That turned out not to be the case at all.
When the day came for my party, I received a phone call from the delivery person(who spoke almost no English) asking where I live. I tried in vain to tell him but he hung up, never to be seen or heard from again. My food disappeared along with him. I called the number Marcy had given me and reached no one. I then called the main store number to try to locate my food and was repeatedly put on hold by an incompetent phone receptionist whose name I think is «Kia». When I asked Kia to connect me to a manager, she told me the manager couldn’t be reached and put me on hold never to return. As guests began to arrive at my home(where I had no food) I had to send a family member out to a local sandwich shop to get something to serve. Finally, the food was delivered by someone other than the original person who called. I have to say that the food turned out to be quite good. My complaint to Marcy did result in a credit toward the additional food I had to purchase as a result of the delivery snafu. She is competent in giving advice on catering options and responding to a complaint, but getting in touch with her is nearly impossible. Fairway’s food I definitely would recommend. Unfortunately, as long as their catering department remains so inaccessible, I cannot recommend using Fairway to cater a party.
