Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery

I was happy to find they had rice and peas later in the day. I’ve pretty much stopped going to the Golden Krust near me because they never seem to have them. I grabbed a spicy beef patty and a side of rice and peas and had at it. The rice was a bit dry as it probably had been sitting a while. The beef patty was good. This location was very clean and the employees were helpful. It seemed like they closed things down fairly early and I’m sure they run out of stuff very early. Regardless this seemed to be one of the better Golden Krust locations.

Never met a Krust I didn’t like. Friends swear by Silver Krust but there’s not much disparity between them and the golden ones as far as I’m concerned except, Golden Krust store front is always much cleaner. Overall they look better organized.
I stopped at GK for a breakfast snack and as usual I was not disappointed.
I love ackee and Saltfish and festivals (fried dumpling), but today my snack of choice was a shrimp patty and sorrel juice. My on the go selection was a peanut drop or what we in Trini call Nut Cake, Peanut Brittle or Nut Clusters.
The patty was nice and warm and as tasty as patties usually are. In fact I’ve never had a bad tasting patty. My sorrel drink tasted of too much gingerbeer and I wish it was listed as a sorrel/​ginger drink because I don’t like the latter. Not the shops’ fault.
My 570 calorie nut cake was sweeeeet! But that’s what it is. It’s peanuts on a bed of hardened brown sugar and spices.
Service was as usual friendly and swift.

I went here when I was high. I bought $ 15 dollars worth of patties. I ate them all. Then I felt really bad. 4/​10, will not do again.

There are def lots of Golden Krust in NYC and this is def one of the better ones. Located rightby the A train and they have a lot of options for food, drinks and desserts! The staff is less then friendly, Jamaicans are known for great food and terrible customer service but hey those are my people!
GK is always good for lunch, dinner and quick patties if your on the go. The patties can be old sometimes especially the ones that ordered as much like the chicken patties so be careful. Aside from that they have the jerk chicken, bbq, ox tail etc etc etc. Prices are decent and they are heavy handed with the portions!

First time for me at any Golden Krust and it was absolutely amazing! I had the Ox Tails, Rice & Beans and Cabbage W/​A Pineapple Jamaican Soda. #Phenomenal

I came here for lunch and had a taste for the curry goat but saw the curry chicken had a lunch special for $ 5. The food came in a small was crowded but the lines moved quick. The store was clean and the staff were not too friendly. However, I didn’t care as long as my food was good and it was. Golden crusts can be a hit or miss for me but this one was a hit, despite them not having any festival.

Neither the workers nor the customers have any concept of a line here.
This place will remind you of the old country, but not in a good way.
It’s one old-​timer business I’d be happy to see gentrified out of the neighborhood.
After a large group came in and rushed the counter I left, went to Trader Joe’s and then went home and made my own chicken curry and it only cost $ 2.50 for 5 servings.
And I guarantee it was tastier than the grey and green slop blobs they were dishing out at the Krust.

You can smell the smells of the island when you walk in here. Clean and friendly customer service here. The fried dumplings here are enormous. not your average dumpling. Flaky and tender! Stop in if your every in the neighborhood and try a shrimp pattie you won’t be disappointed!
